None of us that are going in December are really breakfast eaters but I figure we should pack some stuff just in case. So besides poptarts and breakfast bars, what can I throw in my checked luggage that doesn't need to be heated or refridgerated?
I sometimes make little breakfast baggies for us to grab in the morning. I use Multigrain Cheerios, peanuts, dried cherry berry blend, and a handfull of dark chocolate M&Ms, and some Quaker Oatmeal Squares breakfast cereal in brown sugar or cinnamon. It's really filling, salty, sweet, and everyone is happy.
We also love pumpkin oatmeal muffins around here. I make a triple batch using the big can of Libby's pumpkin and use half white and half wheat flour. Throw in a bag of dark chocolate chips and we're good to go. You could also throw in some walnuts for protein. The PP who said they freeze them until it's time to leave had a good idea! We usually freeze most of the batch, and just pull out a bag of them now and then to last us a few days.
I haven't seen the applesauce sticks like gogurt. Do you know what brand these are? That would be great for some fruit on the go!We like rice krispie treats too... no more sugar than poptarts or other cereal bars. There are applesauce sticks sort of like gogurt but applesauce that you can take along, no need to refridgerate and do not require a spoon. I also do quite a bit of fruit, it's great on the go and comes in it's own package. Dried fruit as well. Granola bars, I make some homemade that are super yummy.
My kids will eat pretty much anything in a baggie with some stickers on it lol.
