PaHunters camping season comes to an abrupt close due to cancer.

We will be thinking of you as this starts. Text, call, whatever when you need to talk to more then the walls.

So in a little bit we will be headed to the hospital. Today is making the pillow mold for my radiation treatment next Friday. They then moved my bloodwork from tomorrow forward to today. Well time for breakfast and then the trip to Hershey.

So today is moving day for me. I have a Dr appt for a clinical trial before I meet with my Transplant Dr. Once I meet with him, it will be late enough, my room should be ready. I have all the necessities packed, Lego's, Pickles, Pistachio's, and my Michigan Way street sign for the door. I also have a bunch of 8x10 photo's and poster tack to brighten up the room. Well, I will keep doing updates, either daily or every other day.
Thank you to all of my Dis Family for the thoughts and prayers.

It is Sunday morning and waiting on breakfast, still have an hour to go.

Friday did not go as well as I planned. We got to the Dr, he checked me over said was good to go, coordinator said 3 patients had come in from the ER and they were shuffling people to get me a room. So DW and I headed off to get dinner, the hospital would call when the room was ready. That call came a little later telling us 5pm we would be good. So up to the floor we came, wrong section of the floor. I will have to move before the end of the week, but not sure when. The nurse came in asked if I needed anything, then gave me the covid test. It was about 9pm when they finally came in to draw blood. Then had an EKG, and a bunch of other admission related things. Got to bed about midnight.

Time to get up....wait a second it is only 4am, ugh. Up for blood pressure checks, and weight. Later in the day I got my first chemo, a 4 hour break and then my 2nd round of chemo. Spent the day visiting with DW and watching football. Last night fell asleep during the Penn State game. Nurses gave me a break and did not wake me this morning until 6am. Took my first morning walk, and came back to type up my update.

Most of the nurses and aides, remember me from my previous stays, so they are good to me. Once I get moved to my room, I will be able to unpack the lego's and start on my space shuttle.

We think that covers my exciting life the last two days. Only 40 mins left to breakfast now.

I fell asleep during the Penn state game too. I hope you got breakfast by now. Say hi to DW. Bert is looking forward to lego pics.

Penn State? As in college football?

I watched the whole Cardinals baseball game. Great come from behind in the 8th. We now have a strong 2 game lead in the wild card. I did look up the Cubs since we were neck and neck earlier in the year. They are only 12.5 behind us, so they have lived up to their nickname.

Chris,

Thanks for the update. Hospital beds are tight everywhere right now. Glad they got you in. I can't wait for pics of the Lego build.

for a triple A line up, Cubs aren't too bad

Beds are very tight, here it is 100 percent with the lowest being 97 percent in the last year.

Specialized oncology units are too few and far between, thus the tight bed situation.

I was working the ER yesterday and last night, I missed all the football games but likely best for my blood pressure.

Maybe they'll get you settled in Chris, I'm looking forward to following the progress of this shuttle.

So Sunday was 2 chemo treatments, Monday we stepped down to 1 and that continues until Wednesday. Thursday I am lined up for radiation treatment, and Friday is finally my transplant. One chemo treatment a day is not bad, but only takes up about 40 mins of my 24 hours here. So have been walking, exercising, and started my lego project today. This comprised about 7 hours worth of work, and was completion of bags 1 thru 4.

Bags 1-3 consisted of building the Hubble telescope that was launched by the Shuttle. It does fit in the cargo bay once the shuttle is done.

Bag 4 was the stand for the Shuttle, and the Information plate.
Bags 5 thru 8 will build the base of the Shuttle. May start that tomorrow, see how I feel. Fighting off and on being wiped out, then feeling good. Trying to take it easy for the most part. Over the next 10 days my numbers will continue to drop and I will be tired for awhile. After that they should start to rebound and I should start feeling better (relatively). It will take me many months to feel good again.

Here is going to be the toughest part of your marathon I think. Chin up and take it day by day as you said. I really hope while it may take time to feel 'good' again that through the process you can at least feel comfortable even if you feel wiped out.

Great work on the lego front, that should keep you busy for a while?

Yes this is the really tough stretch coming up as my system reboots. This morning have done two shorter walks, as I woke feeling wore down.

On the lego front, I am on page 70 which starts bag 5, it ends on page 310, with bag 17. So just a little ways to go.

So the building continued today. Bags 5 , 6, and 7 have been completed.

5 started the back frame, and landing gear.

Bag 6 added the front frame of the Shuttle

Bag 7 was the addition of the leading edge heat shields, and reinforcing the frame.

About 5.5 hours of build time in it today. I have completed 135 pages so far in the build book.
