Paid FP options coming soon to WDW?

I don't think it would be something you buy for all the days of your trip. If it's the 100-300$ price point. It would be like pick 2 parks and get it for 2 days. I would buy it for HS and MK than do standby at the other parks.

For our bi-yearly trips the middle price point of $200 per person (4) for MK and HS would basically add 20% to our cost. I am sure those two days would be great if the weather cooperates. Our other typical 6 days in the park would be less enjoyable than usual. It would mean a less enjoyable trip overall at greater cost. We would likely just cut our trip in half, not stay onsite anymore and go less often.

I really hope they don't do that. We can't afford it. If it's $100 per person per day we could MAYBE do it for 2 days (1 at MK and 1 at HS), but that is the absolute most I would spend. We have 4 people. I'd probably downgrade our hotel to all stars to accommodate this. I'm really hoping that this lightning pass won't feel necessary. I would really like the fast pass plus system to return.

Even that is $800 for a family of 4. Which is insane.
But it's an options. It's cheaper than what six flags offers and six flags system is legit trash lol. That's why you would choose one or 2 days and make it special, if it's this price. And if it's to much money don't do it kinda like how most of us won't pay for a vip tour and such. People also say the same about the party's they are the same price and people buy for a whole family.

We did the Xmas party and it was so packed it wasn't worth it to do rides. I would take the party money and use it on a park fast pass in a heart beat.

And if it's to much money don't do it

Yeah. It's pretty easy to say that online, isn't it? Now, say it like it's no big deal to the families that count on FP+ as a major part of their touring strategy who can't afford to pay this. "Oh yeah, this perk that was free, that is what allowed you to have a good vacation is gone." Can't afford it? Oh well, just don't do it. Who cares that the value and enjoyment of your trip just dropped significantly.

The reality is, Disboards isn't the average Disney guest - while many here may have hated FP+, and for many here, it really is not a big deal to just pay the extra, the majority in the real world actually really enjoyed FP+, many RELIED on it, and can't afford it. And it's the callous attitude of others who are clueless to that, that really rubs that salt in the wound.

You don't go to six flags for 2 weeks

Your remark makes zero sense since I was talking about using the payed option for 1 or 2 days. You also don't spend as much time at six flags in one day and yet it costs more. Many people take weekend trips and visit let's say six flags great adventure for 2 days outta the trip.

I do hope for free version but with less passes even using fast passes back in 2019 the lines were 20-30 min for buzz and other non top tier rides. So if they split the availability to half free half payed and 100% limit it to 3 a day no more 4th + ( which was the best and I will miss it if it never comes back) for free versions but payed can do unlimited. This would give value to going multiple days per park for free fp guests.

I’m hopping if they do it it’ll be that if you stay on property you still get your three FPS at least, and have the option to purchase the lightening pass if you want more. We are a family of 7, this would get very expensive very quick. More and more WDW seems to be changing into a playground for the rich. Walt had the exact opposite intentions. It’s sad.

This is something I've heard said frequently about this option and agree totally-I would have to shorten my stay and get it for maybe two parks out of the four-(take my chances in AK and Epcot!), SO it almost seems like that would defeat the purpose of more money in Disney's pocket-people staying for shorter times, staying off-site, go less often. I sure hope this rumor turns out t o be false. Maybe Disney floated it out to see the reaction?

See, this is the thing. Experience varies person to person. We went in 2019, and never waited 20-30 minutes for any ride with FP+. It was about 10-15 minutes, however, that was mid-May and it was relatively lower crowds. When we went in 2015 in June/July, we waited 15-20 minutes for our rides with FP+... I think our longest was TSMM and that was almost 30 minutes, but it was because they had to stop the line a few times to load a couple special wheelchair guests, which honestly... it just makes me happy to see them being so accommodating and making those dreams a reality. I'll gladly stand in line for 15-20 minutes with FP+, when the standby is 90-120 minutes!

I was really anticipating no more free FP+ for off-site guests, keeping 2-3 FP+ for onsite guests, and then yes, a paid option like the Lightning Pass for those who want/can afford it.

They feel emboldened by the recent past, they know they can get away with any money grab. People will complain but will just continue to pay what they tell them to. I’m guilty of this too. People are there spending A LOT of money for a reduced experience right now. But the costs aren’t reduced. I understand they’re a business but the guest experience shouldn’t suffer.

This is aweful! If disney is hurting so much for money then their executives should show true leadership by taking a 20%paycut across the board before they impact the customers.
It would just be disney following the trend all other parks are using.

They're not hurting for money. That's the problem here. There's still able to do whatever it is they want to do and they know people are still going to show up at the parks. I think what's going to damage them and make them realize that doing this is a mistake because they're going to get less and less repeat customers. They get a lot of their business from people who go back to Disney World again and again. Doing things like this does nothing more than tick people off and make them want to spend their vacation dollars elsewhere. Am I saying that's going to be the end of Disney? No. Of course not. But their revenue dollars are going to shrink if they go through with this paid fastpass option. People can disagree with me if they want but when you start nickel and diming people and messing with their wallets you start turning them away from your business. If they truly make this fastpass option a 100% paid version then this will absolutely be the last time we ever go to disney. I'm not the only one who feels that way either. Everyone I know that goes to Disney has already said that if they make people pay for fast passes then that will be the straw that broke the camel's back for them and they're never going back. Disney makes you pay for parking at the resorts. Disney's now charging for magic bands. They keep raising their prices for the tickets twice a year. If they start charging for fast passes then that's going to be just about it for a lot of people.

I get your point BUT in some ways you have it reversed. Members of Disney fan sites no the tricks. Play games with your resort reservations. When to reserve. What attractions. Timing. Refresh. Throw away FPs.

The majority in the real world don't know or use those tricks.

A system which benefits guests willing to pay instead of fans who know how to work the system benefits Disney.

My remark makes a great deal of sense because people will shorten their trips to Disney if they have to pay tjese crazy costs people are speculating about meaning lessnin ticket sales, less in dining, less in room sales, less merch sales
