I have several 'cans' of mineral makeup that I wanted to bring down with me- Can I put them in my carry on? They cost me an arm and a leg so I couldnt imagine packing them in my luggage to be broken or spilled. Can I carry powder onto the plane? I think its larger than 3 oz.

So long as the makeup isn't liquid (I assume you are talking about the mineral makeup powder?), you can carry it on. I recently carried on a ton of non-gel/liquid makeup without a problem. The restrictions only apply to liquids and gels.

oh thank goodness - my Bare Escentuals collection is huge and I don't want to check it! LOL

I thought I read on the TSA website that you could take liquid foundation as long as it was 3 oz. or less.

That is correct. (And as long as it is the magical quart zip top baggie!)

The powder make up has no such restrictions.

I just read on the Northwest website that the 'rule' for liquids/gels in the quart size zipbag was changed to 3.4oz (100ml or less) on Nov. 10, 2006. Haven't seen that info anywhere else though.

I'm thankful I switched to Everyday Minerals. Now it can all go with me in my carry-on. Just have to remember to put my mascara in my quart bag.

Delta also sent out the 3.4 oz update.

However, last time I checked theTSA website still says 3 oz. Someone else posted a link to an interview with the TSA where they updated to 3.4. Since as most of you know I don't have a lot of faith in the TSA I am sticking to 3 oz until I have something "official" I can print off thier website and bring with me.

True, but I had figured she since mentioned it was a large container, it was more than 3oz -- thus my comment :)

Mascara has to go in the quart bag? WHat about lip gloss? I was going to check all shampoos/conditions/ face wash etc. THe only thing I was going to put in my carry on was my lotion- which I HAVE TO HAVE and my makeup. Does lotion have to be 3. oz or less?

Mascara, lip gloss, lotion -- anything that can be considered a liquid or gel falls under the TSA guidelines unfortunately.
