This trip was the first time we tried to find a paintbrush. We were probably on the third or fourth raft over, we rode Pirates first. We did not find one...saw a little girl who did.

Does anyone know how many brushes they hide? Any hints on the types of locations they hide them in? (I would assume they put them in places that kids can find them.) How long does it take before they are all gone?

They are usually found by the people on the first raft over. I think 3 are hidden. Don't look to hard for them they are very obvious.

We found it for the first time this summer - we were the first raft over. THey were pretty easy to find. In fact after we found ours I saw two more. That will be our last trip to find the paintbrush however. As we were leaving dd saw a snake in the bushes and now I break out into a sweat thinking when I reached in to get the paintbrush what else I might have touched!

Tried looking for a paintbrush on this trip, we were one of the first rafts over if not the first and we saw several people walking with them, but no such luck for us. Considering I had just ridden SM with no wait before we went over there it wasn't that disappointing ;)

There has to be more than 3. We went in sept. and there was 1 brush on the raft that picked us up and there was 2 on our raft going back. My wife found 1 and gave it to my daughter. We just kept the certificate since the park is so slow in sept. anyway.

My mom found one on our vacation in July. When she turned it in they gave her a certificate that said she could get in the fastpass line for either Splash Mountain or Big Thunder. But seh also wanted to keep the paper. So she asks at the fastpass entrance at SM if she can ride the ride and still keep the paper and they said no. Then she went to City Hall and asked why they wouldn't let her keep the paper and have them write VOID on it and still let her ride. They first told her that they had no idea what she was talking about and then told her he couldn't do anything to help her. But one of the girls at SM told her that some people would mark it and let you ride while others wouldn't. My mom got the one who wouldn't and ran into a completely unhelpful cast member at City Hall.

Just don't pick them all up. We went over on the first raft once and one family had gotten 4 of them...Nice eh???

So, I assume the fastpass certificate is good for everyone in your party. Is that right?

They used to only give you one certificate per family, so if you showed up with four paintbrushes, you still got just one pass. Hopefully they re-hid the other brushes...

Yes the one fast pass was good for everyone in your party. I can't believe people would pick up all four. I saw at least two more after we found ours and didn't even think of touching them.

but help-I have no idea what you are talking about-please take
pitty and explain :confused3

When you take the raft over to Tom Sawyer's Island, you're told that Tom & Huck hid some paintbrushes instead of painting for Aunt Polly that day. If you find a paintbrush, you take it to the CM on the raft & they give you a ride pass (I've read various reports on this part - usually it's for either SM or BTMR, but ours 2 weeks ago was for any MK ride).

I think the first raft is around 9:30

Last May DW & I went over to Tom Sawyer's Island around noon and saw a paint brush just sitting on a bench near the Old Mill.

The pass is good for the entire party. When we turned our paintbrush in, the other winner had 17 in their party.

what a great disney secret, i never knew about this one. This will give me a reason to drage DFi back to Tom Sawyer Island (he hates it).

That's pretty darn greedy isn't it?

i am sure you dont need to be on the first raft over to find the paintbrushes. we went over to tom sawyers island one afternoon and after exploring it totally we decided a snack at aunt polly's was in order. well i sat down in one of the chairs and looked up and there in the rafters was a paintbrush. i pointed it out to me son and told him to get it and we returned it to a cm and recieved the fastpass for our group. i guess that the must hide them throughout the entire day or i would not have ben lucky to find one.

:rotfl: :rotfl: Last month I saw one on the ground behind a rocking chair. I had not idea this was "hidden". It just looked like it had been left - or that someone had moved it from where it should have been. No one on the raft said anything about finding them. I almost picked it up, but we were heading out soon, so I didn't bother. It's amazing how you can always learn something new after SO many trips!
