We cruised through the old locks a few years ago. If someone here has cruised through both the old locks then the new, please describe the differences.

The EBPC is currently sailing. I was supposed to be on it. Hopefully someone will answer you.

I am doing a partial transit on Princess in January because that’s what I wanted to find out personally. What’s the difference??

There is a trip report "making history" I think it's called that talks about the new locks.

Here is what the new locks looked like in May 2013 (Pacific Side) .... :rolleyes1

These are between the Pacific Ocean and the Miraflores locks.

From the photos I've seen there is quite a lot more room between the ship and the side of the lock.

I've done both. The new locks are much bigger. The new ones don't use trains like the old does. We talked with one of the crew afterwards and they didn't seem to be very pleased with how the new locks were working compared to the old. But, it didn't really feel much different to us. Except we were often talking about how much more room there was.
