My uncle will be the one building the house. He owns his own company. It's called Strong Built Construction. My grandpa will be overseeing the entire project. He wants to make sure that everything is done correctly. He used to be a contractor himself. He's just not up to building a house here lately. DH and I will be doing the painting and stuff like that. I have a really cool idea for Jenna's room. I saw it at Home Depot. I'm excited to get the house built, because it will be mine and not just a rental with plain white walls. I will get to add color and decorations.
I love that it is such a family affair! I can't wait to hear all about it!

Was someone looking for these:

I was you rock! Need to go save them to word!

Luckily most of her friends seem envious that I sew for her. Instead I'd do simple back with a ruffle around the bottom. I'm still trying to find a good balance between what I like on her and what she thinks is "her style". :rotfl:
I love that! Your stuff is stunning! My dd would LOVE that!

Teresa does the bookmarks and I help her with them every once in a while. I've been slacking lately and that's why there's so many extra bookmarks that aren't categorized! Thank you for saying you love them. That really means a lot to us!

I know what you mean! I was dxed with my autoimmune disease during my first hospital stay. Come to find out I was one of the lucky ones because lots of people don't get diagnosed until they have a stroke, or worse.

Oh my gosh, she looks SOO pretty! No wonder she got so much attention in Chicago!

the book marks are wonderful I have been playing in them a lot lately!

If I can be so bold and ask if your autoimmune disease is Hyperthyroidism? I have that and when I was 1st dx'd the 1st thing my dr said is he was shocked I hadn't had a heart attack since my heart was racing so fast and I had no clue it was racing. With Hyperthyroidism my metabolism should be going a mile a minute but NO I get the racing heart and GAIN weight instead of drop weight like the average person with Hyperthyroidism.

Ooops!!! I forgot to find the picture for you, Minnie2. I think it's in the photobucket account. Let me check....

Okay, they are in the photobucket account under the "patterns" tag. Here's a link:

Thanks for noticing my new siggy pics!

Thanks! What is the password? can I find it on the 1st page?

Here are some more pictures from our June trip.

The AMAZINGLY TALENTED Lisa made these for me. SOOOOOOOO GORGEOUS!!!!!!:worship:
She is amazing the clothes are stunning and of course so are your little ones.

Karebear: I don't know anyone, but I have to ask you why you are asking?

I let Tessa use the sewing machine for the first time yesterday! She picked out some fabric at JoAnn and some ribbon. She wanted to make a "fancy dress" with them, but I talked her into starting out with a pillow! :lmao:

She did SUCH a great job and she was so giggly and excited. It was so cool to teach her about something I love!

She pinned the ribbons on the fabric, just how she wanted them and she got them pretty straight. She was in charge of steering the fabric while I pressed on the foot pedal. I think her favorite part was using the string cutter on the side of the sewing machine. Here are some pictures.

Putting in the stuffing (I just let her tear apart an old pillow and use the stuffing).

What great job tessa did!

I know this is totally off topic but..

Does anyone here know anyone that's had a liver transplant?

I don't know anyone close who has had one, but when Riley was born there was a time that we thought she might have to have one so I asked millions of questions. I will say that was a horrible time. I remember thinking that I was waiting for someone else's baby to die. i am very grateful that it didn't come to that, but we saw many children in the ICU recovering from liver transplants. I think that the biggest deal of the whole thing was getting their meds right after the surgery.

Nope, I have antiphospholipid antibody syndrome. It causes blood clots and lots of frustrating "unofficial" symptoms.

The password is disboards. It's in the first post in the thread, too.

Good Job Tessa! BTW, I just bought that same shirt (FairyGodmother time) for my Disney trip!

I haven't been on all week. I have been dealing with life and that has depressed me emensely. DH has a job that doesn't pay near as much as he used to make and he won't find another job, even though he promised me that he would. The financial burden is falling on me and I'm currently in school so there just isn't too much that I can do. I already work two jobs, plus I sew. So, I spent the weekend with my grandparents and they let me vent about my problems. Yesterday I dug 7 post holes for my grandpa, who has been sick, for his new porch that he is trying to build. I'll be back out there later this week to help him put the posts in the holes and then start on the porch. He has given DH and I a piece of land on his property for us to build a house. He is even going to get us the loan to build the house. He has already drawn up the plan for the house and it will be a huge difference to what we are living in now.

I have been lurking, just been too far down to post.

I do want to give hugs to Riley  . I hope that the doctor gets his thumb out of his booty and does something for your angel.

I love all of the outfits that have been posted this week. It looks like everyone had a great fourth of july.

And Hello and Welcome to all of the Newbies. :cheer2:

Oh no! I hope you are feeling better  Stupid boys ;)

Hi everyone!!! OMGosh it's been about 4 months since I have been on here last and everyone is just sewing up a storm. The outfits and such look amazing. Way to go!!

Anyways I just wanted to come out and show everyone my new ceation that I have been working on. It's NOT clothes but it does involve sewing of matieral and such.

It's a diaper cake that has two Mickeys on it. The mommy to be was expected to have twins; so I put on the two Mickeys to represent that. It was loaded with socks, baby wipes, baby shampoo, baby wash, rattles, bottles, pacifiers, baby powder, plus more and then I had 4 cake tiers done in over 150 PAMPERS diapers.

If I can find my pics I will show you my Winnie The Pooh ones also that I have done. I just started about a month and a half ago and I have done prob. over 50 cakes. Some are even over 4 feet tall now!!!

Thanks again and keep on sewing!!!!

Denise- I know that was a while ago, but did you find any good websites or blogs about it by any chance?

I know this is totally off topic but..

Does anyone here know anyone that's had a liver transplant?

Yeah. My MIL's BFF's DD just had a liver transplant. She's in her early 20's. This was 3 or 4 weeks ago and she is still in the hospital. Her spleen threw a blood clot and the dr.s wouldn't listen to her and check into her severe abdominal pain by the time they did (3 days later) the clot had cut off the blood supply to the liver for too long and they need to replace it. She has been moved to the highest priority on the waiting list. She has been having trouble w/ the doctors listening to her all along b/c of her age. They were removing her gall bladder when they found out her liver was severely degenerated. The Doc. grabbed her chart to make sure he had the right gall bladder patient. B/C of her age they totally grilled her and basically pegged her as a severe alcohol and drug addict, from my understanding. But it turns out that it was a degenerative disease she'd most likely had her whole life. But after the transplant she was complaining of SEVERE abdominal cramps and they basically accused her of just wanting them to up her morphine dosage. I swear, what has this world come to that our doctors no longer take the complaints of their patients seriously.

:cheer2: :cheer2: HOORAY TESSA!!!!!You did a great job sugar!

So did she actually have the transplant yet, or is she on the list?

Denise- I know that was a while ago, but did you find any good websites or blogs about it by any chance?

I don't think I even had internet at the time. If I did I wouldn't have been home to look at it because we were at the hospital for a couple of months. Sorry I can't be more help.

Minnie2, sorry I missed your question earlier. My skirts have more than 100yds total chiffon and fewer seams than any of the online tuts I've seen for them. Everyone seems to make them differently so it just depends on how full you want it and how accepting you are of seams.

iluvwdw4ever - those outfits are gorgeous. LisaZoe does such amazing work.

I was thinking earlier today that I don't have enough stress in my life so I decided to bite off more than I can easily chew. I have had an idea floating around in my head for a while and today I threw caution to the wind and prayed that some pixie dust would come flying back at me.

stitchapplique003.jpg

I love Stitch. I think he is just so cute and lovable despite his tendency to get into trouble. :stitch2: :stitch2: :stitch2: :stitch2: :stitch2: :stitch2:
This is my first pieced applique. I have no immediate plans for this piece so I put it on plain white fabric for now. I still have to give him some teeth and claws and outline his arms/hands/feet better.

Sorry, he seems to be sideways. He is straight in photobucket.:confused3 :confused3 :confused3

Official "We Love CarlaC" Post:

Hey all, me again! Look what I made this morning!

She got water on the front of the shirt right before I took pictures.

DSC09913_320x480.jpg

It only took me a total of 40 minutes to make it!! That includes cutting out the pieces! I used 2 of my old t-shirts and cut the pattern out of them. I used CarlaC's "All the Rage Raglans" ebook. This is the first time I've ever worked with knits. It wasn't hard at all because the ebook gives some good tips. Plus, this was a heavier knit and it didn't curl up like some lighter weight ones probably would.

I thought we'd take pictures in the bathroom, to change things up a bit! :rotfl:

This one is just for Luke. Tessa thought he'd think she looked cool.

DSC09918_360x480.jpg

Heather, Tessa looks adorable! You did a great job, I love the pink and yellow on her! The way you did her hair reminds me of how I use to do the French braid across the top of you head, and then hanging down the side. You know, like we saw on "Santa Barbara" was it Eve or Kellly that wore it like that???

ATTENTION PLEASE! I HAVE ANNOUNCEMENT TO MAKE!

I'm sitting here in tears. WHY? Because I couldn't be happier to be a a part of such a great group of gals & gent! You all make me so proud! I remember taking the "Keys To the Kingdom" tour with my DH 4 years ago. Part of that tour was describing what goes into "making magic". It's about the little things that may seem like just a little thing, but when presented to someone that wants to believe, it is TRUE MAGIC! That is exactly what we are doing! We're creating magic! And I, for one, am seeing the magic all over again by seeing the joy in this family! I tuly feel like a "custom fairy". As a matter of fact, I'm claiming that title for myself!

Ok, back to your regularly scheduled sewing! Thanks again!

Oh Shannon, you are too sweet! You know of course, you made me cry now, don't you!
What cute pix!

Very cool! Nice bathroom! Our house was built in 1891 so we have one tiny bathroom! One day we hope to add a 2nd one! Or move back down south! Last house had 3 bathrooms! Talk about a change! We joke that our DVC bathroom is ltterly twice the size of our reg bathroom!

Heather's house is just amazingly gorgeous! As she said, Henry built it, but Heather picked out some of the most amazing things to decorate it with! Like those mosaics in her floor! She has a few of those throughout her house! They are so cool, and she has what I call stained glass panels (but she has a fancy word for it) above each of their doorways, and don't even get me started on her sinks! SOOO COOL! Her back porch even has ceiling fans, which amazes my kids to no end!! Ceiling fans, OUTSIDE! Heather won't brag about her house, but that doesnt' mean I can't! :rotfl:

i was just wondering, how many of you were sewers before you saw this thread and how many of you started after being amazed by everything on here. i thought i would never sew after a 7th grade sewing teacher said some very mean things to me after i couldnt thread a bobbin. but i have now done 4 outfits and am so grateful to you guys for inspiring me to try and succeed at something i never thought i could.

I have been sewing quite awhile, but a lot of the ladies here haven't been sewing long at all, and their work is just amazing! I need to dig up a picture of my first sewing machine to share with you all!
I felt like a miserable failure after I made some disasterous overall-ish pants for my nephew when he was a baby (and I was 17). They finally fit him now, 15 years later. Teresa has a hilarious picture of him wearing them, but I can't find it.

I decided to take the plunge into sewing after my sister showed me this wonderful thread. Last July (I thought it was in June, but it was exactly a year ago today!!) I made these 2 outfits for Lydia and Tessa.
7-6-07TessaandLydiainMinniedresses.jpg

This is my favorite outfit I've made to date. I finished it in January.
1-22-08front.jpg

I love this thread and the people who post here. It's been such a wonderful year with you all!!! Happy anniversary!
I can't seem to find the picture of Corey either!

Happy sewing anniversary Heather! Lydia and Tessa look so little in that picture! They sure have lost a lot of their baby looks this past year! :sad2:

We went to MK this morning. It was GREAT!!! No Crowds at all. We got Dream fastpasses and a Meet and greet with the Princesses.

We have a new "member" in our family-this is Morgan and Danielle in matching Goofy outfits. Goofy LOVED her outfit LOL

goofy.jpg

And she went on Splash Mountain and had a blast (it was soo funny a WALL of water got her LOL)
That is so cool that you got Dream Fastpasses! Morgan looks absolutely adorable in her outift!!! What kind of doll did she get? It looks really pretty. I still love Jord though!

I started work on my cindy applique and I need HELP!!!!!!

I pretty much have it sorted out except for the eyes. Here is what I have so far:
DSCF0036.jpg

and here is what I am working from:
bigcindyface.gif

I tried a pice of white material for the eyes appliqued with black thread, but i think it was just too small I couldn't bget the outline to look right. Should I just hand embroider them or is there a better way I don't know about?

Oh my gosh, how cool is that!? I've only had one accidental Diser meeting when I met Krispy at Disney Studios. You guys are so cute! It's great to see pictures of some of the moms and not just the kids!
I've had several accidental Diser meetings! Sometimes I see Heather someplace I wasn't expecting her, and sometimes I see Disneymom5 (Sarah) around town or galavanting outside of her house when I drive by!

Thank you, Cindee.

There's a little pond thing in the hospital and Tessa keeps throwing pennies in it and wishing that Great Grandma will come home. Teresa said she did the same thing when I was in the hospital a couple years ago. She's such a sweetheart.
I thought of Tessa when we went by that pond on Friday. How sweet that she threw pennies there for Grandma too.
Here's Lils in her Wall E skirt. DH, with his great fatherly wisdom, decided to let her take a little nap 15 minutes before we were supposed to leave for the movie. She is not too happy that I woke her up! And thanks Michelle! I used your Wall E design from the DISign boards for the "apron". I just cropped it and added a border. I totally CASEd Sugarbees on the skirt

IMG_0926-1.jpg
I love this! Lily looks adoarable! The little apron in the front is so cute!
Thanks Sheri and everyone who has mentioned Riley here and in pms. I really appreciate it.
Denise, I am so sorry Riley has to go through all this. I can't even imagine how hard it is on her and you and the rest of your family. That poor little sweetheart. I pray that you find a doctor who will be able to help her and bring her some relief.

I haven't had time to catch up on the thread yet, but just wanted to post what I made for my daughter. This is for Animal Kingdom, although I make make a skirt instead of the pants, since it will be so hot.

July6th035.jpg
Renae
Renae, I love this! The fabric is wonderful!!! I think she looks like Devine! That is such a great outfit for AK!
wow i am so unbeleivably behind i need to just go check out the photobucket account ..
Hey Misty! Please don't go disapearing on us! We miss you and Wendy!

PS ~ A big to whoever maintains the bookmarks (Heather?) I LOVE them!
Thanks! I have fun finding them all! Heather helps me organize them. I need to get in their and organize some though! If you are ever looking for something specific, the search function is really great!
My mom gave Nikki her petti skirt this weekend and now she wants me to make her one
DSCN0792.jpg

Ok so part of me wants to brave making one for her too.. But I am VERY nervous.

I need to get my ruffler foot before I attempt one though.
Nikki looks gorgeous in that!!!! I love the hot pink pettis, and that top is adorable with it!

I need to sell my house and just move us into a big storage shed!
I can SO relate to this statement!

I haven't been on all week. I have been dealing with life and that has depressed me emensely. DH has a job that doesn't pay near as much as he used to make and he won't find another job, even though he promised me that he would. Crystal, I'm sorry you are having a tough time lately. I hope things look up soon. Your new house sounds like it is going to be wonderful for you!
Everyone:
You know ever since I posted that pic of my DD10 in her Hershey Park twirl top and everyone commented on the ruffles....hmmmmm now I am wondering if she is too old for ruffles.... I never considered the prospect of that! I'm not really fashion conscience...do you think the top looks ok on her for her age??? Here's another pic in case you missed it!

IMGP5992.jpg

( PS...she is goofin around in the pic with the sunglasses and hair band...and also she seems to have no issues with wearing the ruffles.....but hey, what do we know???

I was more thinking along the lines of having the three all matchy matchy....I really need honest opinions on whether or not you think she is too old for this top! Thanks everyone!!!
NO NO NO!!! She is NOT too old for ruffles!!! I love it on her!

Try to focus on the positive things like that and remember that this too shall pass.
Good advice T. I'm sorry you were having such a rough day the other day too.

Here are some more pictures from our June trip.

The AMAZINGLY TALENTED Lisa made these for me. SOOOOOOOO GORGEOUS!!!!!!:worship:

That is so cute! How did you do that?

TIFANI- Did your friend have a portal vein thrombosis? Heather's APLS caused her to have one, and she was in more pain than I have ever seen anyone in in my entire life. It was just horrible.
