Palo Brunch dress code

And thanks for the info, PrincessShmoo. As always, you are a WEALTH of information. :) :worship:

This is our "ticket" for Palo for 2013.

We did not receive this on our cruise last week but we did receive a call "reminding" us that jeans, shorts, t-shirts, flip flops and tennis shoes are not allowed.

I don't even know if my hubby has dress shoes anymore. Hmmmm. Might have to go find a pair for his size 15 monster feet. :joker:

I have size 15's too. I wear Rockport shoes. I find them to be the most comfortable. But you have the get the right kind - they make dress shoes that are just like other's dress shoes - uncomfortable.

When packing, I put a pair of my wife's shoes inside of my dress shoes because we need the space after my shoes take up half a carryon.

:lmao: Yes!
Kind of a hijack of this thread, but where do you even find nice shoes like that? DH has the hardest time finding much of anything, other than sport/tennis shoes.

I used to wear Rockports but I have switched to the casual wear Merrell's. They are cost more but hold hope 3 or 4 times longer and are very comfortable. You can also pull off their casual shoes as dress shoes without a problem.

This should get you in no matter who the manager is:

Brunch:

Men, slacks and a shirt that isn't a tee shirt. No jeans. No sandals and no shoes that look like athletic shoes.

Women, dress or pants (yeah I know, they say no capris but everybody wears capris - use your judgment on that one) and blouse or plain/patterned tee shirt (no overwhelming graphics, for instance I don't think I'd wear my Star Wars tee shirts in there). No jeans, no blue denim, no athletic shoes, no poolside type thong sandals.

Dinner:

Men - slacks and dress shirt. No jeans, no sandals, no athletic shoes. Tie and jacket optional (you need the jacket for Remy dinner)

Women, dress or pants and blouse. No denim, no athletic shoes, no poolside type thong sandals.

Really, if you make an effort to look like you didn't just come from the gym, spa or pool all but the most extra strict managers should be OK with your attire.

I go to the Factory Outlet Stores to find my shoes. They usually have "Goofy's" shoes on sale. Or at least a few styles in my size. It seems that Rockport's are in the same stores as Rebock.

When snorkeling on CC one time I asked for the largest flippers they had and they still were not big enough. I gave them back and then they said that I could use Goofy's flippers - and those did fit ::yes::

The dress code on the DCL site says:

Dress code at Palo:

Men: Dress pants and dress shirt (a jacket is optional)
Women: Dress or pantsuit
No jeans, shorts, capri pants, flip-flops or tennis shoes

It's not more specific than "dress shirt". I'm not sure a polo is a "dress shirt".

This is my problem, I'm not sure it is considered a "dress shirt" or not either. I hate to pack an extra shirt when I'm trying to stuff whatever I can for 12 nights in the Med. Every little bit of space matters.

Seriously, dress shoes for brunch??

Hmmmm. Reading more and more about the dress code is turning me away from even wanting to enjoy a meal at Palo.... sheesh... :crazy2:

What other people wear affects if you want to eat there?

I'm still unsure, can I wear a short sleeved button down shirt then? Ties and Jackets are no longer required (when they were I wore them as requested). I guess a short sleeved button down might be a good compromise, but I think a nice Polo looks better. Otherwise I look like a target manager. (which is fine, just not my preferred look :duck:)

That sir, is brilliant! :thumbsup2

So I can wear dress sandals but a man can't? He would wear them at a dressy restaurant here...

I think the difference is women's dress sandals tend to have bling on them (making them "fancier"). Men's sandals don't look like dress up type footwear.

Recently I have seen posts and/or comments about women being turned away because they were wearing capris. So, I would probably steer clear of those as well.

I've seen women turned away at Palo brunch wearing capris. I've also seen women wearing capris in Palo eating brunch. It's a gamble. It depends on the maitre d' on the door at the time.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back when I was in Jr. High and High school my friends would put their shoes on then put my shoes on OVER theirs and try and play basketball. Now that was funny to watch!

:rotfl2: LMAO!! We hosted a bridal shower at our house once and the bride's mom came in and asked me "Are those real shoes out front or are they dress up clown shoes?" :lmao:

I think the dress code has changed for brunch. We have eaten brunch a few times and DH always wore chinos, polo shirt and sandals. In April as she was seating us the maître d said technically sandals aren't allowed could he make sure he had shoes for our dinner booking. My DH got the last laugh. When we went for Palo dinner, the same maître d was there. My husband said "I have shoes on this time, but I forgot my trousers!" the shocked look on her face was funny until she realised he had a kilt on!

From Disney:

Thank you for choosing a Disney Cruise Line vacation!

I would be happy to assist you.

A "dress shirt" is a garment with a collar, and a full-length opening at
the front from the collar to the hem that is buttoned.

Polo shirts are not considered to be a "dress shirt" as they are
pull-over style shirts and are not buttoned all the way up (buttons are
generally by the collar only).

Palo is our romantic alternative restaurant exclusively for our Guests
18 years and older. To maintain this elegant feeling during the various
dining options, a dress code is in place for the Palo Champagne Brunch
and Palo Dinner.

-Palo Champagne Brunch:
Men - A dress shirt or jacket is required.
Women - A dress or pantsuit is recommended
No swimwear, shorts, tank tops or jeans

-Palo Dinner:
Men - A dress shirt or jacket is required.
Women - A dress or pantsuit is recommended (semi-formal type attire)
No swim wear, jeans, shorts, Capri pants, sandals, flip-flops or tennis
shoes.

Of course I'm sure there are 'exceptions' and others than have gotten in with out compliance, but this is what disney says at least. Do with it what you may, but looks like I'm packing a dress shirt.
