Palin on SNL

I thought the first one was just OK but the second one was pretty cute :).

What was funny about Reno's appearance is that it was so unexpected. Will Ferrell's hilariously hulking, slow talking imitation of her seemed so mean, there's no way anyone could have imagined that even Janet Reno thought is was funny.

As far as Palin's appearance, I thought both skits were funny, although Fey was the funniest thing about the first skit and Pohler was the funniest thing about the second skit. Seemed they only intended to use Palin as a prop, with all the action happening around her...

...because Tina Fey and Amy Pohler are godesses supreme!

And, I would think by this point, Palin is used to being treated like a prop ;)

I agree, this opening skit fell flat...

I fell asleep before the update, but found it now on NBC's site. My kids are wondering why I am laughing out loud at my computer screen. This was hysterical, and although I still don't want to see her as VP, Sarah Palin's participation in this skit made me like her and want to sit down and have a beer with her..:rotfl:

She's a good sport!

I wish we could have seen her and Tina Fey stand next to each other in the opening skit..

I am not a fan of her in general, but I thought she did a good job! :)

I agree with others that I'm sure there was only so much she was allowed to do and say.

I don't think she is an actress or a comedian but overall I thought she was a great sport.

I also think it was a very good move, considering the press she has been getting lately. People with so much negative press like she gets, tend to make a smart move when coming on to SNL-seems to make the media not take everything so seriously after that.

I saw that, too. I'm thinking it was there because it's the democrats' symbol... I don't know.

I didn't think about that, but could be part of it.

But the donkey was used in the Mark Whalberg skit later in the show.

I do think they need to let her go on Letterman though like McCain and Dave were talking about when he was on. They need to let her out so people can see the authentic Sarah Palin (and not the scripted "authentic" one). Based on interviews of her I've seen of her prior to her VP pick, I think most people (save the liberal partisans) would actually find her intelligent, interesting, and engaging.

I find funny that no one but me seems shocked at the "You're dead 'cause I'm an animal!" line on the rap segment (when she "hunted" the "moose"). When I heard that I went  (couldn't find a "jaw dropped to the floor" smilie).

I couldn't believe they said that to her face.

I agree that it could have been funnier, I think partly because the material was just kind of so-so and partly because she just wasn't delivering the lines.

But you know really the lady couldn't win...if she didn't do the show, then she's a bad sport. So she does the show and it turns out she isn't a top rate actress or comedienne, and she still gets skewered by some. She gave it a try and they seemed to treat her with at least a bit of respect ... so it is what it is I guess.

I found it interesting that there was no direct interaction between Palin and Fey. I wonder which one of them, or both, refused.

Wasn't it reported that SP had repeatedly called the show asking to be on it?

I didn't think about that, but could be part of it.

But the donkey was used in the Mark Whalberg skit later in the show.

It had to do with the skit where Andy Sandbergdid an imitation of Wahlberg a couple of weeks ago!

I guess I'm in the minority. I thought the opening was very funny. I am not a Palin fan, but she really was a good sport about it. I thought the weekend update portion was just ok.

Amy was really funny, but Sarah didn't do anything, at the end of the show Tina Fey was far away from her.

I thought both skits were funny. And she's got rhythm. LOL!

So you believe she would have agreed to appear in a skit that deliberately made fun of her? :confused3

Oh wait, she's on again on Weekend Update. OK, she didn't say much again. She's sitting next to Seth Meyer sort of bopping along to Amy Poehler and two guys dressed like moose rapping about her campaign and Alaska (which is as strange as it sounds).

I would have liked to have seen her do the rap skit. I think that would have been awesome! I would have been thinking to myself, "go Sarah!"

The best joke of the night was that Tina Fey was giving a press conference.
