Hello all,

Just returned from US this morning after topping off the 10/22/05 cruise in fine style at the Grand Floridian. All I can say at this point is that Disney really do know how to look after their guests. I can only describe the whole Disney experience as awesome.

Now to the point of this particular thread. At the risk of getting flamed, all I can say about the fabled Palo Souffle is - overated! There, I have said it, now I feel a little better.

More later?

:rolleyes1

Really, Wow...I thought that was one of the finer things....I guess that is why we all have different taste buds...Whatever floats your boat!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:rotfl:

My dw and I really liked Palo, But, I would not have to to do it again, but like you say everyone is different. :cool1:

I have had the souffle many times and each time they are different. The last time I had it was the BEST!!!

I absolutely love the souffle, but my DH would agree with the original poster. That's the wonder thing about DCL - so many desserts - so little time!

I plan on ordering it when we got to Palo, but you know, I've never had souffle, and I've often wondered if I'll like it. I wonder if the texture will be to my liking. I don't care for molten lava cake...ehhh...plain chocolate cake with melted choc. in the center *yawn* Hate bread pudding b/c of the texture. And isn't souffle supposed to be pretty mushy? I've always assumed chocolate souffle tasted like a still hot and not completely set brownie. So 'dunno. Good thing dessert isn't extra ;) I can try it without feeling like I've wasted money.

I thought it was just 'okay' -- perhaps that is because I was so full from dinner? I actually felt sick to my stomach from ODing on chocolate.

Now the stollen bread with fresh whipped cream and berries? that is another story. I absolutely LOVED that!!!

I agree. I am a certified chocoholic and I don't even think it's all that. The panne cotta is perettyyyyy good though I must say! ;)

The only other souffle I have ever had that could compare to Palo is at Greg Normans Grille in Myrtle Beach. Yummmm.........I might have to take DH into a trip there for the souffle....and a glass of Merlot.

There are some really great little eateries in Myrtle Beach! My best friend lives there and whenever we visit she takes us to the neatest places!

I still maintain (again, at the risk of being flamed) that the best thing about Palo is not the dessert, but:

NO KIDS!

A nice, intimate dinner with the woman I married, on a glorious ship. Who could ask for more?

OK I can.

Staying at the GF pre cruise AND putting the kids in a connecting room!

Keep the Souffle!

Jim

Order the souffle just to try it, but definitely try the panna cotta.
Both husband and I thought it was super yummy pirate:

Andy, As long as you don't want to have dinner with the women I married, we'll do just fine!

The panna cotta was yummy! But so is the souffle! And the creme brulee is heavenly! What can I say - I loved it all! :teeth:

Now let's talk pizza - the pizza they serve (unless they've changed it since January) was disgusting! Even my kids hated it! :rotfl:

I'm right with you there! The souffle was nice enough but I wouldn't go out of my way for it. But that stollen bread? Wow! I could almost have that alone for brunch (and a few other meals too) and be completely fulfilled. Mmmmmm.

On our last cruise we decided to order the souffle just to see what the fuss was about. It was great, but not good enough to unseat my Number One favorite - Tirimisu (no idea how to spell that!).

I just read your post and we leave next week :cloud9: for a GF stay and our first Cruise ever (4 day on the Wonder). I would love if you would fill me in on how Disney takes care of us!

I asked that our two reservations (land/sea package plus a pre stay) be connected, and so far, not done. I am hoping we don't have to move rooms in the middle of our stay....

Please share if you can! :earsboy:

I have a Palo brunch question and this seems as good a place as any to ask it. :)

I had thought Palo only did brunch on at sea days? When I went to book it for my January cruise, it gave me the option of doing the brunch on the Key West day only. I'm perfectly ok with that since we're docked in Key West long enough for me to have brunch and then go shopping, but I just wanted to make sure this wasn't a glitch over at DCL. Do they always have Palo brunch available on Key West day since the Western has one less at sea day than the Eastern?

Thank you very much in advance. :teeth:
