As its starting to get closer to D-Day (well, 11.5 weeks, but close enough!), I am starting to think about packing.

I have only ever done package holidays before (Greece, Spain etc) so I am a bit unsure - will I need to pack towels for the pool or for the water parks? :confused3 Think I read somewhere that we can use the towels from our room by the pool, but will they be big enough or just a little bath towel? What about the water parks - will I need them there?

Sorry, but I know the stupid questions are going to start kicking in now, I'm starting to get really excited. :Pinkbounc

if you are staying onsite you can take the room towels with you to WP.If round pool you can take them from the carts or you can ask front desk.We have mickey and minnie beach towels which have never seen the light of day at disney

The towels at the rooms in WDW I have stayed in have not been that big, so I prefer to take my own :)

But yes you can certainly take towels from the hotel room to the pool, lots of people do it :thumbsup2

ETA - Paul says above you can but I wasn't sure if you were supposed to, so take his word for it! Re towels to the water parks. You can hire towels at the WPs (for guessing here $1???) but again I find them very small and prefer to take my own.

We like to take our own for the WPs as they are much bigger, thicker and softer, plus you can spot your lounger easier

Claire ;)

I personally wouldn't take any, if you aren't staying on site they are so cheap in Walmart etc and good quality to . all depends how much space you have in your cases.

Am trying to keep the packing down, but I suppose one towel each wont be too bad, and as Claire said it will make it easier to spot the sunbeds.

Still, thanks for the advice. It's good to know that if my cases are getting a little full I can leavethe towels and use hotel ones or even hire.

Thanks again. :goodvibes

I normally take one very light (ie 'cheap' ;) ) beach towel each - just so's we have them

Saying that, I have rarely had occasion to use them.

Whether we're staying on or offsite clean towels always seem to be around the pool and I've seen them at the water parks but don't know where to pick them up - this is usually the one occasion we use our own :sunny:

We took a cheap "old" beach towel each. We didn't need to use them at the hotel because plenty were provided around the pool but we did take them to the water parks. We worked on the prinicipal that we would chuck them if there wasn't room to bring them home....but there was so guess they'll go out again with us next year! :rotfl:

Agreed! They take up too much room for the things that you really want to buy.

we take ours with us, i tend to use mine when i get out of the shower lol to wrap round me while i do my hair etc

If you have room in your suitcases I would take your own, they are useful for using around the parks too.
You can buy them out there , which is what we will do in August , somewhere like the Ralph Lauren store at Premium Outlets. Just make sure they are decent quality and avoid the cheap and nasty one's, like the character one's they sell at the parks - unless you want to look like you have had your face painted!

If you visit say Universal IOA and go on the water rides - like me and Josh do with Popeye's Barges several times  - then it is advisable to have a towel with you.

We are just back from WDW. Stayed at Port Orleans Riverside.

Put a dollar on the table for the ladies of housekeeping and a note how many extra towells you need for the pool.

Works every day. You can leave them at the pool. There is a great binn were you just trow them in at the evening.

hi
always take two extra large camping towels, they fold up to fit in an envelope. they dry in 10 mins are invaluable for all occasons!

The camping towels are great for the water rides!

At the pools there is always a big stash of pool towels, we use 2!

We bought some lovely beach towels at Animal Kingdom, they're one of our favourite souveniers. Good quality too.

We take smallish, thin ones to use as a last resort and make use of the towels as others have posted

If I were to buy cheap ones in say WalMart, how much would they cost? Are they cheap enough to justify leaving them behind if my cases get TOOfull of shopping? :teeth:

Although, in reply to Johnny's post, it is tempting to buy a cheap character towel for DH. Wonder how long it would take him to notice his skin had changed colour?! ;)

About 5 minutes!
If you a buy a cheap character one don't get it wet :)

:thumbsup2 Last year we took a couple of our own with us, bath towels (NOT bath sheets) here are slightly larger than US but mainly used the hotel ones by the pool where there were collection tubs to put the wet ones back for the laundy staff to take every couple of hours, there were always more available from housekeeping no problem. That said we had 2 large suitcases between 3 of us so space was not limited for us. :thumbsup2

Just wanted to add the problem with towels isn't size, room in cases etc - it's getting them dry. If you are in a hotel having them drapped about the room is a real pain and when we've had a balcony they've got rained on/been blown away
