Packing list for 1bdrm-anything you can add?

We always bring a pint of vinegar to run though the Jacuzzi bath tub before using it. All kinds of bacteria like to live in the lines. Large freezer zip lock bags are good to take to the parks to keep your cameras safe when on water rides and for rainy days.

After admitting that I wipe everything down with Clorox wipes, I was a bit afraid to tell everyone that I run half a cup of bleach through the Jacuzzi tub. I also run all the dishes we will be using through the dishwasher once we get in the room. I started doing this after I saw one of the maids rinse and hand dry a glass we had in the sink and put it back in the cupboard. Glad to see I am not the only clean nut. ;)

Hey Eva

I wouldn't worry too much what others think about being a clean nut as you are in good company. On our next trip I we will have ALL of the bedding changed before we sleep in any beds. I was under the impression that that was automatically done prior to a new arrival but I have since learned it is only done when the maids deem it necessary. Good tip on rewashing the dishes.

I agree with the earlier posters that you won't need paper products. They do a really great job in supplying you with what you may need. The one thing I bring is a pizza slicer because we buy frozen pizza when there and a knife just doesn't cut it. :rotfl:

Even though the pans are "non-stick", they are slightly older and well used. I still add about a half-tablespoon of butter to them when cooking, however olive oil or spray would do the trick too. Enjoy!

I bring a few sheets of aluminum foil in case we want to heat something in the oven. I also bring sanitizing wipes to clean the remotes, phone, counter tops etc......I'm paranoid and it only takes 5 minutes!!!

I also bring aluminum foil and cling wrap.
Sanitizing wipes are a must. The first thing we do is wipe all the above, including door and cupboard knobs, switches, appliance handles - basically, everything that others have touched.

Ditto! I just fold a few sheets of aluminum foil and pack it inside my zip lock bags!

What about handrails on the attractions, seats on the buses, toilets in the theme parks, etc.? I actually think the housekeepers do a pretty good job of cleaning the villas.

lol, I agree. We intentionally do not sanitize our world! If you never come in contact with any germs, you body never builds up immunity! We live on the edge! We eat yogurt days after it expires, let the dogs kiss us...
we are hardly ever sick! I think the last time I had a cold was 3 years ago. Becky is in 2nd grade now and has only had 1 sick day since starting pre k.

I'm not a neat freak by any standards but after finding glass ware more than once with dirty finger prints and lipstick (not my own) I do the same. It takes all of 5 minutes to put them in the dishwasher, set it off and go and then I am sure that I have clean dishes. I would request another glass in a restaurant were it dirty, so in my home away from home I start off with a wash!

OP -
If you plan on doing alot of cooking, I'd include a decent veggie peeler on your list.

Haven't taken a sick day at work, except for yearly check-ups, for over 4 years. I can tell you that I have come in contact with many germs in my day. I used to teach high school math. You can bet teachers get a lot of exposure! But I know that everyone has their thing. Mine is cleaning. I didn't get the title "Monica" from my husband for nothing.

That's a great example! Teachers! They are exposed to tons of germs and how many sick days do they take? I bet if you could test it, you'd find that they have a stronger immune system on average.
It's fine for people to clean if it makes them feel better - I just wanted to point out that you don't have to disinfect and wipe everything down to stay healthy.
I would definitely rewash the dishes if I found fingerprints/lipstick on them...that would just be gross (I'd probably also report it to the front desk).

Just thought I'd add that - if you do anything, you should peel back the sheets on each bed and look for dark spots along the piping....that would be a sign of bed bugs ...and THAT is something you do not want to bring home with you! It's becoming an epidemic..and there have been reports of them in the DVC villas.

Bed bugs - peel back ALL bedding so you expose the mattress and look along the edges of the mattress. Look into the seams. Bed bugs are visible, but they are small, so look closely!

They are horrid little creatures. It is worth the extra few minutes to do this!!!

By the piping I mean that rounded strip along the edge of the mattress...where the top meets the side. Bed bugs are smaller than fleas...but they leave behind dirt (bed bug poop) that's easy to spot.
The thing is, if there are bedbugs, you run a very high risk of bringing them home with you. It can be VERY difficult and expensive to get rid of them!

I agree about the lack of bedding for the sofa. I have called and they have brought us extra blankets and pillows.

I've never gotten a room without the bedding for the sleeper sofa in the room. Either right on the sleeper sofa, or on the closet shelf. And some of them have a pocket right in the bed where they stash the blanket and pillows.

I would recommend a shower scrungy, I would always forget to bring it and it makes a difference. I would also take a dish sponge just for quick clean ups! It makes a differenc when its faster!!
