I think McCain needs a well deserved break right now.
It doesn't take a whole lot of energy to come before the press for a few minutes and make a statement reputiating what people are saying.
Anyone who ever supported Sarah Palin as a candidate, a woman, and a person should be looking to McCain to come out and just say "Hey, leave her alone." That's all it would take. But even at this point, it would seem like a pretty empty gesture. I understand perfectly the concept of sending a spokesperson out to make statements for you, but with something this big, that involves the reputation of someone as close to you as your VP running mate, I would think that it would warrant a few minutes of your own time to make a quick statement. At this point, it seems as though John McCain is perfectly OK with allowing Sarah Palin to be the scapegoat for the failure of the entire campaign. Just my opinion. And I'll assume that my opinion is perfectly welcome, since we're already seeing so many opinions of the job that Barack Obama is doing. And he's not even in office yet!
