Okay-I am sure this has been discussed before, but I am not finding anything. My 2 boys and niece will all be four when we go in Nov. Is Pal Mickey worth it for them, or more of a distraction for 4 year olds? How about autograph books. Are they too little to get it/care?? They love Disney characters etc....

Thanks to all of you expert posters :wave2:

Pal Mickey is OK, but really the only time they had to play with it was on the bus ride or back at the room.

Definitely get autograph books and pressed penny books for all the kids! My boys are ages 4 and 6 and have been collecting autographs and pennies for a couple of years now. :thumbsup2

I find that autograph books are great. I still have mine from when I was a kid. Just be prepared to wait in line to get them. I have seen many people with pal mickey dolls. Don't have one so can't really comment although they do seem helpful with park info and stuff.

I agree that the autograph books are a great idea! My sons loved them when they were 3 and 5. Now they are 5 and 8 and they want autograph books for our trip in May. :thumbsup2

You can bring a book from home or buy the books just about everywhere in WDW. The books are great for breaking the ice with the characters. We have lots of pictures of the characters doing funny things with the autograph books. :teeth:

A previous poster mentioned waiting in line - the lines to see the characters can be long at times, but not always. If you kids are going to get pictures taken with the characters then you'll have to wait in line anyway. :wizard:

We don't have Pal Mickey, so I can't give you advice about that.

Here is a link to a site that has information on pressed pennies. They have a list you can download of all the locations of the machines in WDW.

I don't think Pal Mickey would really hold the interest of 4 year olds for very long. I think it would end up being something that the parents would end up carrying in the parks. I love my Pal Mickey and took him into all the parks with me while we were there. My DH, DD20 and DD17 really weren't that interested. When he had something to say, I'd move him up to my ear.

I also just read a post somewhere on here that a young boy had it fall off the clip coming out of a show and they never got it back even after checking with Lost & Found. What a horrible thing for those other people to do - keeping someone elses Pal Mickey!!! At $65, I'd be concerned about a 4 year old just accidentally leaving it somewhere and some not-so-Disney people keeping it as their own.

I will definitely get autograph books while we are there. I had never heard of pressed penny books. I like pressed pennies as souveniers. I "might" get one of those. I am still debating a Pal Mickey. I was thinking it might be a fun distraction for the kids while we are waiting in line.

Pal Mickey is a wonderful distraction for the kids. I played several games with him while waiting in line. When I was on the bus, children would see me playing with him and ask about him. I'd let them play with him for a little while. They did really enjoy him. In no way, would I want to talk someone out of getting him. I'm even enjoying him at home. I bought him a stand so that he can stand and watch me work in my office. When I get blue for Disney, I press his hand to hear one of his silly sayings. I just want parents to be aware that they will need to be the ones carrying him and watching he doesn't get laid down.

I didn't buy the pressed penny book but I am collecting the pressed pennies. In hindsight, I should have purchased the book. It would have been easier to keep track of what I have and what I want. I enjoyed looking for machines wherever we went to see if they had pennies I wanted. Instead of getting every penny I found, I'm working on certain sets to start. Before we left, I made sure I had lots of pennies & quarters for the machines. It is a very inexpensive souvenir.
