Paint the Night to MK?

I think the exchange part of the deal is a limited large corporation way of looking at things. I would think collectively all the properties together could come up with a way to shift things like parades between parks so there is always something new for that property going on. The every year visitor isn't going to need a parade to come every year. the twice a decade customer might come more often if something they haven't seen changes though and it'll still give a chance for everyones favorite...

Now I don't think disney is smart enough to make something like this happening, but 5-6 parades that rotated every so often I would really love. and it's not just because I live near one of the parks but in general I like when disney has change and new things to experience. Parades just seem like that 1 thing that would be easier to make available to people who may never get to other properties to experience. The parks are different enough for that draw and to be honest, put one of the asian parades in WDW for a year or two and you might pull me over to asia to see those parks time to time. Right now there just isnt' enough draw for me to rush over there and I may never do it.
I'd love to see travelling parades. They really need 4-6 parades, and rotate them between resorts every 3-5 years. That'd sure get me coming back even more regularly than I do now, and would probably get me exploring the other Disney parks too.

You would think DLR would use a night time parade at DCA instead of DL just to spread out the crowds and get some of those people who only go to Disneyland. Same thing could be said about MK... DHS would be the logical choice for a night time parade, with it's limited offerings until SWE opens.

When they do the Pixar Play Parade twice daily, the second run is at night. This is usually just a summer thing. It might be hard to justify the expense of running a DCA parade twice daily otherwise since WOC shows nightly.

Yea but does that Pixar Parade bring people to the park? I think MSEP or PTN would.

If boxed and if leaving and if not modified, my guess would be Shanghai.

After seeing the sea of humanity, the lack of proactive organization, the typical RUDE guest behavior and a hub full of people WAY long before dark ......... I don't see how it would be possible to run a night parade in MK unless there were some hefty night hours to spread it out.

Well I'd be all for PTN at DCA. And it would surely spread crowds out. Seems like an awfully expensive way for them to do that, though you can for sure make the case that it's necessary.

It's impossible for me to believe that after DL refused to send MK their parade, they'd turn around and ship it off to China.

There are powers that be that are higher than any individual park management ........ while DL supposedly pitched a hissy fit let's note they still have MSEP and not PTN rolling down their streets. And I do think part of the issue was the problems with the costuming that would be even worse in FL and the possible issue with float sizes that were not considered.

In the end Disney will do what is best for Disney! That means the parade will roll wherever it works into their plan.

I think what works in their plan right now is milking the MSEP cash cow to death before resuming PTN.

One of the comments on that same article seem to indicate that PTN is headed to DCA and not WDW.

I work the parade it’s not leaving California it’s moving to Dca sometime next summer they have been testing the floats on Dca for sometime now they are going to move the floats over to Dca since that’s where MSEP were stored last it was at DCa In the early 2000s. Florida execs didn’t like that paint was so big and technical for theirs resort.

Didn't they want to refurb the floats on it also? it might just be heading out to get fixed up and end up somewhere else. Would they really pack up the parade like they are shipping it just to move it over to dca?

Yes I believe it already has gotten its refurb.

The same way they always have? *shrugs* You clear the parade route and don't let people stand there after a certain time. I always liked this because it kept people from camping for a fireworks spot. You could just wait for the parade to be over, and walk up to the spot you wanted on Main Street. To me, it seems more chaotic without a parade.

This has been fascinating to follow. Insiders seem to be on both sides of this one and are convinced the other side is wrong/misinformed.

Lets say that Paint the Night does actually return to Disneyland later this year. What then does Disney do with the MSEP? I'm not convinced it will be fully retired or put into storage. Its not in the greatest shape being an old parade, but it seems to still be running multiple times a night just fine.

I think (and this is the opinion of a bystander, not an insider) whichever parade is not running at Disneyland this winter gets shipped east. The question is which one.

I have no doubt that if PTN does indeed return to DLR later this year, MSEP will be permanently retired. The parade is certainly on its last legs and is beyond repair. The technology used is very outdated now (non-LED), so requires a lot of maintenance.

It would surprise me if WDW doesn't get some sort of temporary parade (be it PTN or something else) later this year.

I can genuinely see MSEP being extended indefinitely (or at least for the next 4-5 years) at DLR and WDW getting PTN until the 50th anniversary, when WDW may get its own new parade.

While interesting I don't understand why this would have anything to do with a nighttime parade. Disney used to run a 3PM parade, fireworks, and night parade altogether for years.
I thought that, everything used to run just fine with 3pm parade + fireworks + MSEP/Spectro. It seems weird Disney is making this change though, don't think they'd do it just for the sake of it? Can you think of any other reason they may be making this change?

Not at the moment.
