Does anyone have experience picking up packets for others? Are faxed copies of everything okay? it looks like the only form that might be a problem is the waiver, but since so many transactions can be done through fax and scan now, I wondered if anyone has done that?

Why would the waiver be an issue and not the packet pick up authorization form, also? It really depends on the volunteer on the other side of the table. In the past, before the authorization form came around we have used a scanned copy and everything was OK.

If you have an option get a scanned copy and print that out.

Remember, waiver, authorization form and a copy of the Drivers License are required starting this year.

ok. i'll ask her to scan everything. thanks!

I was only questioning the waiver because the pick-up form says:

1.A copy of myvalid drivers license or photo identification card; and
2.My original signed event waiver

....and I guess I hadn't even thought about the pick-up form needing to be original. :X

Her packet is for the 5K, and I read somewhere that packets for that event can be picked-up even the morning of the race. So if they won't accept the scanned copies, that will be our plan B.

Thanks again!

Kelli

That is correct, since the 5k is more of a fun run/ local race there is a packet pickup on race day.

Ok, so I've printed off my waiver and can get a signed copy to my contact. Ditto a copy of my driver's license. What's the deal with the authorization form? Is that an official form out there somewhere, or just a note from me saying "John Doe may pick up my packet"???

Thanks.

If you are picking up your own packet, do you need to have a copy of your license or do they just want to see it?

Okay, this could get confusing, but I will try and explain it right. I am already in Orlando (I have been for over 2 weeks now with my parents whom I haven't seen in 18 months :cool1:), so I am planning on heading to packet pick up at opening on Thurs. My friend is running the half with me (I am doing Goofy) and her daughter (whom I nanny for) is running the kids race on Saturday also; however, they are not coming down until the kiddo finishes school on Fri (about 2:30PM), so I was planning on picking up their packets when I get mine (just in case - life with a four year old doesn't always go to plan! :worship:). I know how to pick up my friends half packet (thanks to all your helpful info here), but the kids race I am a little unsure of. Her Mom will sign her waiver as her parent right? and then I can just go and pick it up? Or will I need another form for that because I have a different last name to her. On the other hand, the mom also has a different last name to her daughter, so won't it be the same thing as if she was picking it up?

Thanking you all as always,

Kirsty

For the kiddo packets

Parent signs the waiver and authorization form and gives a copy of the ID.

It's confusing since the signature on the form is not the same as the kid's name, but I think it makes sense once you think about it.

So I should just get two copies of the mom's ID and get her to sign the waiver and we should be good to go?

Thanks,

Kirsty

To keep things real simple I would have two packets. One for your friend and then a complete package for the kiddo. Each package would have a waiver, a form and a copy of the ID. That would make things simpler in the line for pick up. In all reality, you probably only need one copy of the ID but you never know if Disney will want to start collecting the copy of the ID, authorization form and waiver at the expo as proof of who picked up the stuff.

Okay, then that is what we shall do :thumbsup2 Thanks for the advice coach!
