Paid FP options coming soon to WDW?

Any theories why Disney WOULDN'T bring FP+ back in the interim if Genie+ isn't working well right now? I guess thats what confuses me- what does it benefit them to not bring it back ya know? Maybe others have better insight!

As for Genie/wishes- I think it sounds kind of awful. A max of 3 purchased all day? That sucks, especially if we have ro stick to a pack. My kids are vastly different heights at almost 2 and almost 4. Maybe packs will be an option for a set $ and a custom pack will be more $. Like $30 for a pack or $40 pick your own YKWIM?

The only reason I could come up with theoretically would if Genie/Wishes is close enough that they can justify waiting a bit longer and dealing with the temporary downgraded guest experience for the summer crowds, chalking it up to “difficulties returning from Covid” with anticipated future returns on investment.

I would imagine also that they wouldn’t want to announce FP+ now and then announce another major change (launch of Genie) in a matter of a few weeks or months right after that either, for a bunch of reasons. So they would have to be ok with a longer then anticipated release of Genie (when it sounds like they wanted this ready sooner).

If you had something almost equivalent for free and then suddenly it was no longer free, people would be much more disgruntled than if you haven't had it for over a year and are now begging for something back to manage the crowds. Get the desperation for an option to wash over the downsides.

They have us weaned off the old system and want to keep it that way.

So I guess they would introduce the wishes program minus the character meet and greets, so it's just a bloated FP system right now? I couldn't imagine they would be messing with Firework crowds right now after seeing the amount of people there last night.

Parks are approaching pre-pandemic crowds, but there is still a lot less (shows, shopping, etc) to do. WDW “needs” lines to have a place to put people. My guess is that they are waiting to bring FP back online until more things reopen.

The genie three wishes rumour is very interesting. I'd potentially use a wish for a rare character meet or fireworks spot at MK.

I wouldn’t waste a second worrying about the hypothetical specifics of a rumored system that may or may not have any basis in reality. It wasn’t so long ago that I was informed on this website that “people who know things” were saying that MMRR would open with a boarding group system.

If Disney is going to go with past fast passes or wishes, I wish they would just hurry up and announce it.
I hate the waiting around for more info. We are traveling in Nov. and I want to know what days these late EMH for deluxe guest are so I can rearrange my park reservations. I want to know if there will be an Xmas party the day I’m supposed to be in MK. I want to know if there will be fast passes.
Im not looking forward to when Disney announces all of this last minute and there is a mad rush to book fast passes, party tickets,etc.

I'm in holiday and I want some simplicity and no stress if possible. It also sounds like you could have your face in your phone for a fair bit trying to sort things out. I hope this is a pre plan sort of thing rather on the day worrying about trying to get this, that or the other.

Hopefully it isn't. I remember doing fourth year quantum chemistry and thinking this is kinda hard. But at the end of the day I did complete that course in a shorter amount of time than it took to understand FP+....

I know nothing. However, another poster on another thread suggested the FP+ system was utilized in setting up other systems. Like the park reservation system. So, could it be they haven't reinstated the old FP+ system for that type of reasoning? Like it's core has been gutted, repurposed, etc into the genie, or park reservation system - so it isn't technically there to just flip back on? To bring back the FP+ they would have to remove progress they have made to updating to the new system?

Yea that may have been an issue at one point but I think it’s taken a few evolutions from there. Someone in the know (or at least seems to be) has said that FP+ has passed all testing in its original form. So if that’s accurate, it seems Disney has a working option and that it’s coming down to whether or not they can get this new system up and running in quick enough time, as it hasn’t passed testing. But I’m also not someone who’s in the know, just repeating what I’ve been reading.

If that’s the case I might wind up liking this. I get that people who usually stay value/moderate might not like this but deluxe resort guests wind up getting some wishes included, then for me personally, it seems like a bit of an improvement.
