I'm in North Andover....which is about 35 miles North...right on the NH border.

Ah. I work in Portsmouth, not too far. At least, in relation to WDW! ;)

Finding time to sew =

Extremely messy house and pile of laundry on couch, bigger then me!

Staying up to all hours of the night!

Cheerios served for every meal!

Nap time is reserved for NAPS in this house, BY ALL!

See, I KNEW it! None of you sleep! That is my problem, I'll just stop sleeping. So, new question, how do you all use your sewing machines in the dead of night while everyone else is sleeping? ;)

help! I'm making Carla's easy fit pans for a 6 month old. Has anyone done this? Should I try to make the pattern smaller or should I just use a bigger seam allowance? TIA

DISMEET IDEA

I would like to have 2 meets.

Here's my idea- we could meet earlier in the day at a park at one of the resorts. Someone else would probably have a better idea of which resort has the best non-swimming play area. The kids could play while we talked and mingled. We would bring our whole family (spouses, kids, mom in my case).

Then, we could meet again in the evening for one of the cruises Karen is talking about. I know nothing about the cruises, so someone will have to fill me in on how many people can go, how much it costs, etc...

I'm thinking the 2nd meet can be just us girls. But, we would welcome kids and spouses if people want to bring them.

What do you all think?

That's a great idea. If we stay onsite we can use the kids' club at the resort. My kids beg to go there. Hey, we should go to Jellyrolls! :lovestruc

Okay, I know a lot of you have children, I've seen the pics! ;) Anyway, how do you all have the TIME to sew and scrapbook and everything else?

Please, please, please fill me in on the secret!!!

Drugs? Coffee? No sleep? All of the above? You are all really rich with nannies? :lmao:

I sew a lot after they go to bed. Also, my kids are older and can entertain themselves more. They are so sweet when they play together. But I do get most of my sewing done while they are school or camp.

DisMeet for boutiquers!

I am in contact with WDW Custom events to see what kind of things they can offer us. When they call back, I'll ask anything you want- so.... any request??
I will ask them to keep the general cost down..... WAY down.

Would anyone be interested in a dinner viewing Illuminations at EPCOT one night, just for the adults- instead of the Illuminations cruise???

ANd PLEASE - tell me right now if you think this is just too much planning and you want it to be more casual- I'll be ok with that too! I just love thinking of all the possibilities of things we could do!

How about a treasure hunt in the parks for families and kids during the day???

Wow, you are the planner! As long as someone else is doing the planning, I am up for anything.

Wow, that Jojo is great! Are you going to do splotchy paint pants?

Again, that spongebob is coveted by a boy here, lol! The recipient will be thrilled, I am sure.

I love that mickey shirt. I want one for me!

Wow, very cheap! Much less than what I spent for a futon cover and those look great!

I hear you about the curtains. I bought fabric for curtains about 4 years ago that is still in the closet. And I have been meaning to make black out curtains for my little rooster's room since we moved here!

I dunno if this pattern comes with "doll" sized ones - but I have used those and enlarged them for babies. . . perhaps you can do that with this pattern?

I made Hope some at seven months. I was aiming for capri kinda length (with the contrasting cuff) but when I measured, it was virtually at the crotch level so I ended up with them a bit longer. I used the normal seam allowances and just ended up with more elastic and they look OK (though I use cloth nappies so need a bigger bum than average!!)

Now I look again they seem a bit on the wide side!!

Drugs? Coffee? No sleep? All of the above? You are all really rich with nannies? :lmao:

Drugs? No.

Coffee? Definitely in the morning and then I switch to soft drinks (diet Barqs or ginger ale).

No sleep? Some but too often not enough. Most night I'm up until 2am and then awake by 8am. My DD (6.5) will sometimes let me sleep once she's awake but usually once she's up, I am too. I've always been more of a night person so mornings are pretty slow to start.

Laundry? It gets washed and dried but often sits in the basket for a few days before I get around to folding it.

Dishes? I'm always bad on this even when I don't have a lot of sewing to do. I wait to empty the dishwasher and too often end up with a full load of dirty dishes by they time I get around to it.

For now, sewing is my work so I have to find time. It's not always easy especially when I can't pull myself away from the computer. During the school year, my DD was gone for a few hours in the morning (she was in kindergarten). June was tough because we both had some trouble adjusting to the new schedule which meant I got even less sleep as I tried to keep up. DD is in summer school this month which helps. She's gone 4 mornings each week so 'm trying to use that time as efficiently as possible. She's also old enough to keep herself entertained for an hour or so at a time. When her friends are over, I'm mostly around to provide snacks and keep half an eye on them. They're pretty good about leaving me to sew most days. Hopefully August will be smoother than June. When school starts, she'll be gone longer so I should be able to get more done, right? LOL

Can I PLEASE thank each and every person who has started a trip report. You have made my boring Friday office duty days (did I say that??? :ssst: ) much more amusing!

I got a package in the mail today from my sister for my birthday; Megan helped me open it. The contents:

a $35 gift certificate to JoAnns
a fancy dancy seam ripper
a crease marker
a ring to hold on my bobbins

Pretty cool!:cool1:

They are members of "another" board that started an Ebay selling group. Some of them post here occasionally.

Well they are actually disers that met on the original thread and they decided to combine forces..
And I think that most people do occasionally post, life sometimes gets in the way of the dis. especially in the busy summer time and school starting. I think a lot of people post for a while then are absent due to life and vacations etc.. but everyone comes in and lurks or checks in occasionally. I am guilty of that..

So am I the only person who logically KNOWS that Dutch Wonderland is a real place but sometimes forgets and thinks its made up because it was on Jon and Kate plus 8???? Totally screwed me up when they went to Disney because they invaded my reality :rotfl:
We are going to Dutch Wonderland in just a few weeks - probably August 4 or 5. We are going on our annual summer visit to the inlaws who live just outside York PA. If only you knew how ewxcited I am to go back to York (notice any sarcasm?).
I vaguely remember someone making Dutch Wonderland customs last summer. Does anyone remember who that was?

Exactly. . . :) I am guilty of that too often! Especially at the rate this thread grows and re-spawn's
