Pandora- World of Avatar 2017 Really?

I'll take this as sarcasm.

The boat ride is expected to be around 5 minutes long which would be similar to the length of the frozen boat ride.
That's definitely longer than frozen ever after or maelstrom. My mind could be wrong here but I thought it barely edged four minutes

Have they started testing the rides/effects tech yet? I doubt they will set a date for the public until they're well into the testing phase.

Unless there's a sudden surge in work going on there, I don't see it being open until late 2017. Stupidly slow rate this has taken

I still say spring (late spring, like mid may) opening. I would want it opened for summer to counter what universal has coming.. Now if they rush it, we'll be seeing a marchish opening but I highly doubt that but who knows. I can't wait for destination d where I expect more official word on what they are going to do.

It'll be nice for Animal Kingdom to be the hottest park once again.. that probably hasn't happened since the day it opened. Avatar, Tree Awakening, Nightime Safari, ROL and the new nighttime entertainment / food and drink options make this place so so much better.

Actually construction has been fairly normal. It really hasn't been that slow.

It's been perhaps the slowest timeline in Disney history...barring notable mechanical failures.

I don't even think it would be unreasonable...IF...they hadn't bothered to have press conference and "announcements" at times when there was just smoke and no real fire.

That's what happens when you're co concerned more about "looks" than real construction...hopefully that is a trend that they are taking steps to reverse.

It's not the "hottest park" and never has been. What it has right now is the most going on as far as enhancements included in the ticket...and that is a big inprovement for a neglected park.

But by this time next year - alledgely - the focus will be elsewhere again.

That is your opinion. Besides MK, the other parks have been equally neglected.

1. Of course it is my opinion...that wasn't a debate. Ak was "new" once, but other than that there is no empirical evidence to justify labeling it as "hot"...always 3rd or 4th in attendance and with a theme not universally loved and a lack of strategic direction. The truth shall set you free...
2. I'm not saying that the other parks
Haven't been neglected. Mgm since opening and Epcot since 2001...again -that's a lack of direction/vision to build Classic Disney parks by new age management.

3 years? It's been comparable to carsland which was just under 3 years I believe.

I speak of the "announcement" in 2011 when they didn't have a freakin clue.

We know why they did that...and they should know now why they shouldn't do that.

They've bled market share anyway...they only emboldened the competiton...

Less talk, more shovel :)

I would be surprised if we saw an opening before mid-May. I'm guessing mid-August at the latest, but I'm willing to bet they want it opened early for the summer crowds. No reason for it to be opened later than the end of Summer unless there were huge setbacks going on.

The timeline for Avatarland's construction hasn't seemed that slow. Three-ish years, more or less? That's not too bad at all, at least to me. :confused3

I'm not following your logic or your argument. If you think Animal Kingdom won't be the hottest park this next year, then your out of your mind. Epcot hasn't seen a sizable increase in attendance for years and hollywood studios has been number 4 the past few years and now has become a weak half day park. Magic Kingdom is pulling in double of the other three parks so I'm not just talking about attendance here because that isn't a fair comparison. Next year, AK will be the focus of WDW in terms of marketing and increases. That park will see big time gains thus it will be the hottest park. Maybe you don't like it or just don't agree, but logic dictates otherwise. I would not be surprised to see AK as the 2nd most attended park in Orlando in the next 2 years.

I'm speaking of strictly construction. 3 years for a project like this is pretty average for Disney at least.
