Panama City Beach, FL

It's funny you say that, I did my research on tripadvisor before we went to PCB this summer and in a couple of trip reports and comments I read I noticed that a few people made references to their "DH, DS, or DD" and thought I bet they're dissers!! :rotfl2:

Wow! Thank you all for all this help! I'm glad I asked because if I didn't try to plan a little bit, I'd end up staying at that "crapshack" and eating at Dirty Dicks Crab Shack because DH loves little "hole in the wall" palces. Sometimes they are good and sometimes it is awful. He can stay and sleep anywhere, me--not so much. I do not want to sleep with the lights on to keep the bugs away, lol.

Thanks again!!

We ate at Schooners last time forthe first time ever, and DH and I have been going to PCB since the 60s (as children). The food is pretty good, service was awful though, like theyr'e doing you a favor. Back Porch is eh, as is Margaritaville. Both can have extremely long waits. It is The Boatyard with the KLP on a stick, we liked it a lot better with it's old menu/theme, less high brow, more casual. Mikato is excellent. Anderson's is closing Nov. 14 for the season, Angelo's will be about the same IIRC. WE have never dined there but a lot of pweople rave about Boars Head. Stay far away from Dirty Dicks Crab House (even the name is nasty). We have had good crab at Bayou Bills on the West end of the beach. AS far as Boon Docks goes, their steaks are good, along with their seafood. Spinnaker is good for a huge burger as well. IF you get a chance, there is a seafood market on Thomas Drive called Cardenas that has awesome smoked fish dips, tuna, amberjack, Mahi mahi, and I think salmon. They also cook ribs and will also steam seafood for you I think, best hing, open 7 days a week. http://www.cardenasseafood.com/Welcome_.html Enjoy!

Yes! Do stay away from Dirty Dicks! YUCK

Boar's Head is fantastic, but expensive and more romantic, not really a kid atmosphere.

Pompano's is good, but I think it closes for the winter.

Oh, do NOT stay at The Summit, it is known as the Scummit.

Salt Water Grill is the restaurant with the large aquarium in the middle of the restaurant. It can be pricey, but they have early bird specials.

Calypso's is good and our kids always liked it.

If you go into town, stay away from Loco's. It used to be really good and now it is really bad.

You say your husband likes to eat in dives (some of the best food is in dives). It is a little bit of a drive but there is a rib shack named Glenn's in Springfield on the side of the road. The BEST ribs! Jalepeno BBQ, yum! It always has piles of cars outside of it, people coming and going to get ribs, homemade tater salad, beans, etc.

Please please people, do not say that one closed down, I might cry, lol.

Hey, I don't know when you were last down there, but Dirty Dicks was building a STEAKHOUSE right next to their crab house.

ETA: If you all really want fall off the bone tender baby back ribs and awesome steaks, drive over to Destin and eat at McGuires Irish Pub. OMG, their food is to die for!

FWIW, one of the best dive places is Hunts oyster bar in St. Andrews (it's a section of PC in town, not St. Andrews state park).

I really want to try the ribs at that place I mentioned, Cardenas, they smell awesome! We stopped all summer long to get smoked tuna dip and I drooled!

Oooohhh smoked tuna dip! I can't wait until late November, lol.

Destin has some great eating places and it is much nicer there, less touristy.

Panama City Beach --- my favorite beach!!! We have traveled to PCB 10 times for family vacations during Easter week, so it was pretty crowded, but well worth it. We started out at the Marriott - beautiful, very nice, but on the lagoon with a beach, not on the gulf. Our one night at the Holiday Inn wasn't great, because it was very noisy . . . and throughout the night. The building is in a concave shape, so noise from the balconies bounced around. Beautiful beach location, however. Most of the trips were at the Moonspinner, a condo on the far east end. Very quiet. Great for families- and next to St. Andrews State Park. It was an easy drive to Capt. Anderson's restaurant -- my favorite for flame grilled seafood. Also check out the daily fishing boats returning with their catches of the day. Send for their excellent free visitor's guide. . . pcbeach.com or call the 800 #. Wish I was going! Ruth

You went during the Spring Break season, of course it was noisy.:dance3: Captain Anderson's is the bomb, one of the best restaurants. However, in November it is closed. Booooo
