Packed & Moved..Disboutiquers Part 6 Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes we sew

I've had an idea in my head for a bag to take on my next trip to the world.
When I heard about the Big Give I decided to give it a try and see how it turned out.

I cut out two bags, one for me and one for the BIG GIVE.

I really liked the way they looked so I decided to make a smaller version for Isabelle. Then my DD saw the bags so she said she wanted one. I started cutting out more Minnie Dot and made the last two.

So get ready for lots of Minnie Bags

For the Big Give

Smaller bag made using the "She Loves Me, She Loves Me Knot" pattern from You can Make this. I left off the knot.

I love these! So cute! I have been thinking about making myself a bag for my WDW trip in November. I found a few in the book marks but the butterick one might have to be checked out!

Upon further investigation I realize that the owner of said boutique (who also sells her stuff on e-bay and I'm sure it's the same stuff on her site-which DON'T get me wrong, has never been an issue for me, you want exclusivity- fine I'll make other designs to sell elsewhere I've got range.) has stuff in ANOTHER boutique which claims loud and clear that it is from WBB and has her name on the photos and on labels on the items...... the more I think about it the more I get a little offended that she even asked me to NOT put my name on things, but there is the Jessica and Tifani thinking that "sometimes we take what we can get" and I ought to let it go for now. JEESH!

...t.
Good luck with this. I still say your stuff your name!

IDEA FOR THE BIG GIVE

I know I am a newbe here but last night I woke up ad had an idea for the big give. Maybe some one can start a thread on here with the whole Big Give idea and just like in the beginning of the sewing thread there are specifics. IE how to be a receiver and how it is verified and who decided who is worthy, who wants to make what etc. This way other creative type or even non creative types can contribute if they want. not just the sewing ladies and gent.

Maybe even have 2 threads one to wish for things and one for granting the wishes?

This would mean some one would have to monitor the thread and keep an eye on it at all times though.
Just some thoughts that came to me at 3am. :cool1:

Here is my finished Pettiskirt. I think I might attempt another one, now that I have a working ruffler. I used a stretch chiffon from a theatre art store that Lisazoe posted. The second is twirl factor. Color might look odd, she has on a brown skort underneath. I do want to get her a pair of petti pants to go underneath.

This is the skirt I made for it. It's not finished yet. I'm thinking of putting a bandana print ruffle on it (that will co-ord with the top). The second isn't a very good shot of the fabric. It's mickey as a cowboy. We're going to the BarBQue.

And since everyone already did thier Dance Recitial. We just had ours last weekend. Not good shots. My camera is starting to bite the dust. Kirsta is second to left in the Cowboy outfit and on the far right in the fairy outfit.

I was just at Walmart, they have a new Tink Fairie fabric. Of course I got a couple of yards. Lord knows what I'll do with it.

AND, I still have a slant shank ruffler if anyone needs one. I'd be glad to send it.

LOVE the pettie and the recital pics!

Looks great!!!!!

Here are a few things I made for Abby for her birthday (the watermelon outfit girlie).....
This first one Im worried the top will be too small - I made Carla's aline in a size 5 but the short length, and it looks tiny!!!! cross your fingers for me!!!
100_0942.jpg

Here are some bows to go with her watermelon outfit, and then a shirred walmart princess dress I had already given her...
100_0943.jpg

Here is the ariel shirred dress plus a bitty baby ariel pillowcase dress...
100_0944.jpg

Hannah Montana shorts and top (plus shorts for Bitty)
100_0945.jpg

And the final one - yes, she is in love with speed racer!!! she is getting a helmet from her parents, so I thought this would be fun to match!!!
100_0946.jpg

Hoping she likes them!!!

Wendy

I love them all! I almost bought that ice cream fabric for my nieces dress. Hancocks? I hope she adores them all they are perfect!!!!!

Man, everyone's been so busy!!! Lots to catch up on! So, the kids have been sickly last week and early this week. Today was payday and I needed some retail therapy, so of course I went fabric shopping!

Here are my finds:

Disney first - the red Mickey I got at Hancock, the purple Tink and friends is from Walmart and the Pooh and friends (they're catching fireflies - sooo cute!) is also from WalMart. No clue what to make out of any of it, but I NEEDED it!
fabric2.jpg

Non-Disney - The polka dots and bright green floral are from a local quilt shop. Not a clue what to make with it. The monkey I got at JoAnn because Ella LOOOOOOVES monkeys and it reminded me of candice's too cute monkey shower curtain dress. So it will likely be a dress of some sort. The green paisley I just liked, again no clue what I'm going to do with it. The ivory floral was on clearance at Hancock and will likely make a dress to go with these pants I made, but am not sure I really like or not.
rufflepants.jpg

They were much cuter in my head! Don't you hate that!

Anyway, I should go catch up on all the posts I've missed!

Great finds! I am thinking about making a purse with that red Mickey fabric. Hancks also had this red stick figure mickey minnie kissing fabric that I might use.

Sally I love you petti! :worship:

Okay, so I've been hanging with a summer cold since last night, I've had chills and sweats off and on all night and I was trying to take it easy today...

Delaney asked me the beginning of the week to make her bear, Vegas, a new outfit for the Teddy Bear picnic they are having at camp tomorrow. I take her out, we pick fabric, I ask her if she wants me to make her something to match, she says no, she'll wear the bear shirt she already has, great one less thing to make right? You know where this is going, right?

I finish the bear's outfit and she says "Vegas wants me to match her." :::THUD::: :faint: Sure she does, perhaps we should have thought about that on Tuesday when we got the other fabric, no? :scratchin Oh wait, I did bring this up and you looked at me like I had 9 heads. :headache: Free preschooler anyone?! The water work start  and I finally agree to attempt to make her a matching top, I was using CarlaC's simply sweet.

So this is what we ended up with...

DSCN2864-1.jpg

They don't match exactly, I wasn't using the cheap $1 80% poly blend gingham on her dress because it is a pain to work with, the bear's dress was bad enough. She decided when I said it was the purple or nothing that she'd live being a little different.

I'm going to head off to bed, I've taken some medicine and am waiting to zonk out.
:

They came out adorable! Isn't that always the way with kids.
Feel better!

Here's something I'm working on as I find time between other projects. It's taken longer than I liked to get to this point but now I just need to hem the bottom ruffle, add buttons and stitch the lining closed. Can you tell I'm still enjoying doing large scale appliqués? :lmao:

I also finished Tyler's Bart shorts for universal.

Your little ones are adorable! The outfits are perfect!
Well, in between getting everything on my list done, I got an e-mail from one of the kids' friend who is sick asking if I would make her some American Girl doll clothes so basically I stopped everything so I get them done before we leave tomorrow.

I started with a circle skirt, which the math failed me (stupid pi) and will barely go over Megan's hips so they will not fit the friend. So I put that away and started on the doll clothes. I tried to copy Denise's guitar shirt and my strings are crooked but the kids could tell it was supposed to be a guitar so that's good. :thumbsup2

IMG_0589.jpg

IMG_0590.jpg

I decided she needed a colored pencil roll up; I thought it might be helpful for when she has to go to the clinic.

IMG_0591.jpg

Then I found a leg from Megan's jeans that fit the doll perfectly. They are stretchy so all I did was hem the top and add a ribbon. Then I found a piece I cut off from pjs I made for myself that were too long: a perfect tube to shir. The straps velcro in the back. This is her hippie outfit:

IMG_0593.jpg

And last I made a 4th of July outfit with scraps. I used CarlaC's pattern and the only problem I have is it is difficult to get on. I hope the little girl can get it off and on ok.

IMG_0594.jpg

So that's my version of the big give, a little give I guess. :rotfl2:

Now I just have to take the kids to camp, pack, run the doll clothes to the friend, take the dog to the vet, stop the mail and then we're ready to go! Whew!
Very cute! I recognize that doll Nellie? Nikki has Nellie along with 5 more AG dolls that my mom just thought she had to have:rotfl: Gotta love MeMa's! (grandma::yes:: )

I have 2 VERY easy doll clothes books I got on amazon I can post the names of them if any one is interested. I can't remember off hand....

Minnie2, I would love to know the names of the books you got for doll clothes on Amazon, Delaney is really getting into the whole dressing dolls thing but she still has trouble doing it on her own sometimes.

I think one of the best things I ever got her was this Madeline rag doll and clothes for her, they are easy to put on, I wish they still made the doll, I got her at a consignment sale but I end up having to get clothes for her on eBay.

Lisa, do i have to tell you again how awesome you are and how amazed I am by everything you do and how envious I am of your tallent:worship: or are you sick of hearing it by now:laughing:

Steph:hug: I'm glad you are my friend. Travel safely and have a good trip.

Steph, she's such a cutie pie!!!!

Is this the little girl that has cancer? How is she doing?
Well, DS birthday is actually on the 4th of July, but DH has to travel for several weeks out west, and he's leaving on the 3rd. So we're planning a last minute trip June 29 - July 1st. (Canada Day is July 1st, DH has that off, and he's going to take off June 30 too!). Kind of a "I'm sorry I going away on your 6th b-day, and leaving Mummy all alone with two kids for days and days in the middle of the summer when we should all be camping" guilt -laden trip. :rotfl2:

Wish we could meet up though!!!

Is that Disney Princess ribbon??? How did I not know that existed??? Please tell me where you bought it - I'll add it to my list of must-buys while we're visiting the US!!!

SO close, so close, yet, so far.... :lmao: Have a great trip! I hope you find some fabulous fabric!

Are you just "winging it" with the AG clothes or following a pattern. I NEED to stop letting DD look at this site! Now she wants her Patty (one of those FP Little Mommy dolls) and Miss Claudia (her AG doll) to have matching clothes for the trip! :rotfl:

These bags are STUNNING!!!

I have this linked in the bookmarks, but here are what some of the different shanks look like:

Thank you, I am glad everyone likes the bags. I hope that Alicia and Isabelle like them. I have to get a box and then I will mail them off.

Thank you for posting the photos of the shanks.
I think I have a High shank because it is curved on the back.

Yes, that's Nellie. Poor Nellie has been neglected since Megan received her for Christmas. :( I was going to apologize for her disheveled hair, but that is against the rules.

I would love the names of the doll books. I bought a bunch of patterns when they were 99 cents from JoAnns but I seem to go back to CarlaC's from ycmt the most.

Steph:hug: I'm glad you are my friend. Travel safely and have a good trip.

Thanks, I am too! I'll call you when I get back so we can go shopping!

So cute Steph!! I can't believe you just whipped all that up right before you were going on vacation!!! :worship: Everything is adorable, including Megan!! Hi MEGAN!!! We love your shoes!!!!
Steph, she's such a cutie pie!!!!

Is this the little girl that has cancer? How is she doing?

1) Those shoes! We were in CVS yesterday getting yet another prescription filled for this sinus infection from heck that won't go away and we walked next door to Target and she found them on sale and had to have them. Actually, the first pair of sandals she found were high heeled flip flops and I said absolutely not! So these are the compromise: they are so gaudy they make me sick but she calls them her "fancy shoes."

2) Yes, this is for Lindsey who has leukemia. She is doing pretty well, she is on her last round of chemo before she starts the "maintenance treatment" which is supposed to be not as bad. Unfortunately, she got a blood clot in her brain and now she has to have injections of blood thinner each day while she is on the treatment (2 years). She is such a trooper though and told her mom she wanted to learn how to do the injections herself! So when she e-mailed me I just had to do it: I would have thought about her the entire trip if I hadn't.

Are you just "winging it" with the AG clothes or following a pattern. I NEED to stop letting DD look at this site! Now she wants her Patty (one of those FP Little Mommy dolls) and Miss Claudia (her AG doll) to have matching clothes for the trip! :rotfl:

For the peasant dress and jumper I used CarlaC's patterns from ycmt. I like them but they are a little difficult to get on the doll. I tried putting them on feet first and it was a lot easier. The skirt and tube top were just made from scraps that I improvised (I actually saw a AG skirt made from a jeans leg earlier, I can't remember who did that). They also have patterns in the fabric stores but they are a little bit more difficult than Carla's.

We have one of those Madeline dolls too along with a few books. They were my step dad's mom and when Nikki was about 4 he gave them to her with a not about how her great grammy loved Madeline etc... So now we have her Madeline books ! I love them! They Paddington set for Kyle but haven't given it to him yet. I adored my step grandmother so I LOVe that my kids have something from her.

Here is the amazon links to the books! They are great. i got them a few yrs ago they come with patterns and all.

OK! Maybe I lied. The waistband is not in the skirt yet. I got home much later than I anticipated, so it'll have to wait for tomorrow. But that's fine. But I thought I'd give you a sneak peak of the skirt that has given me such difficulty. This is the applique that finally did what I wanted it to do!
