Panama 08/17 With Andrew Derek

This has been a great TR so far, I'm jealous! What a wonderful experience this must have been. Thank you for sharing with us. :goodvibes

Thanks, Andrew, for sharing your cruise experiences with us. Great report! Safe travels home.

Andrew....what a great way to celebrate your anniversary (and a birthday as well).

I think seeing Christiaan dance in the crew talent show far beats seeing AJ and Ally sing.

I hope you had a chance to talk to him as he's just as delightful one-on-one. I think he's more personable one-on-one than Rachel.

And yes, Christiaan is well aware of the resemblance between him and Que.

I agree completely with this. Never found Rachel very warm. THought Christian really fit the bill. Brent was okay but the long gone Andy remains my favorite. Ciao for now. :goodvibes

:cool1: Thx for sharing, hope all goes well as you head back to Port Canaveral!

Andrew, thanks for taking the time to do your trip report. I felt like I was there. Hope you have a safe trip home and belated Happy Anniversary wishes.

Bev

Yes, thank you Andrew for taking the time to write this report. You should be nearing PC if not already there when I type this, so your wonderful cruise is over, and I know how that feels.

Me, too. Heard that Andy is supposedly still with Silversea. Que is now cruise director on one of the NCL ships.

Maybe when the new ships come out that our long-gone favorites will find their way back to DCL.

I agree, Andy and Que are two of my all time favorites on DCL!:thumbsup2

Andrew - I've thoroughly enjoyed your trip report and look forward to finding out how the balance of your trip went and if you felt any effects from Hanna?

Ok sorry for the gap, last days were very busy.

We had a great day at Castaway cay albeit we had rain about 9.00am for 20 mins or so, my DW was out on a bicycle ride at the time and there isn't any protection on the routes.

Apart from that there were no storm issues, we were sandwiched between the two named storms and just changed our route to CC, to avoid the effects of gusto, going the Atlantic route.

CC was then hot all day, Cookies BBQ was great, I went for a Cycle ride myself later, and we had float rentals as well.

We were off early at 8.15am, there was the usual Hammock spirit, we just wanted bed in the shade and went for those, at 11am I went for a walk along the beach counted 20 odd hammocks only towels on them, I didn't see a single person in them at all! Why do people do this?

At 4pm we went back to the ship, they had a BMX Cycle demon station on the port deck, and we had a great view form our room, they set up some ramps and he did stunts a big crowd developed. There was a raffle and my son won a prize of $20 not sure if we can use it here or next year in the states if it lasts that long.

We collected our Port Canaveral pins dropped off by the Wonder, and went to our dinner till we meet again, with the Baked Alaska's, it was sad to say good bye. After 15 nights of food service.

We had the evening show till we meet again and it had guest comedians and Rich Puppura gate crashed it.

Last night at sea was calm and we pulled into PC at 6am. I noticed it as soon as we turned into the basin, as the lights moved around our stateroom from the verandah.

We had immigration at 6am, why do they do that?? at that hour? but it was fast and we were back to our room for 6.20am.

Breakfast was good they had a good new final breakfast menu lots to choose from and named on leaving themes like Route 66.

We said final byes at 7.45am, and expected the ship to be cleared to leave by then, but no, there was massive crowds and the ship didn't allow people to disembark until 8.10am. We had a car booked for 8.15am, collected our luggage, all Porters we being used as there was a massive rush out, so we took our luggage ourselves to the Car, again due to everyone being bunched up due to the delay getting off, the Cars were all held in the Car park and couldn't get out.

Finally we got ours and was at MCO Hyatt by 9.15am, and had a day room, we went to the roof pool, and had a swim, then shopping so lots of Dissers around MCO, had lunch and then checked in at 1.30pm, Went to get our final hand luggage from the room and went to the Delta lounge through security.

Out flight left 10 mins early!! But due to the heavy winds touched down here in the UK, 10 mins late.

So thats it, we have photos navigators, Castaway Club gifts and big belly's to remember 15 nights on the ship.

Its all over, it was overall very enjoyable

Final thoughts, well we had Aly and AJ and their family next to us for the last part of the cruise, interesting to see a lot of concierge going back and forth to attend to there needs, There were little young boys trying to find out what cabin they were in and knocking on our door, and we had phone calls from girls asking if they could speak to them, I presume the actual room phones would have been blocked to Guest services to stop this.

Palo afternoon tea, I put this on my comment card, sorry for repeating but it was bad, I hope anyone else who is upset also registers their complaint.

Kids clubs my children for the first time didn't use them much, they didn't like the changes in age groups and locations and there was some bullying in DS group, so they both gave up, a pity as they have loved going to these before.

I hope they change these back.

But the cruise overall was great and I would do it again and again if I could.

Thx again for the detailed reports........also glad to hear that the weather held out! Welcome home!!

Andrew,
You forgot one of the funniest performers! A BIG guy named Mike and his crew were hesterical!!! I was in absolute tears laughing when the poor Straigt Jacketed Jugler Jeff got a huge surprise! :rotfl:

Thanks for the review, You minded me of many many memories!

That is selfish

Oh dear about immigration and I wonder why they had doing it as Westbound we didn't handed them our passport or they took our passport away

Andrew

I did put my comment complaints about the kids club as they didn't put my daughter at show stage which she is very good acting as she is deaf. She can be comedy acting too. She was heartbroken when we came to watch it. We cannot believe and also we pointed out that the staff didn't have deaf awakeness.

I think Med Cruise kids club as the staff was brilliant than Westbound.

Thank you for your trip report during your cruise and I enjoyed to read it.

Now I cannot believe it over now.:sad2:

Next one : Wait until 7 Oct to hear about the Cruise.
