Just wondering…you’re paid in full, several rooms booked and paid in full, upon check-in you find out someone in your travel party IS NOT coming. Too late for add-on people, what happens??? Room is not in non show up person name. I understand that you have to still tip like they are there. What about the other stuff? Again, you’re paid in full for this cruise, just someone not showing up and didn’t say anything. Room is just short a person.
Keep in mind that if a person has symptoms of Covid, tests positive for Covid, or even just has a close contact with someone who has Covid within 14 days of sailing, they are to call Disney to cancel and will be refunded everything, no questions asked, no documentation required. You didn't say why the person isn't coming, but I wanted to make sure you were aware of this policy.
The base cruise fare is the same for 1 person or 2, but port fees, for example, are always per person. I know from experience that the same cruise is slightly less expensive for 1 than for 2 due to fewer taxes and fees. I doubt
DCL would refund those to you for a non-Covid cancellation, though, due to you being fully in the penalty phase.
Tips are based on how many passengers are actually sailing, so you shouldn't pay any tips for guests who have never been onboard that cruise. Check your folio onboard, and if you notice that the automatic tip includes the missing guest, go to Guest Services and have them take off that part of the charge. Tips are legally (not morally) optional, so you will be totally within your rights to adjust downward the amount you're tipping, to avoid tipping for an absent guest, and it won't be difficult at all. It is more likely that they won't automatically charge you for tips for that guest, though. If they do, it would be an oversight due to the last-minute cancellation.
