We are in the single digits!! I won't have everything ready in time. Okay, calm deep breaths right? It's not helping. I'm so sure all my months of planning will have been a waste and I'll still forget something. Not to mention, the dash board light over the speedometer in our van went out and the parts won't be in until Monday. No big deal except that we are driving. It's a 21 hour drive for us without breaks.

So here I sit when I should be going over our plans, doing laundry ... so much to do ... I feel a liitle like Eeyore right now -- gloomy and depressed.

Yikes!!

Disnee Dad Says..............................Gloomy and depressed about going to WDW?! Don't worry, be happy! You are going when there are no crowds! I don't know about you, but my worst day at WDW is better than my best day at work! Can't help with the verrrrry loooong drive you have, sure hope you have at least two drivers! BTW, I credit card fixs everything! No camara, buy one, need a sweatshirt buy one, left the cooler buy one.
I am no mechanic, but look your car over before you go. Proper tire inflation. All fluids at proper levels. Look at belts and hoses. I have trouble changing a tail light, but can still check these things. Oh, yes, and make sure all your lights and signals work!
Remember, most important of all. The fact that you even have plans puts you in front of half the people there!

Congrats on single digits!

Enjoy the excitement and relax...you're gonna have a magical trip!:D

I am sure that the rest of the time will go smoothly! Have a wonderful vacation!!!!

First, yes, you will probably forget something, BUT I guarantee you that even if you do, your planning will not have been a waste!! Don't put too much pressure on yourself for everything to go exactly as planned, but realize, as DizneeDad said, that you are way ahead of the game, and your planning means you will be able to easily adjust to any issues that arise and HAVE FUN!!

I am also in the final push and have the extra issue that I am in transition, working my new job in Bethesda MD but with my family in Charlotte NC. So, I fly to Charlotte Thanksgiving morning, have to make sure the car is 95% packed before I fly back to DC on Monday, then I get back to Charlotte home about 10 pm Thursday night, finish the last 5% of packing, TRY to get a couple hours sleep, then drag my DW and DS into the car in the wee hours to hit the road on Friday!!!

Relax and Enjoy. I don't know how anyone could be depressed prior to a Disney Trip.

You want to see depressing, check out my counter. LOL

I tend to put a lot of undue pressure on myself. Part of it is just the way I am but I think this time it's due to my last trip. It was awful. It's kind of a long story but I'll shorten it where I can.

November 2001 a friend of a friend (Clue #1) offered us a really great deal on a Christmas trip to Disney. Matter of fact, it sounded to good to be true (Clue #2). My friend kept assuring me that her friend was on the up and up. My friend also invited my cousin's family and we were set to leave on December 26, drive 2 days, spend December 28, 29 and 30 in the parks, leave December 31 for home, finally arriving home on January 1. It ended up that my DH and my cousin couldn't get time off work but my DH said to go and take our 2DS and my cousin told his wife to go and take their 2DD. So we started making the plans and told all the kids.

December 22 my cousin's wife calls to tell me that the friend of our mutual friend wasn't on the up and up and had dissapeared. We hadn't paid him any money yet so at least we lucked out there. But we had told our kids and they were excited. Our mutual friend and their family opted not to go. My cousin's DW & I decided we'd still go and just max out our credit cards rather than dissapoint our kids.

Lots of things had to be re-planned and that was all on me. Let me just say, it's really hard, not impossible though, to find rooms at Christmas time.

I had never traveled with my cousin's DW before and I never will again. She complains that they never go out and I see why. She is so self-centered. She yelled at a CM, a guy in a scooter and 2 security guards, took food from the buffett each morning so she wouldn't have to stop or pay for lunch ... there's more but I think you get the picture. I ended up in tears the first day, called my DH and wanted so much to just fly home.

When we did get home I begged for a whole month to please say that we (our family of 4) could go back early December 2002 so I could have a good memory of Disney. Well, that trip now includes 6 of us as we are taking his 2DS from his first marriage who have never been. So it's my DH, me, and 4DS -- ages 20, 17, 7 and 3 years. All the planning is on me since my DH thinks you can just go and not have a basic plan. Plus, we have never ever all 6 been on vacation together.

I know we'll have a good time -- everybody has been so kind with all my questions and ramblings here on the boards that I don't see how much of anything could really go wrong -- but if it should I'll feel like I failed.

Disnee Dad -- I can't say a bad day at Disney is better than a good day at work. I'm a SAHM. However, I can say a bad day at Disney is better than a day spent scrubbing the toilet!

Thanks again for setting me straight, all your help, advice ... I'm back to being excited again!!

Just think how much better this trip is going to be than the last one! My goodness that last trip was ill fated wasn't it?

But now you have done lots of planning, you are prepared! Just relax. Put a smile on your face and a song in your heart and let the magic find you. I know that it will....you are going to have a wonderful trip.

Disnee Dad Says...............................Well it looks like you will have 3 if not 4 drivers, that helps.
One tip. For the 7 and 3 yo. Get to MK early, and go straight to Fantasyland and be there at rope drop. Let older ones do the Splash or Space run depending on what they like. Ride Dumbo first, slow loader. Then Pooh, Snow White, the Carrousel, Peter Pan, It's a Small World and teacups last. All this will be done in less than an hour! Meet back in fourty five minutes or an hour at the castle entrance and do the rest of the day. This always works.

Sorry about your last trip, but that is the exact reason why we never travel anywhere with anyone, except for a couple trips to Disneyland, where I stated up front,"this is what we are going to do, keep up as long as you can!" lol ;)

heck you could have been in my shoes! after planning every detail for a MAGICal cruise for 11mos suddenly find yourself having to put together a WDW vaca in less than 22hrs!
