PaHunters camping season comes to an abrupt close due to cancer.

Sounds like some progress on the medical front. Sucks to hear the home front can't just stay quiet and comfortable.

If you transplant in September, does that mean a long hospital stay or undetermined?

Transplant regardless of when means about a 6 week hospital stay is what they are telling me initially. If nothing goes wrong and my body recovers quickly, then it could be as short as 4 weeks. If something were to go wrong, it could be longer. So I have my Lego Space Shuttle to build, and may even have the Millenium Falcon to build, DW is working on that.....

So yesterday (wasn't that a Beatles song?) was a day at the hospital, I had 3 appointments that turned in to 4. But on a nice and super rainy day, what better to do than run around the hospital. Had blood drawn twice, they forgot to draw tubes for testing the first time. And I had the ultrasound done on my heart, (yes apparently I have one). The results were good on everything they have taken me off chemo to recover some before the transplant. Met with the Dr and my Coordinator. I will be headed in to the hospital between the 15-17 th of this month and will have the transplant done on the 24th. I will then remain in the hospital until my blood counts are high enough for me to be released. I will then travel back and forth like we have been doing daily, every other day, then twice a week, until my numbers get better, then monthly monitoring. So again, have a long way to go, will be on chemo even after the transplant for an additional two years. So as I said before, it is a marathon, not a sprint. But hopefully it will allow me a great number of years yet to live.

You have a plan.

I suspect they have had the conversation about a "normal" course. Two or three steps forward, one step back. If there isn't a setback, it's a bonus.

Oh, and there's no such thing as "normal".

Hang in there. Stay occupied. You have a bunch of our numbers. Ring us up when you're bored or having a rough day. Who else can distract you with DIS stuff better than us?

Keep chopping the wood.

My neurologist, who was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer 2 years ago asks about you regularly and sends his prayers as well.

I assume, while you are in hospital, if we want to have something sent to you can Jenn deliver it? Things to occupy you. Puzzles, books, etc?

As Jim said, you got numbers. Use them. I'm always game for conversation.

Indeed as the others said, you have our numbers. The offer to drive up to lend a hand still stands. Want to bring back the Saturday morning Zoom session (I kind of enjoyed that over the winter), let's do it.

It is a marathon, though I am hoping that after this initial part it will be less over the next few years and allow you to enjoy the sweeter things in life.

The wife will be over to the hospital on probably a daily basis, I know there are a couple days she has some work she has to attend to. She will miss me, and the hospital just opened up overnight stays again, but the dog of course needs her also to come home.

We have finalized the new schedule. I will be admitted the 17th, with my Transplant occurring on the 24th.

This weekend is getting the motorhome fueled and run the generator for exercise. Next weekend on Saturday is my winterization day, see if I can get the pink stuff thru the system. Little bit different than my fifth wheel was.

Yes once the initial part is over and by next spring should be able to do some things as I start to feel better.

Im not going to wish you luck, as you are going to kick this things butt and dont need it. Stay strong!

Its good to hear the plan and all is moving along. Teresa and I send good thoughts and prayers, :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2

Chris, you are in my prayers! So glad things are going smoothly & the transplant will be a piece of cake. Keep that positive attitude.

Good plan. BTW. I was going through some RV stuff I pulled out of the last camper. I am not sure if your bus has it, but I have one of the trickle chargers that will detect when your inverter is charging the house batteries and put a float charge on the coach batteries. I ordered one back when I had the bus and they sent me two and never answered when I asked about returning one. If that was something you could use I would gladly part with it.

That would be nice. Chargers are always good. In fact I think I need to buy another one for my lawn tractor for this winter.

Sure thing! I liked it because it was a hard wired setup. If I was plugged in, my coach batteries got a charge...I liked that.

I have two quick connect ones on the zero turn and the snow mower. Keeps then starting every time.

Today was another trip to the hospital for Bone Marrow Biopsy. The PA doing the work was up on the floor when I was admitted last time, so I knew her. She did a nice job today, just could not get thru the bone to get fluid out. So they drew blood to find out what they needed instead. Now off until Thursday when I go to have contour bags made for my radiation treatment. Friday it is then back for my admission.
Disney Sister got her clearance to donate today, so her process starts Sunday with a shot, then her donation on Thursday which will be frozen for me on the 24th.

Well I ended up forgetting to put stabil in the motorcycle before we filled it. So had to put it in and then well since we needed to shake up the fuel and get it through the engine, might as well make an ice cream run. So it is now up for the winter.
