Wow, that queen of hearts dress is gorgeous! I love all the polka dots and your applique is flawless. Alice is cute too, maybe teacups on the apron instead of the white rabbit? I saw a cute one on-line with teacups along the bottom of the apron and it was adorable.

Wow, that is great! Your son is so handsome.

I usually use those fancy buttons for scrapbooking, not sewing! :rotfl: Your nemo shirts came out great and I love the round neck one for you.

Thanks for all the well-wishes everyone...she is all better and back to driving me crazy :rotfl:

That's her job, lol! Glad she is feeling better.

My Joann's has the purple minnie pre-shirred. Joann.com was sold out the last time I looked. As someone else posted, wal-mart has several cute disney and non-disney pre-shirred prints.

Everyone's stuff is so cute as always. MickeyJen, did you use a pattern for the queen of hears dress?

I finally got some pictures uploaded to photobucket, so I have some things to share!

DS(6) is in Alice in Wonderland this weekend, so I made two outfits for DD (4) to wear when we go see it...

I'd like to put a white rabbit applique on the apron, but I am really not happy with the test stitch out... We'll see...

I plan to add two more rows of elastic to the back tonight - I'm hoping it will help it fit a little better. It also turned out a smidge longer than I was hoping for, but its okay...

Yeah I made it:banana:

Now down to business.

Wow!!! That is awesome:) There are so many lucky little ones getting to wear all of the beautiful stuff displayed on here. I have some steam a seam to try to make one (applique) for an upcoming trip...got any tips?

Thank you everyone for helping with my cries for help! This board is just full of awesome people. I can't respond to any of the messages yet it said I didn't have enough posts. But the scalloped part is where I thought I was going to have a problem but to think it is a two layer skirt that scares me:scared1: :scared1: :scared1: I thought it was just sewn as one layer. I guess now I just feel like I don't know where to begin. It is the one with the matching jewelry.

Do you have a pattern to follow? I wish I were talented enought to make clothes without a pattern, but I can not. Look on YCMT (link in first post's bookmarks) and see if any skirts match. In my experiance, those patterns look hard but turn out to come together easily.

CarlaC's Scallopini skirt pattern is very similar to this. The scallops are smaller, but I think it would turn out very cute!

There is also a tutorial for making a scalloped skirt in the bookmarks, if you want to try to do it yourself.

Yeah I made it:banana:

Check out Heather's applique tutorial in the bookmarks, it's the best one around, and it free! :thumbsup2

I have always sewn by eye. But now that I am trying to make clothes I have had to learn how to read a pattern. WOAH! That was not easy for me. I was going to just wing it based on some purchased skirts she already has (measurements) but then it was brought to my attention that it is probably 2 layer which twists things a little for me. But I am going to that website now to look at the patterns. Thank you so much!

If you go to DisBoutique thread 5...toward the end I showed a dress with a teal tink preshirred fabric too. If anyone wants me to pick some up for them...let me know. My JoAnns has tons of preshirred fabric...including tink, minnie, and princess.

Thanks so much! I'm heading to the USA for some shopping on Sunday, we have lots of places to go to, so I have to plan my route accordingly. If they don't have it at my Walmart here in Canada, I'll have to check one in Buffalo.

My Walmart had 3 different ones...this Tink, a pink princess one and the Little Mermaid that princesskayla used as a top a few pages back. There is also a purple Minnie one that a few people used but I have not seen. Tnkrbelle565 showed it 2-3 pages back as a dress. HTH!

Here's hoping that I can find the Minnie Dot . . .

My Joann's has the purple minnie pre-shirred. Joann.com was sold out the last time I looked. As someone else posted, wal-mart has several cute disney and non-disney pre-shirred prints.

I can't seem to find it on the Joann website - is it listed as a pre-shirred??

Well, I'm off to buy thread today - then ballet recitals tomorrow, lots of glitter to apply. I will try to post photos tonight of the few things I've made recently.

I've been having to skip a lot lately and I've missed you ladies!!!

Today is Sawyer's 2nd birthday!! I know it's been said a million times before, but I can't believe how fast the time goes!! In honor of his birthday, I'm going to post some baby photos:

Here he is in-utero. Yes, that's his foot on his head:

All right, that's enough. I think I'm going to cry. ;)

Oh my gosh...SOOOO adorable!!! Okay, where's Luke's puppy? ;) :lmao:

WOW!!!! These are FABulous!!!!! Great job!!!!!

WOW!!! YOU are good!!

You even sew for yourself? :worship:

I have a question for you experienced ladies. When a pattern calls for 'rick rack' can I use ribbon?

Also with bias tape is there any other option to use?

Yep, you could use ribbon instead, in most cases. I don't know about a substitute for bias tape. If it's at the hem at the bottom of a skirt or something, you could just do a regular hem and not use the bias tape.

these are both GREAT! I love the queen of hearts! I have that design and I've not stitched it out yet. What problems are you having with the rabbit? I've not stitched it out yet either. I'm wondering if I should test it.

I was going to suggest CarlaC's scalloppini skirt as well. I think that will give you the result you're looking for.

I am sooo happy to say that my little Rylie is allll better! She has been her happy go lucky little self for the past 2 days and I am LOVING it! I was really worried about her, so I am just sooo relieved that she is better! Thank you to EVERYONE who sent prayers and good thoughts our way! I know I have missed sooo many cute things:( but I just can't keep up with you guys!!!!!:moped: I was wondering if anyone has tried the new flouncy dress pattern from ycmt? It looks sooo cute!!! I, of course, do not know why I am looking at this site? We are sooo on a tight budget right know that it is not even funny! They have drastically cut my dh hours at work and he told me today that his company might be selling out! I don't know what that would mean as far as my dh even having a job or not, which is pretty scary!:faint: Any way, sorry for the vent, but I am just praying that everything works out and I can eventually get back to normal! I want that pattern and also want Carla's patchwork skirt pattern! those two will be first on my list when I get off restriction!
I am glad Rylie is feeling better. I hope everything works out with your DH"s job.
We brought our baby home today! :lovestruc She's not used to grass and she loves rolling around on the lawn.
IMG_0730.jpg

so far she is SOOOOOO good! I'm knocking on all the wood I can find, I know puppies aren't easy, but she is an angel so far. She gets tired and goes and sleeps in her crate. She has so far only "pottied" when we've had her outside. She is breaking my heart though. We bought her a little doggy teddy bear and I took it when we picked her up and rubbed it on her mommy's fur to get her scent, and Izzy (her name is Sunny Isabella but we call her Izzy, except Lily who calls her Belle--it's a princess thing I think, she can say Izzy just fine) anyhoo, Izzy can totally smell her mama and is using the bear as a pillow.
Congratulations on the new puppy. She is adorable!!
So I posted before we are taking a trip to WDW in Sept...one of the days we are doing lunch with JoJo, Goliath, and the Little Einsteins. I found a resell on eBay, unfortunately I can't afford to buy that so I am going to attempt to make it myself. It is a tanktop with JoJo appliqued on and a skirt with the big top and Goliath. It is an absolutely adorable outfit. But since I am a self-taught I don't exactly know how to do a certain part of it. Am I allowed to post a picture of it for help purposes? I don't know who the original artist is to ask for permission because it was listed as a resell. I would even bet that the artist is a member of this family. I bought most of the fabric for the skirt today, I have everything I need to do the JoJo applique I am just so intimidated to get started because of this. I am also wondering about doing maybe a pair of shorts or capris, my daughter insists on wearing shorts under her dresses and skirts. Tell me what you think
I just wanted to add another :thumbsup2 for the Carla C scallopini skirt. Her patterns are easy to follow and you can do it!! Good Luck and I can't wait to see a picture.
made myself 3 tops and a pair of capri pants for my august trip

These are adorable. Was the Queen of Hearts Applique difficult? How did you do it? Is it a design you buy from an embroidery website?
Here's my boy's answer for the "big face" shirt! DS really likes it! It is a western style shirt...
Mater.jpg
Materbackcu.jpg

I forgot to add my Nemos! I made a button down shirt for DS... this is a close-up of the fish buttons he made me use... I will NOT be buying anymore buttons with shanks. I really did not enjoy sewing them on! :headache:
nemofishbuttons.jpg

And I made my DD a round neck top with the same fabric, but I couldn't get her to model it and didn't get a pic before it was in the laundry (and I'm not pulling it out to iron it before its washed! ) It looks just like this one I made for me though... I have been wanting to do a top like this for me, but couldn't find a pattern, so I made my own and basically used the directions for DD's round neck pattern (YCMT). Mine doesn't have buttons at the shoulders though. When I make this with "real" fabric for me (I have some Michael Miller Ginger Blossom I want to use), I will do a couple of things differently so hopefully it won't look quite so muu-muu in the front...
blurry2-1.jpg

I apologize it isn't quite in focus... my photographer is 6!
I love the Cars shirt. Mater is both of my kids favorite character from that movie. What a great job! Is the Mater a Pillowcase? I really like the Nemo shirts too!

I think now might be a good time to break out the    Happy happy! :hyper:

OMg what a cute puppy! I am such a sucker for dogs! I am so glad she is being a good girl. Our little boy now 10 was like that he was a dream dog still is. then we got little miss Princess Daisy Mae!:rotfl2: She will be 2 in a few weeks and we like to cal her Devil dog! :lmao: i adore her though. Well not right now she had me up at 4 am to take her poty so my old man had to go too. then at 5 am she whined until I got up and feed her then 6 am my dd woke me up for breakfast! Calgone take me away!:confused3

I have a question for you experienced ladies. When a pattern calls for 'rick rack' can I use ribbon?

I've just done a regular hem before now, or you could fold ribbon in half, or if you're feeling really ambitious make your own bias tape (quite time consuming i've heard but never tried it myself!)

Scalloped hems aren't so bad as long as you mark carefully so that they stay even :) This was my first attempt:
2542110284_31b630c1f8.jpg

2542109984_8f474f3915.jpg

It's a 2 layer skirt and I used some white cotton against the right side of the blue fabric and marked my semi-circles then stitched them, trimmed the excess fabric and then turned and pressed :) I also did top-stitching but it's not necessary. HTH!

So cute! Maybe if I keep telling myself i'm not feeling broody then i'll eventually be convinced..! :bitelip: :lovestruc
:bday: Sawyer! It is also my sister's birthday today, she's 19 (how did that happen?! *lol*)

I know exactly what set you are talking about. It was adorable!! I think it is a farbenmix pattern called Insa. There are some raelly great directions on applique in the bookarks on the first page.
