My questions are in regards to Pal Mickey. Is it worth the cost of buying? I know it is expensive. I was just wondering if it is a smart purchase. My second question is, can it be used year after year? If so, does Disney have some way of reprograming it for you?

Thanks!

I think it was cute, but not worth it. we got it last year shortly after it came out. It was cute that he knew where we were. At MGM he told us to pull the rope in front of Indianna Jones but After a while it was agravating to carry that toy around my neck --I used a water bottle strap. Sometimes he would give info that was frustrating. We'd been in lind for Peter pan for about 20 min then Pal Mickey tells us that Cinderella or Bell was in front of the castle.

If they still rent it for a day I think that woul;d be enough, But after we paid so much we felt obligated to enjoy him and drag him with us. The kids now play with him and listen to his jokes every few months only. I think others have taken him back several times. There is supose to be an antenna in his nose, so he picks up waht ever current signal is being sent out, no need for reprograming.

We got a Pal Mickey when we returned a Christmas gift (sweatshirt WAY too big) and it was a wash, cost wise. We love him. We make sure we take him with us every day we go to the parks. The kids usually carry him, but if they don't, it's not a problem for me to clip him to my shorts or my fanny pack. He is updated every time you enter a park (as long as you are holding him "nose out.") He has informed us of things we had NO idea existed--and we consider ourselves Disney "pros!" The kids use him to play games during long, boring lines.

I would love for them to expand him to work on the ship or the Disney store!! :)

We always make up things that it would be funny for him to say like "Hey Pal, it's rope drop, now is the time for pushing and shoving." or "Hey Pal, what are you doing leaving the park? I know you still have $20 left in your pocket!" ;)

It'd also be nice if he could alert us to CM's having pins we need on their lanyard...."Hey Pal, if you hustle, there is a CM in Fantasyland that has the pin that will complete your set." ;)

Anyway, that's my $0.02. We love our Pal Mickey. :)

FYI, WDW will stop renting Pal Mickey's...I think the date is Dec 1. They will of course be selling him :)

OMG! We LOVE our Pal Mickey! He was so much fun to take to the parks! My boys are 6 and 9 and really enjoyed him. We bought ours used on Ebay -- cheaper than renting or about the same.

I was wondering the same thing disney memories. I am planning on looking on ebay for him. I will have a stroller so if i get sick of holding him i will put him in the basket. If anyone is planning on selling thiers let me know!

Sorry you won't be getting ours! We came to Disney for my hubby's 50th bday and I wanted to have surprises for him in the room to make it special. He doesn't drink or eat candy but he does love gagets. When he first opened Pal Mickey he said 'I'm not carrying that why did you waste your money' by 10am he wouldn't part with it and Pal Mickey came everywhere with us for the rest of the trip. He made us smile so many times, our favourite is when he asks you not to let him get wet on the kali river rapids. He now sits in our front room waiting with us until 2006 when he can come back to Disney with us! For the record we have no children! I just wish he worked in Euro Disney.

We bought our PAL MICKEYS when they first came out in the DVC resorts. We take them both to the parks each time we go. They are the best and really enjoy them with all the new info they constantly give out each time we return.

I just wish they would come out with others, like Minnie, Goofy, Pluto, Donald Duck. I'd love to add more of the family to our collection.

We have also commented on the use of it on the Disney Ships. We are advid cruises and would really like to have them work on the ship. Wouldn't that be great. "Now appearing in the lobby on Deck 3 is Cinderella and friends, The showing of (movie) is playing in the Walt Disney Theater".

Just a few thoughts.

the are discontinuing the Pal Mickey rentals, so he will only be available for purchase. I believe it's $60, that includes the 1st set of batteries.

As if the intercom announcements weren't enough? :(

"Hey Pal, today was the best weather we've had in WEEKS at Castaway Cay!" :D

My personal favorite is when he sighs and says "I just love spending the day with YOU!"
