PAP vs tickets - to buy, or not to buy

I'm getting a lot of extra hours at work this year and thought of buying some tickets to put away for the future (when work's not quite so plentiful - that way, I could still take a vacation without spending much $$ :goodvibes ) or even a PAP. Another poster mentioned a two years for the price of one pass deal that was offered last year - is this something Universal does every once in a while? What time of year was it when it was offered last time?

Thanks in advance for your answers. I'm not in a hurry to do anything, just don't want to purchase regular tickets if there's a possibility that a pass deal might come along with the extra benefits.

They did it last year & the year before. The promo started around the start of the summer. I wouldn't count on it again. It didn't happen this year. This year NBC took over Universal so that may be why :confused3 not sure. You can purchase your pass & hold it to activate when you get here...years away. If they were to have the 2 for 1 again, they "may" allow you to upgrade & pay the price difference. I am sure there would be one (price increase) since the pass rates usually increase every year or so. I had a renewal 2 years ago that wasn't activated (they use to not activate on anniversary date as they do now), they allowed me to pay the price difference & get the second year added on. This year (my 2 years was up), I did my regular renewal for $99 since no other offers were around. Hope this helps you... I see you posted this a few days ago

Thank you - I was afraid no one would ever answer. I'm going to go with the Fantasy Five deal for now, since I wouldn't be likely to go during the blackout dates anyway. Thanks for your help!

The "buy a year and get one free" promotion is usually in March or April. I got mine last year around that time.
