Do men have to wear ties and/or jackets? can they wear nice pants and a polo? thanks:)

The attire for brunch is a little less causal than dinner but still no jeans or tennis shoes.

I've always worn Slacks and a Polo.

Saw a guy in jeans (fashionably faded, ripped and torn:rolleyes1) get turned away. The lady with him was similarly dressed. 20 minutes later they arrived appropriately dressed and were allowed in.

Khakis and polo works every time for me. If you wore a dress shirt with blazer you wouldn't be overdressed either.

Polo's are fine. Most guys from what I remember wear dress shirts. Some wear jackets. Some don't. I don't remember many guys wearing tie's. (Nowadays I don't think many guys wear ties anyway unless they're in a full suit.) Occasionally I see some guys wearing their tux. So there's a pretty wide range.

Are polos acceptable at Polo dinner now or is a dress, long sleeved, button down shirt required?

The dress code on the DCL site says:

Dress code at Palo:

Men: Dress pants and dress shirt (a jacket is optional)
Women: Dress or pantsuit
No jeans, shorts, capri pants, flip-flops or tennis shoes

https://disneycruise.disney.go.com/planning-center/my-cruise-plans/faqs/onboard-dining/dining-attire/

It's not more specific than "dress shirt". I'm not sure a polo is a "dress shirt".

It seems like there used to be a different dress code for brunch. Is this not the case anymore?

So for you guys wearing polos, do you wear polos to dinner at Palo as well? I'm a little confused as DCL's dress code at Palo says dress shirt, and like PrincessShmoo, I don't consider a polo to be a dress shirt. I'd planned packing DH a white button down shirt with tie but if he can get away with a polo, even better! And we'd both rather that.

Only for brunch.

I've worn a polo into Palo brunch and fit right in (probably > 50% in polos), for dinner it was a shirt and jacket... but as far as the formal definition of the dress code I think the Polo shirt is hard for CM's to differentiate since there are short sleeve dress shirts, it would be hard to draw the line (like would they have to count how many buttons your shirt had to qualify)

the way I saw the brunch was it was country club attire, the thought that a polo wouldn't be appropriate never even crossed my mind.

DH wore a button down dress shirt to both dinner and brunch. I did not see many jackets and ties at dinner mostly dress shirts. At brunch there were a few polos but mostly button downs but DH certainly wouldn't have been out of place in a polo for brunch.

Brunch:
Polo
Slacks
Dress Shoes (and Socks)

Dinner:
Dress Shirt (pick a color, any color)
Tie
Slacks
Dress Shoes

The only time that I have NOT worn a dress shirt / tie to Palo dinner was when I rented a Tux for the cruise - I wore that to Palo (and looked totally Hot!! DW says that I live in Fantasyland :sad2:)

Seriously, dress shoes for brunch??

Hmmmm. Reading more and more about the dress code is turning me away from even wanting to enjoy a meal at Palo.... sheesh... :crazy2:

I think part of the experience of a meal at Palo is the opportunity to dress up. It's kind of like going to a fancy event or prom. It's optional, you don't have to, but for some, it's fun to do. I think nowadays, since there are few opportunities to dress up, people see it as more of an inconvenience than fun. If you just want to enjoy the food, you can go for the Royal Suites and have Palo delivered to you so you don't have to dress up to go.

I don't even know if my hubby has dress shoes anymore. Hmmmm. Might have to go find a pair for his size 15 monster feet. :joker:

I'll just point out that the dress code for Palo only specifies "no...flip-flops or tennis shoes". Doesn't say anything about "dress shoes" being required. They just want a more upscale look than what you find around the pool in there.

DH has a pair of what would be called "walking shoes" that are black. They look like "real" shoes. He's worn those to Palo with no problem.

My DH is a personal trainer. He has more pairs of expensive sport shoes than anyone I have ever met. He even has what I would consider "dressy" tennis shoes. LOL! Well, at least we have some time to try and find him a pair of acceptable shoes...
