Okay, I know a lot of you have children, I've seen the pics! ;) Anyway, how do you all have the TIME to sew and scrapbook and everything else?

Please, please, please fill me in on the secret!!!

Drugs? Coffee? No sleep? All of the above? You are all really rich with nannies? :lmao:

The most popular answers here are
1. Diet Coke ( I don't drink the stuff personally, I'm a coffee drinker:surfweb: )
2. We don't do do laundry
3. We ignore our children (but we do put in disney movies for them:rotfl: )

did I leave anything out????

DISMEET IDEA

I would like to have 2 meets.

Here's my idea- we could meet earlier in the day at a park at one of the resorts. Someone else would probably have a better idea of which resort has the best non-swimming play area. The kids could play while we talked and mingled. We would bring our whole family (spouses, kids, mom in my case).

Then, we could meet again in the evening for one of the cruises Karen is talking about. I know nothing about the cruises, so someone will have to fill me in on how many people can go, how much it costs, etc...

I'm thinking the 2nd meet can be just us girls. But, we would welcome kids and spouses if people want to bring them.

What do you all think?

I'm so excited to meet you all!! However, just to clarify things, since we are staying off-site I think I will be with my DH and kids all the time. I could send him off to another part of the park with all 4 kids, but we may never see one or two of them again. He is not exactly the most vigilant supervisor :rolleyes1 Also the 8th will be our first day there so my kids will want to be in a park at least a good part of the day. Two meets would be fun, but not sure what I could manage. I don't want to be the one person that brings a pack of kids that run around and drive everyone crazy. Not that my kids would do that or anything...:rolleyes1

 Ha, ha, ha about the question of time for sewing with kids....thats an issue at my house but generally I run 'em around all morning, then feed them lunch and then while they are relaxing or napping I sew. Sometimes I can fit an hour or so in the evening but I am usually whopped by then myself. This is why it takes me forever to get any sewing done! And I couldnt do it until my youngest was almost 3 and a bit more independent. Also, I have my sewing area in the playroom. So we all go in there and play and watch tv etc together which is nice! I just gotta keep them away from the iron  And when I am working, I can only sew a little bit on the weekends cause I am too busy and tired the rest of the week. ;)

ELMO!!!!! Yes I "bribe" my DD to let me sew with ELMO (Can I say that on the Dis board?:lmao:) She LOVES Elmo and I get an hour all to myself when he is on. When I have more to do I bribe her with a trip to the ELMO show at Sea World. ;)

I won't have my kids, if I go, so I would be more than happy to help you with yours :rotfl2: :thumbsup2

WOW Stacy good luck w/ your promotion. That's very exciting. I hope you can make it out in Feb.

As for GTG's... I am really game for anything. I don't know that any of the resorts have a really great non pool play area. Most have play areas by the pool but they aren't very big. I say let's see what Karen finds out about a Magical Gathering. It's far away and we have time to look into it. We could take the kids to the petting zoo at FW. OR to one of the miniature golf courses, they are pretty inexpensive.

...t.

I know POP has a nice climb structure near the food court and pool. (Morgan LOVES that playground). It is a bit off to the side away from the pool. But there is also a splash fountain play area (depending how "hot" it is in Feb)

I would be more than willing to go "scout" out great play areas at Disney.
Like I need a reason to go tot WDW LOL

1. I sew in the morning while all of my DD's favorite shows are on. 2. My house isn't always as clean as I'd like. 3. I sew after my children go to bed at night.

DisMeet for boutiquers!

I am in contact with WDW Custom events to see what kind of things they can offer us. When they call back, I'll ask anything you want- so.... any request??
I will ask them to keep the general cost down..... WAY down.

Would anyone be interested in a dinner viewing Illuminations at EPCOT one night, just for the adults- instead of the Illuminations cruise???

ANd PLEASE - tell me right now if you think this is just too much planning and you want it to be more casual- I'll be ok with that too! I just love thinking of all the possibilities of things we could do!

How about a treasure hunt in the parks for families and kids during the day???

Thanks for working on this Karen! Those things sound fun, but like I said, I don't think I'll be without children at any point. Kind of the story of my life :rotfl:

I do all three and still don't have time!! :)

Hmm, a good idea. I did bring my stuff from my sewing table upstairs in my bedroom down into the dining room (that we never use for dining), so I'd be closer to the kids in the playroom, but they always come over and want to "help". Which is really cute, but not really very helpful!

ELMO!!!!! Yes I "bribe" my DD to let me sew with ELMO (Can I say that on the Dis board?:lmao:) She LOVES Elmo and I get an hour all to myself when he is on. When I have more to do I bribe her with a trip to the ELMO show at Sea World. ;)

I can bribe my 4 year old, but not my 2 year old. When he wants mommy, he wants mommy! :(

I'm too pooped to sew after the kids go to bed. How do you folks find the energy? :worship:

:guilty: I want to go! I wish I could go...no such luck! If there was anyway I could go to the Dismeet I would be there...I have to live thru you guys!

I have been so busy with stuff around the house these last few days...I hate spring cleaning in the middle of July! Yuck! But, I am trying to get my closets all cleaned out so maybe I can have a yard sale soon. Again, Yuck! No sewing for me right now. Kinda sad really! But, I will continue to love everybody else's stuff!

Oh! But good news...DH agreed to WDW for next year!   He asked the kids if they REALLY wanted to go back and they screamed YES! So, I do get to start planning again...is it too early to start that now for next June? Nope!:goodvibes And he wants to go to Seaworld too! That leads to more plans!

Oh and finindg time to sew...it's great because the kids are getting older. they love to draw and stuff, so when they are doing that I sew. My "corner" is in the playroom too, that helps. DD likes to help somtimes, and I let her. She is excited because I told her that when I get a new machine, she can have my old one. She wants to learn now, I am so excited about that! Now, that new machine part, I'm working on that since my birthday is the 31st! Dropping lots of hints to EVERYONE in the family!

I love that you're really getting into this!!

I'm kind of hoping to keep one of the gatherings a little more layed back. I want to chat with everyone and see your cute kids and such, more than doing any activities. If there are actual activities for the kids, I'd be busy helping them with that rather than spending any time with you guys.

I'm up for doing pretty much anything some evening without the kids. But, anyone who wants to bring their kids would be welcome to (that's you, jham).

I was 25 pages behind, but had a very good read! I love the sponge bob applique! Also the Tink peeking out of the tee, and Lisa, your Cinderella took my breath away!

Congratulations to all of you sewing and selling on ebay. What a fun adventure and fantastic way to use your creative outlets! Best of luck to all of you!

I am a planner and I kind of LOVE structured activities...I am the total opposite of Heather. I don't do well w/ casual stuff. I even plan our spontaneous days on vacation. Like "we can all have Tues. to do something that's UN planned." So I will just leave it up to you guys. This is WDW and it's a kid thing...plus there are families whose vacation we have to squeeze this into. I don't care if we go to a park and hang out and ride rides and talk while we walk around the park. Like I said the 4th -15th have one of the lowest attendance expectancies of the the whole year so I'm thinking we'll pretty much walk onto any rides.
...t.

We may be down in Feb. as well. It's still up in the air. I'm hoping we can make it. Delaney's little boyfriend and his family are going to be down and we're trying to coordinate with them. The kids really miss each other a lot since they moved to Michigan.

Twob4him, was it you and your family that just recently went to Dutch Wonderland? We're heading down that way in Sept. for a Day Out With Thomas. Did you stay at Willow Valley Resort? If you did, did the girls love it? The water playground looks like fun.

I really love it. I think that there is a site where you can get it for $70 if you don't mind waiting for them to send you the CD. I am impatient and just downloaded it from Adobe for $99. I really, really love it though. I wish that I hadn't given away my "learn to use elements" book. I would have given it to you!

Great idea.

OK, I am going to put this out there- I applied for a new job within my company. If I get the job, it will be $350 more a month plus a bonus at the end of the year (7-10% of my salary) in addition to the normal 2 weeks pay bonus. If I get the job, I am totally going in Feb. With or without kids is still a question though.

Thanks for the thoughts on Photoshop. I have a brand new Canon DSLR and no Photoshop to play with!!!

Keeping my fingers crossed for your new job!
