Palin on SNL

well she's back on

well she's back on

AMY!!!!! That was excellent!!

Also, there was a second there at the very end when I thought, "Jane Curtin could have done a fantastic Sarah Palin!!"

ROFL!!! :rotfl2:

The opening wasn't very compelling, but I LOVED the Weekend Update segment with Sarah! :happytv:

Yeah, that's it. :lmao:

So you believe she would have agreed to appear in a skit that deliberately made fun of her? :confused3

Oh wait, she's on again on Weekend Update. OK, she didn't say much again. She's sitting next to Seth Meyer sort of bopping along to Amy Poehler and two guys dressed like moose rapping about her campaign and Alaska (which is as strange as it sounds).

OK, I admit it, maybe the writers are weak tonight (I though the show with Anne Hathaway was funny.) I still think if Palin were more willing to make fun of herself, they could have written something better.

The writing this season has been pretty blah, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was just another example of that.

I did just see part of the Weekend Update skit though. Bizarre, but funny. :rotfl:

Did you listen to the rap?:rotfl2: These are a few of my favorite lines "My Country 'Tis of Thee....from my front porch I can see...Russia and such." "All the Mavericks in the house put your hands up. All the plumbers in the house pull your pants up." "I built me a bridge...it ain't goin' nowhere.." :lmao: :lmao:

Well, crap. I stopped watching before the Update. I thought the intro was boring, so I gave up on it.

You never know with SNL. Sometimes the appearances are hilarious and sometimes they fall flat. I think they could've done more w/ Palin. Amy was funny, but I would have liked to see Palin participating more.

Anybody remember Janet Reno knocking down the wall? That was funny. :lmao:

I think it was dumb and she could have handled much better. Alec Baldwin was awful. My husband thought he kept saying the same thing because she was blowing her lines. I don't know.

What was funny about Reno's appearance is that it was so unexpected. Will Ferrell's hilariously hulking, slow talking imitation of her seemed so mean, there's no way anyone could have imagined that even Janet Reno thought is was funny.

As far as Palin's appearance, I thought both skits were funny, although Fey was the funniest thing about the first skit and Pohler was the funniest thing about the second skit. Seemed they only intended to use Palin as a prop, with all the action happening around her...

I thought it came off all right for Sarah Palin. You have to consider that she wasn't there all week to rehearse or anything, they had to give her stuff that could be worked out that day. And she's in the middle of the campaign, still, so she had to be able to poke a little fun, but keep her dignity as a candidate. I personally wasn't looking for some great comedy routine, but I thought she did a good job. Darn it!;)

Hmm..I thought she really fell flat. Maybe it was the writers...but she could have at least tried to have a little more fun with it--poke fun at herself a bit more- Have some fun with it! She should have done part of the rap.... There is a teleprompter...not like she has to come up with everything on her own.

In terms of keeping dignity during a campaign-- both McCain and Obama poked fun at themselves and each other at the roast the other night. People appreciated seeing another side of them

I think she did a great job. She is running a political campaign and has to be careful about how she will be perceived, and for the first time got it right. Not distasteful or over the top- just the right blend of poking fun at herself without looking stupid. Kudos to her- and this comes from an Obama supporter!

I think she did a great job, I didn't really expect her to do anything more than she did. I commend her for even going on there knowing she is not very liked there.

OT I can't even watch SNL anymore, what happened to the good old days when every skit was funny :confused3

It would have been funnier if Fey was on stage, and Palin stood up to ask her a question.

I thought the same thing.

The bit with Alec Baldwin was odd, too.

And what was up with the animal (donkey?) behind Palin & Michaels backstage?

I agree, it was short, not over the top, and she was a great sport letting Alec Baldwin go on and on about her like that. It wasn't the funniest skit Ive sen on SNL, but it wasn't awful either.

If SNL was really like they were years ago, you wold see a lot more jokes about ALL of them, not just primily focused on the Rep candidates. You have to admit, some of the Biden gaffes are prime for an SNL skit! but they pass them right by!
