Pal Mickey

I think you will find almost all the outfits at Build a bear are way too big for Pal. We took Pal to the BAB store and about the only thing that would not fall off him was a baseball cap.

So unless you are handy with a needle and thread and enjoy altering outfits, I would skip there.

Oh, I'm sorry - just passing along what someone told me - no real experience with BAB. :confused3 The outfits meant for him are so cute!

I purchased a Pal Mickey on our last DW trip and loved it. I was able to sell it on E-bay after the trip for almost what I paid for it new. If you are E-bay savy I would encourage you to purchase one new and sell it later if you choose. The price is not much different and the instructions about which hand to squeeze for what (jokes, games, etc.) would be important for first time users. It was a nice addition to the magic.

They are about $10 each - my favorite is the yellow poncho for rain days :rotfl2:

We were there a few weeks ago and the outfits are now about $13. They are really cute though.

Pal does take 3 AA's. Make sure to turn him off when he's not in the parks and they will last a lot longer.

hth!

For those that bought their from ebay, did you have any problems with it? I want to buy one Pal Mickey for each one of my DS's for our upcoming trip. I know that if I just buy one, there will be a constant fight over who gets to hold it. I found a place on ebay that I can practically buy 2 for the price of one. I just didn't know if it would be worth it if there was a higher chance of it having problems.

Just another tip - if the CM you buy him from offers to open the box and take him out for you - do it! He is fastened in by so many little plastic bits! Some CM's have special little tools to make it easier.:thumbsup2

We bought a Pal Mickey a few trips ago and honestly, it was more of a hassle to cart it around than it was worth. That being said, I saw TONS of people with their Pals and they seemed to really like them.

Our pal takes 3 batteries.

When we were there in Jan 08, Disney selected us to try a Nintendo DS software thing that was like Pal Mickey, only better. Much smaller, all computerized, told you when the charectors you wanted to see were nearby, gave current wait times for all attractions, etc. It was really cool. And there were interactive, familly type games to play while waiting in lines. Even our then 2 year old could play. I'm holding out that they go public with it and then we'll buy that and get rid of Pal Mickey.

Have a super trip!

$65 seems like a lot to spend but it sounds really cool! Now I'm in a pickle, I want one but have no money:-(

If you buy one on ebay does it matter which "model" you get? I mean, does one that is 2 years old still do the same things in the park as one that was bought a week ago?

Audrey, I'm not sure. Hopefully someone with more experience will help you answer that question. I just can't wait to get to WDW myself. :goofy:

My understanding is the "older" ones don't recognize some of the newer attractions. Some people also complain about these being harder to hear.

The newest model is the sorcerer. The one in the tuxedo also is supposed to be the same electronics as the sorcerer. If possible, I would try to pick up one of these two. I was able to get my hands on a very gently used sorcerer last year. He worked great and will return with us this summer.

My Pal was purchased in 2004. He picks up all the signals in the parks. Just so you know - have his batteries in and have him turned on when you go through the turnstiles. Nothing like having him start to shake at the gates so you can press his hand and you'll hear, "Welcome to Epcot!", etc.

And my 2004 guy works just swell as far as being able to hear him. When you press his hand, just hold him to your ear especially in the louder parts of the parks. If you did not catch all the phrase because of park noise, press his hand right away again and he'll repeat it once.

Enjoy the little guy.

Is the sorcerer really the latest version? I heard otherwise. I would prefer the sorcerer, but will take whatever i can get at the park.:tinker:

We really love our Pal Mickey. He has his own little suitcase and some really nice outfits.

We have enjoyed sending him with our friends. He has been back to Disney more times than us!:thumbsup2
