Panama Canal Weight Loss/Weight Maintenance Motivation Group

I'm with you Linda, I'm not so sure about bars. When I ran (HA!) I would have them, but even the Luna bars (which are tasty) usually left me hungry in a bit. I'd rather some fruit or something.
You do have to be very careful on the sugar content of bars. Some of them are really geared towards marathon runner types who need the carbs, not for people loosing weight.

Good Morning Ladies!

Here's my food from yesterday.
Breakfast: Special K w/skim milk
Snack: cashews
Lunch: Turkey sandwich on whole wheat break with romaine lettuce. No cheese or dressing
Snack: More cashews
Dinner: Special K w/skim milk, 1 chicken fried steak finger. I made chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and gravy for my dad for his b-day. I know how terrible it is so I ate just one small piece to get the taste and then had the special K.

I know, where's the veggies! I have got to incorporate more veggies into my diet. Plus, I know I need more protein. I need to look for that Greek yogurt JenKatt mentioned. How does the taste compare to regular yogurt?

Exercise: 33 minutes on elliptical, 20 minutes lower body strength/resistance training. I now have a friend going to the gym with me. She's going to Maui in 2 months and wants to loose to some weight. It's nice to have buddy to go with.

Greek yogurt is very different from regular yogurt. It's much thicker/ creamier. (All that protien). I've tried a few brands and I like Chobani the best, especially with the fruit, that really helps cut the thickness.

Ok, here's my story. I found this thread last week and thought I would ask to join your group. Then on Thursday, I had my annual checkup with dermatoligist. He decided he wanted to remove a lump I've had on my lower leg for a couple of years (some changes in it). He sent me to Plastic Surgeon because there would be less scarring. The PS removed the lump, stitched me up, put a splint on my leg, told me to go home, elevate my leg and not walk on it for 3weeks. Today they called to say the lump was benign and so I asked if I really had to sit for 3 weeks. Didn't like the answer I got, so now I am confined to the house, with my leg propped up on a pillow, was ok for the weekend, but not now.

Anyway, I wanted to ask if I can join in 3 weeks. :flower3:

Of course you can. Take the time to heal and good luck on a speedy recovery :) We will be here waiting for you when you are ready!

I don't see any reason you can't be considered "joined" right now! :goodvibes

You're not going anywhere, and we're a talkative bunch, hang out and join in when ever you want, no waiting needed.

I'm very glad the lump was benign, and I'm glad it's off of you. Hey, is that cheating to have weight surgically removed? :rotfl:

Welcome!

Katherine

Welcome! You poor dear!

Don't wait three weeks! You can start healthy eating and regular water consumption now. Also, how about isometric exercises, leg lifts and arm exercises with weights (like canned veggies if you don't have weights) you gotta do something to keep busy.

Thanks for the welcome and words of encouragement. The eating part is going to be easy for the next 3 weeks. I have to wait for someone to bring me food:rotfl2: DH is something of a stickler (he has to be for health reasons) about eating and so all of my 3 meals and 2 snacks have the right balance of protein, carbs, etc. The best are the dinners, he really knows how to stir fry the veggies and shrimp and his main course salads are delish:love: My problem with food will begin when I am mobile again, can't stay away from sweets. Maybe 3 weeks of not having any will help me decide I can live without them. I'm going to try to keep up with the upper body exercising so that hopefully I can maintain and not gain a ton of weight from immobility.
At the very least, at the end of 3 weeks our cruise scrapbooks from last June and this past January should be finished:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Hey everyone, looking for some collective wisdom

I recently started eating greek yogurt as part of my diet, since then I started I have had tummy issues (which surprised me as yogurt is supposed to relieve tummy issues). Now it might be a hang over from a tummy bug I had about 7 days before I started eating the yogurt, but I am not convinced about that. I did feel better the other day, then had more yogurt and the pain came back.

Has anyone else heard of or experienced this kind of issue with greek yogurt?

I have no known issues with milk products at all, and regular yogurt was OK. :confused3

-Kay

I actually had the same thing the first few times I had Greek yogurt. My stomach just didn't feel right. Might be the high protien content. I have no issues with it now. I also changed brands to Chobani (which I've never had issues with)

No experience with Yoghurt here, never have liked it. No gym or pool today, but I shoveled - a path out to shake the trees and uncover the bird feeder. That will have to count as exercise. Ate healthy, but we're going out tonight for our delayed dinner, so we shall see.
