Everyone keeps saying, you can get the dessert from the Palo's bar w/ out Res. I've looked at the menu, and been told items from the brunch... and honestly...

The dessert is the thing I REALLY want...

plus the MC menu for last night looks good... I kinda DON'T wanna miss that...

so how does the dessert ONLY at the bar work??

Palo does have a small bar and I've never really seen anyone sitting there. I would just go up to Palo and ask if you can sit at the bar, have a drink, and maybe a dessert.

Remembering the dress code will probably also help. You may not be able to get a chocolate souffle as it has a long lead time to prepare but I would guess getting the other desserts would not be a problem.

Has anyone ever made a reservation at Palo's and just had dessert??

We were hoping to make a late reservation the last night on the ship to celebrate my Grandmother's birthday.

Thanks for any info.

I can't speak for the Magic, but on our September Wonder cruise we asked our server at brunch if we could come back and sit at the bar and just order dessert. She told us that we were not allowed to do that. I told her that I've heard from others that they have done it but she was confident that we couldn't. Maybe the bartender might feel differently??????? I honestly couldn't keep up with the food anyway. I don't think I ever spent a single minute on the ship feeling hungry! And I'm still dreaming about most of the desserts. The strawberry crepes at the deck party was my favorite. I needed to rebook because of that crepe!!!!!!!

Okay, mental note to self, try this in two weeks :)

IVANOVA...

If you do just dessert at Palo's please report back.

I would even be willing to pay the $10 fee, so that our group of 9 could have a table and enjoy our celebration, instead of sitting at the bar.

Does anyone know how long the evening show (8:30pm) is??
I am planning for us to eat our normal time (early seating), go to the show at 8:30pm then head to Palo's for dessert. If the last Palo's reservation is 9:30pm, I am just wondering if the show will be complete in an hour.

Disney Cruising is all new to me, so I have lots of questions.

Thanks for all your help.

I imagine you can get a late ressie time and tell the server you want to "skip" dinner and go straight to dessert.

I'll let you know if I succeed at sitting at the bar & ordering souffle.

When we cruised in June, I asked our server about the bar and if you could come up and just have a drink or two. There were two couples sitting having cocktails. His response was that "The bar is only for those waiting for their Palo reservations." So, if you want a drink before your dinner in Palo, you can go up to Palo's bar otherwise you can't just drop in. HTH

Well I have to disagree with what has been posted.

We definitely went to Palo and sat at the bar and had a drink and dessert (and yes, one of the desserts was the souffle.)

There was no reservation and no $10 charge--we did not make reservations in advance, and instead went to Palo that evening and asked if we could sit at the bar for drinks and dessert. We did this twice on the same cruise because the bar is so nice and quiet. The bartender was wonderful and made suggestions on wines for me to try.

If you want to sit at the bar at Palo by all means, go up there, (mindful of the dress code suggestion) and you should not have a problem at all.

We were on the 9/27 Magic and had heard on this board about dessert only at Palo's bar. We asked our brunch server (Ann Marie) and at first she said that it's not allowed. She then softened a bit to say "but there's always a way around". We didn't end up testing that theory as we were late dinner seating and we weren't every up for sitting in the bar at 10:30 PM waiting for dessert.

We did ask our head waiter (John from Scottland) on the last night if we could have chocolate souffles brought to us in our dinner rotation and he graciously accomodated us. There were several other people that did the same thing on the last night.

Best of luck getting your "just desserts". By the way, I have the receipe for the chocolate souffle from Palo's, although when I asked John about one detail to see if he was making it the same way the receipe I have says, he wasn't not. I haven't tried it yet but am going to do it soon.
