Panama Canal Weight Loss/Weight Maintenance Motivation Group

Hey ladies :)

Back from Vermont. Had a wonderful relaxing weekend with DH which was nice since he has been working long 12 hour days lately :(
Glad you had a nice weekend with your honey!

We had our joint birthday dinner (I ate veggies and only the toppings off the pizza and one little piece of edge) but one of the women brought carrot cake - my favorite. I didn't stop at 3 bites.:sad2: I didn't stop at 6 bites. :sad2: I ATE THE WHOLE piece:guilty: Tomorrow is another day. Thank goodness.

Happy Birthday!!!
Well, we've got 4 birthdays in my house over the next 18 days so I'll be indulging in some cake too. My dad's is tomorrow but he's not big on cake so I won't make one (save me a few calories!). However, mine is 3/3 and I WILL have cake. Then, DS is on 3/12 and DDs is one 3/13 and I'm sure I'll have a little cake then too. Gotta celebrate my babies' birthdays too:goodvibes

Anyway, I guess I did okay this weekend. For exercise yesterday I did the elliptical for 35 minutes and 20 minutes lower body strength/resistance training. Plus, I mowed the yard. It's not a big yard but it is a push mower and takes me about 35-45 minutes so I burn a few extra calories when I do it. DH tries to convince me to let him do it, but I actually enjoy mowing the yard. However, I leave the weed eating to him! For today, I did the elliptical for 30 minutes, upper body strength/resistance for 20 minutes and then we rode around the neighborhood on our bikes for about 30 minutes.

Food, I think I did okay but don't remember everything. I probably snacked too much but that is so easy to do on the weekend. I plan on doing a better job during the week keeping track of my food. Right now, I'm hungry but shouldn't be. I'm trying to forget about it.

For those of you looking to start running, run, don't walk over to the Couch to 5K website. I was actually doing it and succeeding before my recent health issues. And I know people who weren't runners now doing half marathons off of this plan.
It does work!

I so wish I could do this but as a big chested woman running is just not possible. :sad2: Even working out on the wii fit I wear two sports bras and it isn't enough. I am hoping after I lose the weight I can get a breast reduction and then I can run :)

Holly,

I don't think it was the fiber that caused the upset - I think it was the sweetener used in those items - probably Maltitol. I eat a lot of fiber with no issues.

My goal? Well, I'd LOVE to drop another 45, but I won't beat myself if it's less. Stretch goal is 177, reasonable goal is 195.

OK, today was my day to be bad - really bad.

Thanks for the tip- I will have to be on the lookout for that! I will put 195 down for you, I have my goal set at 150 though i would like to hit my reach goal of 135. Who knows, in a few months we may both pass our soft goals! Carrot cake doesn't count as cake..it's a vegetable ;) don't sweat it, weekends are tough, especially ones where you are celebrating, just get back on the horse tomorrow :)

Glad you had a nice weekend with your honey!

Thanks :) Birthdays are tough- you have a busy few weeks ahead! Good luck with it, and just think portion control :) Sounds like you had a very busy and productive weekend! I wish I had the stamina to workout for that long, i am still building up to it I guess. Fight the hunger! Drink water, you may just be thirsty. I read an article on yahoo health that said when we think we are hungry, usually we are just craving water! I have started drinking when I think I am hungry and usually that's what it is :)

Ok, so here is my day:
FOOD:
90 cal special k bar (chocolatey pretzel-YUMMY!)
salad: lettuce, carrot, celery, .5oz cheese, 2tbsp lt italian dressing, 1/2 pita pocket
100 calorie apples w/caramel snack
5pt WW meal- broccoli and potatoes w/cheddar (a fave, can you tell?)
100 calorie cheddar goldfish
1 small slice of leftover quattro formaggio pizza

I also did the wii Just Dance for 30 minutes- I am really enjoying it. it is definitely working me out. I end up sweating and panting like crazy and I can feel my muscles aching :) I am excited for my first weigh in tomorrow, I think I did good my first week. I am sure that most of what I lose will be water weight but I will be happy none the less and use it to motivate me to lose more! Have a great night ladies

DON'T FORGET TO WEIGH IN TOMORROW AND POST HERE, PM OR EMAIL ME AT hollykrehel@comcast.net SO I CAN POST RESULTS ON THE CHART AND POST ON TUESDAY!

Cheerio,

Holly

Anyone used the scales in the vista spa? DH and I do our WW weigh ins on Monday and we were wondering how accurate they were.

Morning Everybody!

Carmie - GOOD workouts! YEAH!

Holly, you sure didn't eat much! Where was the protein?

4 Birthdays is exactly why we have one bash - Bruce's is 2/4. Horst is 2/22, mine is 2/23 and Lyn's is 3/2, so we celebrate once. I *will* be good today.

Still sore from the boxing video - I guess my regular workouts must have used different muscles, lol. Anyway, off to the gym in half an hour.

Happy Day, all!

Hey linda :)

Yeah, yesterday was not a good day for me all around. I was feeling the last remnants of a poor tummy and wasn't really paying attention to what I was eating. I try to be more balanced than that. You will be happy when you see my journaling tonight I think :) Thanks for checking in with me though, it is good to know that peopel will not only hold me accountable for bad things but also make sure I am eating right and healthy  THANKS!

WEIGH IN TIME LADIES!!!! PLEASE GET ME YOUR NEW WEIGHT IN ANY WAY YOU CAN: PM, EMAIL OR POST HERE!

I will be posting our first weigh in tomorrow :) I just want to say how proud I am of all of you for all the work you have put in and all the help and support you have given me. THANK YOU!!!

Cheerio,

Holly

I'll be the first. Only down one pound from last week :( 141. I thought I worked harder than that and I feel like I've been pretty good on my diet. But, it's better than one pound up!! Hopefully next week will be better.

That's why I do it - because I hope someone will jump on MY Butt or give me suggestions !!!!

I think 219.5 is a good number. I've been hovering around 219 for two weeks.

Motivation came in the mail today - a drop dead GORGEOUS dress from Tami! If I get to the point I can fit in it, I WILL wear it. No. Let me rephrase that. WHEN I get to the point I can fit in it, I will wear it. Thank you, Tami!

That's right, WHEN! You will reach your goal! Clothing can serve as major motivation. It did for our Dec cruise.

I weigh in on Tuesdays so I'll post my weight first thing in the morning!

I used the one in the ladies locker room on the Magic and, given my normal fluctuation from one day to the next, I would say it was spot on.

I've had a good couple of days eating wise. I found these 80 calorie apple slices with lowfat caramel. It helps to get the fruit anyway! I got more than my fair share of fruit and veggies today.
I need to still post the lomein recipe. We should do a recipe swap on here

So I was back on track yesterday and today - no more McDonalds!! Now if I could just get back into exercising. Tomorrow for sure:thumbsup2

HEY LADIES :)

I AM MISSING WEIGHTS FOR THE FOLLOWING:

catwoman25
Tami0202
JenKatt (who said I would get it tomorrow ;) )

Thanks!!

Good evening :)

I had an odd day. I wasn't really hungry, which I can promise you is VERY weird for me. I had to force myself to eat dinner and even then I didn't get much down. I didn't exercise either, I was supposed to go on a walk with my mom when I went to visit her today but we wound up running errands instead. By the time I got home it was too late to walk and I had a lot of house cleaning to do. I spent most of the day doing laundry, dishes, cleaning the dining room, cleaning out the fridge (actually cleaning, not eating, lol), and just general picking up. I guess that is considered exercise by some standards though it was pretty low impact! Anyways, here is the day...I had a good start but I was so not hungry this evening that I kinda ruined the rest of the day :(

Food:
1 high fiber 100 calorie english muffin w/ 1tbsp of pb
3 medium pieces of assorted melon
pb and jelly sandwich :)
1/2 granny smith apple
handful of baby carrots
100 calorie cheese cubes
garlic dill new potatoes w/ 1tbsp of butter
60 calorie jello pudding

LindaBabe- I think I did better with my food pyramid today...I know I need more protein, I seem to have a hard time fitting that in. I am gonna have a ham sandwich for lunch tomorrow to help add to my protein goal. Any other suggestions? I know that some of the foods I ate today had protein but I could use advice on something that will give me an extra boost :)

Cheerio,

Holly

Holly,

I don't have any in my house to give you specifics, but Trader Joes has a couple of good protein bars that are easy on the tummy and a good source of other nutrients.

Thanks Katherine :) I will take a look, i just picked up a couple of LUNA bars tonight which are advertised as good meal "replacers". I will have to see how the nutrients are in those and possibly pick up other brands at Joes :)

Meat, fish, cheese, eggs, poultry, or dried bean dishes, tofu all contain proteins.

gotta go to the gym. I'll be back to post later.

I love greek yogurt!!! Lots and lots of protien. My favorite brand is Chobani and any of the fruit flavors. Its a bit higher in calories (140 or 3 WW points), BUT it has 14 grams of protien (28% of DV) and NO fat.
I've been mixing it in with a half a cup of mixed berries in the morning and making a meal out of it. It will hold me most of the morning. (I do have it with a high fiber vitatop).

A Personal Trainer I had said that the Luna bara and Lara bars are very good snack options, but not good as entire meal replacements. She did say watch the sugar, some of them get pretty high. My favorite is the Caramel Nut Brownie one.

Back from the gym only 5 minutes on the cross trainer, enough to get warmed up, then weights for arms - oh man, am I needing to work those arms - that dress is more bare than I have worn in DECADES - so arms, back extensions, abs and pool.

Yesterday, I ate
snack
1/2 whole wheat flat w sl cheese sl turkey before gym

breakfast
bacon, eggs, melon and the other half ww flat

Lunch
veggies with dip
toppings off the last pizza from Sunday

Supper
baked chicken
1/3 sweet potato
broccoli
more veggies & dip
3 inch piece of the low carb coffee cake (while dh ate some more of the carrot cake.)

not sure how I feel about bars - I've never eaten one - and i'm thinking finding something else to like is probably not such a good idea. I tend toward pretty simple foods.

Have a good day, y'all!
