Everyone who has every had any experience w/ this please help w/ my decision.
Is Pal Mickey worth it? I have two boys-9 and 5 and a girl 2.

Where can you buy him? Can I wait till we get to our resort so we can use him the following day right away?

What does he do when you are home away from the parks?

Thanks for your help! We are getting close, single digit dance!

You can rent him and then buy him or buy him at MK. I know they have him DTD and in some resort stores. We rented him at MK and gave him back. We didn't like the fact that we had to carry him. We don't like to carry anything in the parks. :)

I've read that he's no longer available for rent but I'm guessing he can be found for purchase at many stores in the parks.

We were at WDW in August and my DD7 loved her Pal Mickey. We switched the clip he comes with and used one that was more secure so we didn't lose him. She wore him on her fanny pack the entire time. She still talks about how much Mickey talked especially at AK. She was a bit spooked in the Haunted Mansion but Mickey told her he was scared too so that made her feel better. Family friends went in November and we let them borrow Pal Mickey and they all loved him too.
He is pricey but we had read all about him on these boards so my daughter saved up and paid for 1/2. He sits on her bed these days waiting to go back! He is a great little souvenir even if his jokes are corny!
I say go for it, he's fun and not that heavy to carry around. At least he is functional not just another stuffed toy. ;)

Sorry I forget to mention we stayed at the POP and bought him in the gift shop. He is suppose to activiate when you go through the gates at the parks but we forgot to turn him on the next day so we just stopped in at a Main Street shop and they activated him for us (they download info into him) and he was fine for the rest of the trip. Just make sure you have him turned on when you enter each park.
Now we are home he tells his corny jokes.

Hi  What exactly is a Pal Mickey :confused3 . I am from Ontario, Canada. If the price is right, would my 12 and 16 year old daughters enjoy them? ANYONE HAVE A PICTURE :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

We purchased our on Main Street but the store in the Animal Kingdom Lodge had them as well. I'd bet most (if not all) of the resorts sell them.

I bought 2 for my DD's ages 9 and 5. The Pal mickeys spent more time in the hotel then in the parks.

I thought for sure they would use them so I bought them early.

I think Mickey made it to the parks 1 time.

On the theme park board there is a thread about a new PM coming out in May or so to celebrate 50 yrs??? You might want to wait to buy him. I dont know how he will differ from the old one. I have an old one and left it home during our last trip. It was a hassle for me to lug him around all day, along with a camera, video camera, and other gear. A lot of the time I had a hard time hearing him and would have to hold him up to my ear. Hes cute though! Maybe if my son were older he would have more fun with it.

My daughter absolutley loved Pal Mickey when we went last spring and still takes him to bed each night. He gave great pointers and triva.we had no problem with the clip and she was never with out him.I'm going with the marching band in April and plan to take him with me for the tips he gives such as " hey there's no lone at space mountain ect."

When you have two children, what would be your strategy? "Mickey's Mom's and don't you forget it. I'll let Giggles hold it for the morning, and Blondey can have it in the afternoon..." That's my first thought.

I didnt notice your post earlier and I posted the SAME questions about Pal Mickey...I have read that he comes to $60 (that includes tax)

i have heard you can buy him at the parks and at some resorts

my biggest concern is does he talk when you leave Disney ? Glad he tell jokes and isnt silent. i am definately going to buy one for my 7 yr old...
thanks for everyones input

For everyone reading this thread and trying to figure out what "Pal Mickey" is, here's the webpage that tells all about him.

(Don't tell anyone, but my 18 year old is looking forward to any and all help that Pal Mickey can give us with hints about the area we happen to be in.)

We'll get whatever the latest version is when we get there in late June. ::MickeyMo

Yes, I loved Pal Mickey. We were in WDW last Feb. We got him on our first day so we could use him all week. My children 7,5, and 3 found him to be entertaining. He would play simple games with them, which was great when we needed to kill time in lines or while waiting for dinner. plus he was very informative for us. I don't know how they do it but, he always knew where we were in the park. Would tell us which lines were shorter when we approached a ride, reminded us of the parades and fireworks and told :cool1: us we should start looking for a good place to view them. Every night when you leave the park he'll wish you good-night. It is cheaper in the long run to just buy him instead of renting. My kids still play some of the games he offers once your out of the parks. We are going back this April and can't wait to activate him again! oh,yeah he has a clip so you can just clip him to you and not worry about carrying him all day. I think you'll love him.
