Which way do you use paper clips? Is the big part in front or in back?

I never thought about it before but have always done it one way and have never really seen anyone do it the other way...until now. I have a new coworker and when she gives me papers that are cliped together, the paper clips are backwards (to me)

I was going to write that I don't pay attention when I clip something together, but I just checked a few of my papers and notes and darned if they're not all big side in front.

This is the way I always used them as well. I can’t recall the last time I used one though 🤨

The big side goes in the front, becuase your thumb naturally depresses the smaller inside part. The real question is do you always put them on the same way - open end to the right or left?

This I have never paid attention to.

It also depends on which way you hold the papers being clipped. Do you tend to keep the printed side towards you, or away?

As many times in my life as I have paperclipped things, I never really paid attention. However, after careful consideration, I gravitate towards the small side in front. I didn't have a paperclip handy here to try it and see what I do, but looking at the picture of the paperclips made me realize that I am going to put small side in front.

I think I put the small side in front......and on top of the papers or it that isn't possible on the right hand side

Never gave it a thought, no idea someone thinks there is a 'right'/'wrong' way. Tend to use a stapler in the office to hold sheets of paper together as it does a better job.

I don't pay attention to that, but they must be Jumbo and non-skid. One co-worker likes his papers clipped on the side and the other on top.

If they are going to be permanently attached then I prefer staples as well. But there are things that are only being clipped together temporarily that paper clips make more sense.

Like I said in my OP I’d only ever seen it done the one way (large in front) until last week. The first couple times I thought she just put them on any which way. But now I see it is small in front every time. And from the poll I see it is not as strange to put small in front as I thought.

What is the correct way in this show.
I didn’t pay that close attention. Though in the next episode I need to watch the fandom page says:

Milchick takes a jar of paperclips off a shelf and moves over to a table. He practices putting them on the right way.

Attila is the episode where he practices and Trojan's Horse is the episode he is told he is doing it wrong. He is told he has installed the paper clips back to front. Not sure what that means.
