Packed & Moved..Disboutiquers Part 6 Kids Disney Boutique / Customs Clothes we sew

Not open for further replies.
I know Sohappy sews for boys all the time but I made my first boy outfit today as a birthday gift for a friend's son. I lined the top with red fabric and it really feels nice! I just hope it fits...I tried to scale down a 4 to a smallerish 3. I did have a waist measurement so that helped. The little boy it's for went to Disney for the first time in March. He is a big Cars fan...hence the fabric:

Cute! I'm sure he'll love it!

Oh wow, this is just darling!!! I love how this turned out. I may need to go look at these book things a tad closer!! Hehe
Thanks

I did it! I sewed something other than pajama pants! I MADE A DRESS!!! :woohoo:

th_MinnieDress1-1.jpg
th_MinnieDress4-1.jpg

I can't believe I made that! I just want to sit and stare at it all day long. GOD BLESS YOU CARLA, for making a pattern even a lame-o sewing wannabe like me can follow! :worship: :worship: :worship:
That came out great!!!!

It came out great! Where did you get the fabric? I have been looking everywhere for it. All I can find is the princess one and nemo one.
I got all the fabric at JoAnn's. The book was prepackaged not on a bolt and the Mickey Mouse listed at $12.95 so be sure you have a coupon.

Does anyone have any ideas for patterns I could adapt to make Star Wars costumes? We are going to our first MNSSHP in September and my oldest DS loves Luke Skywalker. I wanted to sew something like this for him:
dlx_luke_skywalker.jpg

I was thinking that my two year old would make an adorable Yoda. He's very short and wise!
child_yoda_toddler.jpg

I'm thinking a bath robe for the Jedi robes and some sort of animal cpstume hood for Yoda but I don't have any great ideas!

Thanks for any ideas you all have!
Molly

I don't have any ideas but if you find out...let me know...DD wants to be Princess Leia! But I will need to modify it to short sleeves since we are going in Sept and it will be HOT!!

That's your first dress????:worship: WOW!!!! What pattern did you use and how did you get your gathers so even?????

These are kind of blurry, because the birds are so little and I have a bad camera. But here are the new babies and their parents. Four of the five eggs hatched. One got cracked and nothing was inside it.

Here are the babies. They are so tiny. Like an inch each.
S2010143.jpg

This is the mother. She is a white Zebra Finch. Her name is Snowflake.
S2010144.jpg

And this is the daddy. His name is Casanova and he is a regular Zebra Finch.
S2010145.jpg

Oh the babies are so cute! I used to have a bird that constantly laid eggs...but she didn't have a husband so to speak ;) It was so strange. So we had a collection of chickless eggs!

I finally have a photo to post...
This a top that Alexis will be wearing with a navy blue with white fluff petti. I was inspired by a top I saw on :wizard: last year. I bought the Disney cruise line jacket and hung on to it ever since.

Ignore the white petti...I think the Navy blue one will look a lot better..

We also had a visitor today in the yard. It was Harriet coming to say goodbye to big brother Franklin...(that's what the girls said)

This little turtle was about a quarter of the size that was in the yard the other day...and the girls found out the hard way, that sometimes turtles only defenses are it's...ca-ca and pee-pee...LOL...

Beautiful! LOL about the new turtle.

Yes..I've been putting home grown aloe on it every day..a few times a day. and it's just blistered on her forehead and nose a little..the rest is almost gone.. Alexis is still under the weather and she was in the hospital yesterday. The doc says it's just a virus, but boy did she get it bad..

glad your dd sunburn is getting better and so sorry about you other dd! i hope she feels better. It is no fun having sick kids.

WE'RE BACK!!!! :worried:

Wish I could be totally happy...but I already miss the place! I will have tons of stuff to share later...but now...I must rest! I did want to share one of my favorite photos.

She was soooo happy and recieved lots of attention for her outfit!

More tomorrow after I catch up!

Welcome back! Great picture.

MY BIG GIVE OUTFIT

Right now, it is just pinned in the back. I put button holes on the back so that they can adjust the straps to the right length. I don't have my little model here to try it on (nor do I think that HE would cooperate).

So pretty!!!!

I've been working on this for far too long this weekend. I made a few VERY time consuming mistakes on it. It takes so long to rip stuff out. Then I wanted to make the top long enough as my DD(5) doesn't like the waist band at her waist. The first top I made her a few months ago I made too short so I didn't want to make that mistake again and made this one a few inches too long-its a bit snug on the hips. Good thing I made it so that the side seams are not sewn on the red dot trim of the top.

I wish I had added a strip that was ungathered to the top of the book panels so it was easier to see them.

I made the top with a size 6 Simply Sweet and used a size 3 straps and they still seem a bit too long.

I would think this is the front of the top but DD likes the Pluto side better.

Looks great I love the material. My ds 5 loves Mickey's club house

I have seen patterns for free online for the Jedi robe maybe you can adapt that? Or maybe look for a pattern for a Karate gee? That is what it looks like to me.

These are kind of blurry, because the birds are so little and I have a bad camera. But here are the new babies and their parents. Four of the five eggs hatched. One got cracked and nothing was inside it.

The dress looks great!

Congrats to the mommy and daddy birds.

I am SO bummed! Last night I was making my nieces dress and it was coming out wonderful and I was so excited to finish it ad my sewing machine died! the lower bobbin isn't treading at all! I re treaded it many times. Took it apart and cleaned it ad shut it on and off and prayed it would just start working again. No dice it is toast! The worst part is DH is being a butt about me getting a new one!!!!! I am not looking for a fancy one I just want one like I had. UGH! I just got ack into this and am addicted and now I have projects I can't finish I am so depressed  :sad2: :sad1:

scratch my vent before! I took my machine apart again and no clue what i did but I got it to work. Please keep your fingers crossed that I at the very least can keep it working to finish my nieces dress!

Here are my finished outfits for the girls. I tried to get some cute pics but Katie has way too much attitude today.

Wendy

Love the shirts! Did you get those from the disigns board? I want to make some for myslef, dh and dd13 since we won't be wearing tons of customs. DD13 does want a tinkerbelle skirt and we are all wearing a mickey top I plan to make. the shirts are cute!

I got DD's Wall-e dress done and i think the shirring came out pretty good:

th_DSCF0023.jpg
th_DSCF0024.jpg
th_DSCF0025.jpg

You did a great job on the shirring. I am still not ready to try that! The wall-e dress is cute! I am in the midst of cutting the fabric to make the dress. I only have 4 days left till the premiere!

This first one was a practice. I pieced together a commercial pattern and followed another from TJ's bookmarks to put the pocket and hood on.

It's reallt not crooked, he's just wearing it that way:confused3

Here's the one for our cruise...

Great Job! I love seeing some of those boy's outfits! I don't have any, but want to make some for a neighbor!

Gotta be quick, DH is in a hurry to get home... well it IS like 1 am...

BUT here are the completed Togs.

This last one came out too big. Little is kinda between a 2 nad 3 and I made this top in a 3 and it didn't really work out. The pics of it don't really show the capris and make the top look longer than it is. I am probably not listing this right now, I don't have an even half way decent pic. I also listed the round necked beach dress.

I finally finished them and I got more inspiration on a recent fabric shopping trip. I hope to have a few more funky/punky things coming soon. These aren't on the site yet, I just e-mailed them to her, I expect they will be up soon. YAY, me!! I'm so excited.
But I gotta go B is getting anxious to leave.

...t.

Love all the outfits! You do great work! And never too much lilys! Love, LOVE that last one. The colors are so great!

Here is the Wall E dress I made yesterday for my Wall E obsessed niece. She just woke up from a nap and wasn't in a picture posing mood :rotfl:

th_IMG_0753-1.jpg

Love it! I am using the same pattern. We are doing yellow/white dot material as the coordinating material. I hope I get it done either today or tomorrow!

HAPPY BDAY!!!!!!

Here's two more things that I completed yesterday and today.

For Michael:

th_skulls.jpg

I wish I had a better pic of this b/c I really liked how it turned out. The only thing that I don't like about it is that his shirt is too long for my taste. I'm going to cut it off and re-hem it.

This set is for one of Parker's friends. Her b'day was last week but we were out of town for her party. We will be seeing her tomorrow, I just hope it fits.

th_mairin.jpg

Michale's outfit is neat! Love the top. I would also cut it a little, but I am one for shorter tops!

I made this top for our (hopefully!!!! ) trip... I wanted something "Minnie like" but adult version, what do you guys think??? can I wear this without looking ridiculous,??? I also made white Capri's and navy blue short skirt to wear with this

Linette, Not only do I love it, but I want one! I have to much to make for dds and not enough time for me!!!!

I finally have a photo to post...

MY BIG GIVE OUTFIT

That is so pretty! I love the color combinations!

And a few other things-

an outfit for a friend's daughter
th_IMG_2465.jpg

th_IMG_2467.jpg

She wanted a ribbon halter style and lots of Belle. I don't want to bore you with all the patchwork skirts, but that is the only "girly" pattern I have. Everything else is boy stuff.

Here are the boys' 4th outfits inspired by 2cutekids. NOTE- I DID NOT PICK OUT THE FABRIC- that is what I get for taking them to the store with me!
th_IMG_2470.jpg

th_IMG_2471.jpg

One final thing- for those that have made the bowling shirts, how do the sizes run? Looking at my kids sizes, Cooper should be 18 months and Jackson should be 3t-4t. Now, my kids are teeny, but I don't want to make it too small. Right now, I plan to make a 3t-4t and see who it would fit. If it fits Jackson, I will downsize for Coops. If it fits Coops, I will upsize for J.

The Belle dress came out great! Another one with great colors! And the 4th outfits are cute! My kids love to pick out fabric, but I try to give them few choices! Try.....

Hmm- I had been wondering about making pants with them - what do you think? I am askeered to make a bowling shirt!!! where does everyone get that sweatshirt looking pattern from????? would that work at all???? My Tim is just crushed when I make things for his sisters and not him - lol!! What a sweetie - Today in church all 3 of the little kids were wearing outfits I had made them, and the 2 big kids were wearing the tie dyed camp promise tshirts I had made them for our trip next week - i was thrilled!!!

I think it would be pretty easy to make pants with them. Or shorts. You could probably use any pants pattern or there's a tutorial on Martha Stewart's website for making bandana pants. It may be in Teresa's bookmarks, if not I have it somewhere. I'm not sure where the hoodie pattern is from, but I think it would work great too.

I have some more pics for you all. The monkey outfit with the circle neck, I made today. I used Carla's pant pattern for the shorts
th_IrelandandLexieChristmas20072420.jpg

Now this outfit...I don't like. I don't like the way it fits..too blousy in the middle..poor lex looks pregnant. It's the bubble top with the skort. I don't like either pattern and will not be using them again...:(
th_IrelandandLexieChristmas20072422.jpg
th_IrelandandLexieChristmas20072423.jpg
th_IrelandandLexieChristmas20072424.jpg

Lex was doing the twist...LOL. The only positive thing about the skirt pattern was the way the shorts connected..it was a neat and time saving idea. Otherwise..nah..not for me.

Love the circle neck outfit. I saw the second pattern on YCMT but wasn't quite sure about it. Looks a little poofy, but I like the bottoms! The colors looks great!

Amazing Stuff posted today!!! I just love Linette's Minnie top and SoHappy's Big Give and Elisa's Captain top. Just inspiring and awesome Ladies!!!! :cool1:

You did a great job! That pattern is easy, but not that easy! Especially with all the gathering! Now you are ready to tackle anything!

I am finally caught up! I always get behind on the weekends. DH likes to spend time with me and not the puter! We did do our first family theme night as we prepare for our next trip! We did Peter PAn night and had pirate ship pizzas, fruit on a sword, made pirate hats, went on a treasure hunt and watched Peter Pan! Next week it will be Snow WHite night!

Here's two more things that I completed yesterday and today.

very cute! You've been busy. I have some flamingo fabric I need to do something with.

We have a version of this one too! My daughter wore it to her Daddy's retirement dinner, and then again to her big brothers talent show. I plan on her wearing it to a huge party at my sisters country club for the Fourth of July. We will try out the navy colored petti then because I am a wee bit intimidated by her being outside for the fireworks and wearing all white!!

Oh and excuse the white slip. That is what I paired it with for pictures before our white petti arrived!!

Does anyone have any ideas for patterns I could adapt to make Star Wars costumes? We are going to our first MNSSHP in September and my oldest DS loves Luke Skywalker. I wanted to sew something like this for him:

I was thinking that my two year old would make an adorable Yoda. He's very short and wise!

Very cute! I can't wait to do the Jedi training camp with my son! He did it with his aunts in MArch but I want to see him do it!

This was a star wars pattern from either simplicity or Butterick.. I don't remember off hand, I can find out. The boots were a popular style of Airwalk boots at Payless at the time (for girls) they are suede w/ straps all over them, you can't really tell in the picture- I got them at goodwill w/ the tags on them for 4 bucks!!. I tried to get the best one I could of his feet but it was dark so they blend into almost all the pictures. If your son is a 7-8 I would be glad to share this costume. Mac wore it twice, once at MNSSHP then on Halloween night. I know he won't ever wear it again and I doubt that my nephew will.

See Tinkerbell in the window (ok, maybe it's the flash....I'm going for magic here people!)

Why, yes, that IS Tarzan's thigh.
