Packing for a baby question

Hi.

I am leaving for Disney in less than two weeks. I am trying to pack for my 8 month old DD. Has anyone ever packed baby food in a bag that they checked with the airlines? I bought the baby food containers that are plastic, but I am concerned about them being damaged and creating a mess. Does anyone have any suggestions regarding how I can pack them? I considered carrying them on, but I already am toting a car seat, diaper bag, stroller, etc. (plus I have two other kids to account for) Is there a way that I can buy baby food once I get to Disney? One whole bag that I am checking contains, diapers, wipes, baby food, formula, etc. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I am starting to feel overwhelmed.

Thanks so much!

I would place the baby food in a soft cooler bag inside your luggage ( to use at the parks as well) or put them in a plastic ziploc baggie of some sort just in case of a messy situation. I don't see where there would be a problem with packing it:)

What about a grocery delivery? I haven't tried this (yet) but many others on here rave about gardengrocer.com - you could order everything (not only baby food but also diapers, wipes, formula etc...), that way you could do away with one of your bags.

Grociery Delivery is a good idea...another is you can send yourself a care package to where your staying. Put things like diapers/wipe/baby food etc and mail it to your hotel. That way it's waiting for you when you get there. It needs to have your name on it and when your staying there. And you need to make sure you put it in the mail with enough time to get there before you. But it would save a lot of bag space that way.

We took our DD to Mexico when she was 11 months old for 2 wks so we had a lot to pack.
Put the baby food in ziploc bags & pack around blankets & clothes to prevent breakage. We packed diapers in w/ her playpen. That way it didn't take up suitcase space & we got to check the playpen for free :)
We also bought a lot of stuff while we were down there.

Ship a box of all your baby supplies down to your resort exactly one week from your arrival day. I've done this many times it hasn't cost more than $15 for 5 day UPS ground service. You must ship it UPS or FED EX for it to go directly to your resort. If you ship thru the post office, it will go to a central mail center and won't be found for several weeks! :rotfl: You can find all the resort addresses on their pages at allears.net. Make sure to indicate on your label "Hold for Guest: Mr. & Mrs. SoandSo" Arrival Date: 4/20/09 Reservation #12345
I would put this info on all the sides of the boxes. When their stacked in the luggage room, it's easier for them to locate it. You will receive a tracking number from UPS/Fed Ex. Call the resort once it's received and make sure your box is noted in your reservation. Once you arrive to your room, you can call down to the luggage dept and tell them you'd like them to deliver the box. Oh and make sure to have something handy to open the box, I've used so much packing tape I had to kick the box open once! Now I stop by the CS and pick up a plastic knife!

I always pack another set of diapers and wipes in our luggage, just for extras.

This is the easiest way to travel with a baby.

I don't use a grocery delivery service because they cannot guarantee the specific items you request. If you request Pampers Size 4 and they're sold out, the service will substitute Huggies Size 4. This might work for some, but my chubby leg DS can't wear Huggies. I prefer buying my own items and shipping them down.

Hi we took our daughter with severe allergies for her one year birthday so I brought all of her food with us.

I carried some in her daiper bag incase they lost our suitcase. That also took some of the weight out of our checked luggage.

Then I put her jars all in a soft sided cooler bag. I put every few in a ziploc bag just incase. then to use as a seperater I packed our socks in between the jars. Then put it into our suitcase and hoped all would be ok. It was. remember when packing to pay attention to where the handles are so you know which way things in the bag may shift. I would pack some other clothes around the bag to so it is not on the edge of the suitcase.

Have a great trip!!!!:wizard:

Also pack disposable bibs with the velcro type closure so you can throw them away but also put them back on after the charachters come to visit at the breakfasts.
