hey again everyone. I've been missing you all so much. What great creations we have come up with while i've been down and out. Im finally to the point where I can sit for a lil while at the computer chair and not be in great pain. I can't possibally catch up with all of you. I go to the doctor 2morrow to look at my incision to see when I can drive, and do house work again. It has been 2 weeks, and my laundry is tremendous. I still am not to the point where I can bend over and pin, and sew so we'll ahve to wait for any creations from me. Thanks for the prayers.

It's good to hear from you! Take it easy until you feel better. The laundry will ALWAYS be there!

 So I see a lot of appliqued jeans on ****. Can anyone tell me do these guys open the hem on the jeans or how is it that they are doing it. Just ironing on with Steam a Seam?

Oh, no...they are most definitely opening up the seams...these girls are BANANAS like that!!!:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

It is easiest to open the seam. I open the seam that is NOT topstitched. It differs with manufacturers whether or not is the inseam or outseam. Rip open the seam, do the applique, stitch back and then finish like you would any other seam.

But then how do they sew the bottom back and have it look right? The pair I have in my hand now are sewn down the sides first then the bottom is folded under and sewn there. I am so confused:confused:

Does anyone know if there is a JoAnn's coupon for this week?

I had the one that expired on Saturday but I my SIL is wanting some kid's furniture from there and we would rather use the coupon on it. The cashier said that they had one but I didn't see one online (but I could have looked over it) and I didn't have on in my mailbox either.

These are good this week. When I went today they also had fliers in the store (which was good because I didn't have mine with me since I didn't expect to get to go).

I sometimes won't open up the bottom hem, but will open everything else. It depends on the size and the brand and what I am doing as to whether or not I can make it work.

Okay well I will have to hunt for some that I can open the inseam on incase it looks retarded when I am done.

Has anyone tried the YCMT How to Make a One-Piece Swimsuit pattern? I was looking for a leotard pattern and came across this. It only has one review and the lady did use it as a leo pattern. But it runs so small. I was hoping for a wider range of sizes.

Anyone have this? Pros? Cons?

THANKS!
Chantell

It's really easy, if I can do it, you can! :rotfl2:

And, I cut the hem off and add a ruffle so I don't have to worry about what the hem looks like!

My husband's grandmother knit that sleeper about 28 yrs ago for a family friend when they had their first baby girl. Five years ago, when the friend heard we were expecting for the first time, she dug out the sleeper and gave it to us. Each of our children has worn it to come home from the hospital.
Bryce was very close to his grandmother so it's extra special to us. Grandma passed away about 12 yrs ago but we have several things she knitted for our babies, years before my dh and I ever met. She left him a box full of little things she had handmade, each with a label in her own handwriting, for the great-grandchild she knew she would never meet.
Many thanks for all the congratulations and the compliments on Adara's name.
Her middle names are taken from two of her great-grandmothers. Hazel was dh's grandma -the knitter- and Antonina was my grandma.
Oh my goodness!! She is GORGEOUS!!!! Wow, a truly beautiful baby!
The story about your DH's Grandma made me cry. What a sweetheart she must have been.

VERY cute, Steph! I was a little worried when I read that you made Jacob a matching shirt. For some reason I pictures a be-starred peasant top for him. :rotfl2: So relieved that it's a really cool t-shirt instead! :thumbsup2

I LOVE the haircut and the outfit is GREAT! She is such a little cutie!

Wow! That is so good, especially for a beginner! You're a brave woman to start with an outfit that zips. Way to jump right in! Your daughter is SOOO pretty!

I'm an auntie (again but if never gets old!). She doesn't have a name yet  but she sounds good! Daddy put her up to the phone and said "say Hi to Auntie Kristine" and she let out a good yell! :thumbsup2 That's my girl!!! Poor mom has been in labor for 22 hours and pushed for over 4 hours!!!
CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!

Those are some really cool shorts! I especially like the Star Wars ones!

I posted this over on the crafts but, thought you all might want to check it out. They look super easy to make. It would make good totes for water parks or well all kinds of things. You ladies and guys are creative. I am thinking WDW bags, Disney store bags (it's been so long I forget what they look like etc.
That is SUCH a cool idea! I still have some Disney bags from our trip. This sounds like a fun project!

My youngest brother was in a really bad motorcylce wreck about 3 weeks ago. He has crushed his wrist and ankle. They have told him he will be lucky if he gets 95% usage back in his foot. They have finally moved him over to rehab, but it will be a slow recovery. He has no income right now and wants to move in with mom, but I am not sure if my father can handle it. He has very bad pain from the neuropathy in his feet caused my diabetes. Hopefully he can stay with one of our other brothers. (I have 3)
Oh no, I'll add your brother to my prayers. Henry was in a bad motorcycle accident when we were 20 years old (we'd been married a year). It was so scary, but he has made a full recovery. No more motorcycles for him! I hope your brother feels the same way.

Ok, sorry, I took off for a while, and I'm just now getting back to this. I didn't even think about the bottom hem, because I always do like Sue does, I add a ruffle. Cut the bottom hem right off, rip open the seam, do whatever work I'm gonna do, add the ruffle, and sew them back up. If you're working with toddler sized jeans, you can buy the snap open inseam kind. But if you're using regular jeans... well... the ruffle works really well!

I saw this in a magazine this week, not sure which one now. Thought it was a little different, but they just showed you making a plastic bag with all kinds of different colors. These were much cuter and different!
I think it was Family Fun.

I hope your brother is ok.

Totally OT but Thank you (and everyone else). My friends death has been a horrible shock. Babies are doing okay. Poor dad was one of those guys who had never cooked a meal/given a bath!!! But he's learning. Currently, everyone is doing okay. First couple of days were rough (baby was solely nursed and the 3 yr old...who may be autistic...just wandered around yelling "mom"). Baby had a rough transition to formula/bottle (we couldn't even put stored breast milk in it because mom died of pneumonia and the CDC called and told us to toss any stored milk cuz it could have passed). Okay seriously...that's the end of my sad story for today (this is a board about the Happiest Place on Earth for cryin' out loud)! The important thing is that they are doing ok!

I'm so sorry about your friend. How long ago was it?

Since we are celebrating their birthdays can I get the boys "it's my birthday" buttons or is it just wrong???

..t.

Nah, not wrong, go for it!
Also I am thinking about taking the leap into the world of the ruffler....my question is how do I determine how long of a strip to make for this particular thing. In other words if I start out with 20 inches (just for s&g as I know that is no where near enough) what will I end up with and will I always end up with that same length if I always have my ruffler set to the same notch? Thank you so much.

Yesterday a.m. I noticed my DD3 had the most swollen little ankle. Couldn't even see the bone on the outside of the ankle it was so swollen. (Now as a backdrop...from the time she was about a year til about 2 or 2.5 she had nothing but problems. She had impentiago on her legs which in one spot turned into cellulitis (pardon the spelling) had probably 4 boils at different times around the line that her diaper touched the skin, every time she got a little scratch she was sure to have a lovely infection and either more cellulitis or another boil) So I see this bite on her ankle which is not even touching the discolored area and I think well is it related or no. Because around the swollen area it was HOT and there was also some bruising. So I drive her an hour away to a differnt DR because hers is booked and he says "is she complaining of anything else" I say "no why?" he says" She has a bad ear infection and what looks to be strep starting in her throat" I could not believe it. Still at this point you would never know this child has a thing wrong. I guess the swelling came from the bite but still have no clue what got her. Just can't believe it. This is the 4th time she has had this happen that we end up at the dr only to find she has something else going on with not one symptom. I think she must have the highest tolerance for pain of all of my monkeys.

You need to download CarlaC's free ruffler foot tutorial, it explains everything! It's free on YCMT.

I hope your daughter is doing better! Poor little thing! Poor Mommy too!

98Happy- When I do Applique Jeans I rip everything but the bottom hem open. Then zigzag the side seam after I sew it closed. Hope that helps!!

We went to the zoo today! I made Sawyer and Tessa matching Go Diego Go shirts for the occasion. Tessa's is CarlaC's Simply Sweet dress, with a stripwork skirt attached. I was going to make it a dress, but decided to do a long shirt after she ripped her 3rd dress this month from crawling on it. :headache: Sawyer's is CarlaC's new bowling shirt pattern.

Here's Sawyer. He was sitting by some goats, but I tried to crop them out for YCMT.
