Palo

Adults only.....18+. They are very strict about the ages.

As they should be.

Edit to add: Just to clarify my response... DCL advertises "spaces for children, for families, and for adults". When they start encroaching on the adult spaces, they are going to risk losing some of their adult-only parties who love Disney and trust them that there will be some child-free spaces.

We asked our server in Palo on a recent cruise about a rumor I heard. Sounds like they may start alllowing under 18 to dine in Palo on embarkation day only. No time frame for when this might happen, or if there was some other age limit for this.

Some kids palletes are better than many adults. The problem is. We usually book first night at 6pm adults only and then go to MDR after with our kids.

Love Palo...love adult only.

Maybe check into the High Tea that they have on some cruises. I don't know too much about it but saw a post recently and it looked adorable for young girls.

Ugh. That would totally change my favorite thing to do embarkation day. :( If I book Palo, I am booking Palo for the food, yes, but also because it is calm, quiet, and child-free.

I hope this is just a case of a CM mirroring a questioners desired answers. Often the CMs are not any more knowledgeable about DCL decisions than the rest of us.

Fingers crossed that you are correct. It would be a slippery, slippery slope if they open it up one night. Then it will be whining that "we couldn't get a reservation for the first night" OR (more likely) "But the first night means we won't meet our servers!! And we have to BOND with them on the first night" to the point that it gets opened to everyone all the time.

I agree with those who wish to keep the adult areas "adult only". Without exceptions. Yes, wouldn't it be nice if everyone's "well-behaved, mature" child could just partake as they wish, but one reason I still like DCL (even though it "just for kids";)) is because there are adult-only areas. And, for the most part, they are enforced.

I meant fingers crossed it was just the mirroring of what the CM thought the person wanted to hear. NOT that it becomes kids allowed. I edited the other one for clarity.

I also hope Palo is adult only. DD finally was 18 in 2015 and we experienced our first Palo brunch and dinner together on an Alaskan cruise. The anticipation is part of the fun (to me more so than to DD). It is important that DCL offers choices to their guests of all ages, so adults and children can have their own space and also time to be together as a family.

I couldn't agree more! And I HAVE children (both under 10 at the moment). Mom and Dad NEED their adult-only kid-free time!!

The Royal Tea is for children 3-12 and their adult companion. Don't think a 13 yr old would be allowed in.

A 13 year old can go, but will be charged the adult price, and won't get the swag.

From the DCL website:

Please note that this special experience is designed for children ages 3 to 12 and their parents. Each child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian, 18 years of age or older. Children in attendance ages 13 to 17 will be charged the adult price. Solo adults are not eligible for this event.
