Happy Hump Day everyone!

I did okay today. I did my normal routine today with lower body. As far as food, I am proud of myself. I made homemade chicken and dumplings (it was chilly and my family loves them). I sauteed 4 chicken tenders for me and added them to a salad. Then, I ate some carrots. I'll have a snack later on tonight but I'll keep it low cal.

#1yepod, glad your biopsy was fine. We'd love to have you stick around :goodvibes

When our DGS was born, DH said he was going to call him Dopey because his ears stuck out. DS and DIL said "no way", so DH began calling him Yepod, he even made up a cute song and everyone (including parents) sang it to DGS. Fast forward a year and a half, we were in Target and heard a small voice calling from all the way across the store, "Pod, Pod, Pod". It was our DGS, he thought Yepod was his Grandfather's name. DS even made a license plate for the car but dh never put the plate on the car (didn't want it to get dented or worn). The name has stuck, everyone, friends, friends of friends and all their kids, even the teachers at dgs and now dgd school call him Pod. BTW DGS ears don't stick out anymore and he loves to tell the story about how he gave Pod his name.

THAT is pretty funny!:rotfl2:

Of course scrapbooks can be 'finished'! There are about 40 - 50 on my shelves alone. I did one (in two albums because it was so thick) of our two cruises in December. "blended" is a huge help - I don't scrap every single photo anymore - usually 1 2 or 3 pages with title and journaling and then photo divided pages behind with the supporting photos, before another set of scrapped pages.

C'mon over to the scrapbook board in the creative community! There are lots of nice gals over there to help you 'waste' more time DIS-ing, lol.

Linda,

Can you come to Redondo Beach and just hold my hand? :lovestruc

I have about a metric ton of material, but have never started much less finished a single srapebook. There never seems to arrive a point in my day where I say, hmm I don't have anything else to do, I think I'll tackle the scrapebook pile. :confused3

I guess you've got to plan for it, like everything else in life. :thumbsup2

Katherine, you sound like me. I have SO much scrapbooking stuff, the Cricut with about 15 cartridges, and enough paper to open a paper store. However, I haven't started a scrapbook in almost 11 years and never finished the 2 I started. I have bought albums for all my Disney trips but I guess I'm too intimidated to start. Maybe someday :rolleyes1

You two are too funny! Even when I was working full time, I made time to scrap - it's my therapy - that and hugging Dimples, who always smiles at me (Teddy Bear). Now that i'm retired, I scrap every single day - it makes me happy even though nobody ever looks at the books when they're done. I have so many stories to tell - but the ones that seem to get told are the short ones that fit on a scrapbook page.

Lots of people get hung up on - it has to be chronological - I have to finish Suzy's baby book before I can do the fun stuff. In reality, all you HAVE to do is start - with whatever pictures you have energy around! Try it!

Back to your regularly scheduled diet program.

Once again, the weather guessers were wrong - so far their huge storm is a steady drizzle. :( I was looking forward to the excitement, lol.

Gym and pool done.
Errands done
Nap pending.

Happy day, all!

I have to share this recipe, this is the best soup I have ever made, and my house smells like heaven. I had some cherry tomatoes that looked like they were going to go south on me, and this was the best use for them.

Roasted Cherry Tomato Soup

This was for a single serving

1/4 pack cherry tomatoes, cut in half and put through the salad spinner to get rid of the seeds.
1/2 onion cut in slices
3 clovers of garlic peeled but whole
salt/pepper

Place all in shallow pan
drizzle of olive oil over all

bake 45 min at 350

put the whole thing in a blender and add milk (I used 2%)

Heat on stove top and enjoy! :)

I actually use my scrapbooking stuff, just not to scrapbook :goodvibes. I make cards, projects for girl scouts, projects when DD attended public schools, and other paper crafts. I guess I get hung up on what you said, I feel that until I finish the 2 I started, I shouldn't start. Perhaps I just need to pick one of my trips and do it!!!

We did a western 7 day in 2008, and dh bot me the scrapbook. We (dh) took 700 pictures on that trip!!!! I really should get on it!

Sorry ladies...it's been a rough couple of days and I haven't felt much like posting. :sad2:

I am doing...ok...on the diet. I really am trying but I am struggling with wanting to lose weight and be skinny and healthy again and just wanting to enjoy my life and enjoy the food I eat. I know that the whole point of this is to teach myself a new way of living, not to diet but to retrain the way I see food, eat food and have food in my daily life. It is just so hard with a husband who sits there eating all the yummy things I want and often offers it to me and tells me not to worry, that I am beautiful and I shouldn't deprive myself. He doesn't mean to make it difficult and i have tried to tell him but he just loves me and knows that I am not "happy" when I can't eat what I want. At the same time though, I am not "happy" being overweight. I am so confused. I feel like I am fighting two halves of myself and I don't know which one to listen to...:confused3

Sorry for the rant, I just know that if anyone can understand you guys can.

Holly

My hubby also can eat what ever he wants and not gain weight. He would always offer me stuff that I was trying to avoid. He also thinks I'm beautiful no matter what. Isnt it nice to have someone who truly, truly loves us as we are? He offers me stuff because he is polite. It has taken him about a year to learn not to offer. I would nicely tell him each time Please do not offer me anything. Just like a child it took a long time but he has gotten better. That said, yesterday was my b'day and I had a salad and a Dairy Queen Blizzard. Been waiting for that.

Another way I help my husband not offer me stuff is I bake (I LOVE to bake) him stuff that I dont like, or I make sugar free desserts, as desserts are my weakness. But usually once a week I give myself a treat (like the Blizzard) or I wouldnt be good the rest of the week. It took me almost 1 year to lose 35 lbs so far. I totally went off at Christmas with Christmas cookies (did I say I love to bake and desserts are my weakness, lol). But thanks to this website I'm back on track. It's nice to have a support group.

Good morning, everybody!

Sometimes, our families sabatoge our best efforts because of their own insecurities . . .

Perhaps if you reframe your thinking in terms of better health, more energy, glossier hair . . . Baby steps - add healthy things like veggies and choose to say no thank you to less healthy things. After a while, it just becomes the way you eat.

It was probably easier for me, because I don't care if I get skinny or not - I am what I am - BUT if I DIDn't go on the diet I risk heart problems, circulation problems, eye problems that could result in premature death, blindness or loss of appendages. It was pretty clear, if the family want me around long term, they will support my efforts. Period.

Chosing wellness makes it a easy to choose to eat healthier and delay the 'instant' gratification of mindless eating. Losing weight is a very nice bonus :) I don't make a point of saying oh, i can't have this or that, I just put less of it on my plate, or say I'm full, just give me a bite of yours. And then I have that bite and savor it and stop. Usually. Except for last Sunday and what I will henceforth refer to as the "great carrot cake debacle".

Today
Pool done - only 10 minutes in the gym - I hurt everywhere.
Grocerys done
cooking, baking and packing underway.

Sunny this morning for a couple hours, but now it's clouding up again. Just 10 miles west of here they got snow measured in feet. we got rain. Odd, how that works.

Happy day, all.

Holly,

I'm sorry you are going through a rough patch. :goodvibes

I want to take a minute and point out that you are in fact fighting two halves of yourself.

Let's give them names, shall we? The first is Right Now (rn for short) Right Now you want to eat that something, whatever it is. The other half is Long Term (LT) your over all health and well being. It turns out the LT is controlled by a lot of decisions made RN, and that is something to keep in perspective.

When faced with a choice, try to look at the long term, and view the choice in light of it getting you where you want to go.

I'm also in favor of printing out good quality prints of Lynne in CC and in her formal gown, and hanging them in your place of temptation (kitchen, dinning room). Those are pictures of a woman who was focused on LT, and got there!

Keep trying! You can do this, I know it!!!! :thumbsup2

Katherine

Thank you to all of you for understanding :) Katherine, thanks for helping me visualize it- it makes it easier to get through it.

I will resume with the food journal on Monday. Until then I am going to try to make a long term plan and be easy on myself as I figure it out. I will still continue to be focused on eating healthy and working out but I will not be journaling.

I hope you all are having a great week- I am going to MK for one day next weekend and can't wait :) It is my nieces first visit! Have a great weekend everyone!

Cheerio,

Holly

Holly, so sorry your having trouble with finding what you really want to do:hug:. I've been there and that is why it took 5 years after DD was born to get the weight off and why I've been yo-yoing with about 15 of those pounds since.

Tami, Happy Belated Birthday! I hope I can do well next week with mine.

I'm continuing to go to the gym everyday with my new workout buddy. She's gone to Dallas this weekend though so I'll either go by myself or hopefully DH will feel like going with me.

I have decided too that I'm going to try to do a 5K. We're going to start training soon before it gets too hot and humid. I know that I'll have to keep it up in the summer but I figure it'll be easier to run in the summer if I'm already conditioned to running.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

I haven't done so well since we started this weight loss group. Why does it seem celebrations involve food and alcohol. It is hard to not indulge when everyone else is. Last weekend I chaperoned our church's youth group to go skiing for the weekend. Lots of fastfood for our meals. I weighed 151 last Monday(up 2 lbs). did well during this past week and then on Friday night was a girlfriends' 80's party. It was a lot of fun, but once again ate too much. Hopefully I will be back to my starting weight tomorrow.

Work has been absolutely crazy and homelife even busier, so I have not been able to keep up with this thread or the PC thread. Also I did not make it to the gym last week

Tomorrow is a new day and I will start journaling my food consumption, I will not want to post any sugary items on this thread.

Good luck to all this week!!!
