Hi!
Planning a trip for the Sunday after Thanksgiving 2010 and following. Are shorts a good idea, or would light-weight pants be better?
Thanks!

I would pack both. I've been around that time of year and have had great weather (shorts and t-shirts during the day with a light jacket/sweatshirt at night) and other times when its been cold (never got out of jeans, sneakers, sweatshirt and needed a heavy jacket, hat & gloves at night).

Your best best is to pack a little of everything and check the weather right beforehand to see what to pack the most of.

I think it was in 200 when we went the first week of December. The trip photos are hilarious:

Day 1: shorts and t-shirts
Day 2: jeans and t-shirts/light sweaters
Day 3: Jeans and light jackets/sweatshirts
Days 4-8: Winter coats with gloves and hoods up (DD had no hood so we bought her mini mouse earmuffs). It was COLD and we realized we don't normally stand around outside in the cold in Michigan (where we lived at the time). Skiing or skating which keeps you warm yes, but just stnading still in line does not keep you warm.

It was pretty interesting to watch the costumes change in the park as the temperatures dropped too:thumbsup2

This is what I am currently stressing over the most! I'm trying to not only pack my DH, DD and myself but also trying to get my niece packed and she lives in a differnt house with parents that don't know up from down....UGH!!!

That's what we do! We prepare to have enough clothes for whatever the weather for the week, and then a day before we leave (we fly in the morning), we do a last weather check and go with that, but of course bringing a few of everything else just in case. :) We've gone around that time for 3 of the last 4 years and each was different. The first year we totally forgot about the whole being OUTSIDE thing and we were fine during the day, but once the sun goes down, it can get cold, and you're out in it! And yes, they do sell warmer clothing in the stores... it's just expensive. ;) Last year, I mittens & hats from the Target dollar section so that if we lost them it wouldn't be a big deal, and we had them in our backpack every day but of course never needed them. Who knows!? You'll still have an awesome trip, just be prepared. :)

We take a little of everything. 2 jeans, 2 capris, 2 shorts, etc. We fly, so we wear the bulkiest stuff on the plane. Just bring some of the Purex 3 in 1 sheets if you need to do wash. It really isn't a big deal to do laundry there, but definitely bring a little of everythign regardless of the weather. For example 60 may not sound that cold, but it is colder than you think when you are outside for several hours.

Yep, I am going the same week and have been that same week in previous years. You have to pack everything!:upsidedow
