Any one every had a Pal Mickey. He is a 10 in stuffed Mickey that is a tour guide to WDW. It sounds like he could be a lot of fun. I have heard that he is about $65 at WDW. Some have purchased outside of park for alot less and had his software updated when they go to WDW.

We purchased one 4 years ago..and hope to use it when we return in May. I'm not sure about how it is updated...or if it can be totally udated. I wonder if it will update with new attractions that weren't there when we went last. We paid about $50.00 for it four years ago. At that time they came with a clip...I believe the newer ones may be a bit larger, and come so that you can wear it around your neck.

Ours clipped onto your pants..or whatever you wanted to clip it onto. I think they may have redesigned them so that they can be worn hanging around your neck. the clip idea was problematic. When departing Fla. we were in the Orlando airport. My husband went to return the car I took the kids to check in..and we at one point were caught up in a large crowd of people. Next thing I know I see my son has stopped dead in his tracks..and he's looking around. Mickey is GONE!:scared1: I approached security..and the various airline counters thinking maybe he had dropped it(although unlikely..since we had literally just entered the airport)....you should have seen the manhunt..errr..I mean mousehunt.:smickey: Took all kinds of information..and I wondered why all the interest. I figured security had better things to do. They explained that Pal Mickey's were new item at the time, and apparently my son wasn't the first kid who had his stolen in the airport. They were experiencing a rash of Mickey thefts! Can you imagine..stealing a toy from a child. :confused3
When I returned home, I was telling my neighbor what had happened..she asked me how we had paid for Mickey. We used American Express..she told me to call them..and explain what had happened. THEY REPLACED IT! I called the WL Mercantile..where we had originally purchased it and they sent us a new one!
My son is a bit too old for it now:cool2: ..(he's 16!..and wouldn't be caught dead with a stuffed animal) My daughter doesn't care..she plans to take Mickey back for the trip(packed in her carry one)..and see if we can't officially activate him for our trip next month!

Would be cool if they had a FW Pal Mickey.. dressed in his Coon skin hat with walking stick..like the logo!.:thumbsup2

We ordered ours from a Character Warehouse in Orlando and I think I paid around $40 dollars for it, including shipping. Now, you have to be willing to live with last years outfit on him. Anyway, my three kids took turns with him. All things considered, he was worth it and we will take him along again next year. He tells some cute jokes to the kids, plays a few games etc. that help to pass time in a line. We didn't carry him everyday as DH usually ended up carrying him by the end of the day. I have to say, I was glad I had gotten him at a discount. He was fun but we could have lived without him.

I wonder if he would be fun for a young at heart 50 and 60 year old. I read some were that he could be updated for the new attractions. We have reservations for May 14 - 21. I guess I will be on the hunt for a Pal Mickey.

We have had 4 Pal Mickey's (and clothes) and wouldn't leave home without him. My son's first one got stolen at All Stars and broke his heart so I bought him a new one but he didn't like that newer model so a DISer was nice enough to trade for the older model. Then we bought a new one last year and bought one for my Niece.

A lady I work with recently got one for her son and when they got it in they decided to buy another because she wanted to carry that one :goodvibes. He is a lot of fun, especially in AK where he says more. Just remember that the model matters. While his jokes are mainly the same between all models, everything he says is preprogrammed and can't be updated. So my older model PM for example won't say anything about Expedition Evererest or any of the newer attractions.

Personally I think they should make a PM that has phrases transmitted via wireless LAN or perhaps RFID transmitters.

I have seen several Pal Mickeys that are on Ebay and they seem much cheaper than buying them at the park.

I agree! We bought the original the week they were released but DS(11) has outgrown him...but not me ;) Maybe if I hold out a little bit longer hopefully they will implement something like this.

I found this info on another board. Thought it might be helpful for other who would like to update Pal Mickey. I just have to get one when we get there. Will let everyone know about are trip.

"Updating your Pal Mickey can be done as long as you do not have the original version. The original can not be updated, but all others can be taken to the Camera shop by Space Ship Earth in Epcot, they will update him for free. It may take a few minutes, your waiting time, then to plug him him for the download of the latest software. I have taken three there so far for updating."

Thanks! Now I have an excuse to buy another Pal Mickey! :thumbsup2

I am glad that he can be updated.

The 7 year old daughter of one of the managers where I work is going WDW a week after we get back. I can loan her my Pal Mickey. She is so excited about the trip she packed her suitcase 2 months ago.

Now I have to get hubby in the vacation mode. We leave in 19 days and we still need to de-winterrize the RV.
