Perfect resort to pair with the Grand Floridian

I am not sure if anyone has suggested this one and its not a moderate resort nor is it a Disney resort ...but the Swan or Dolphin. We have stayed there only once with a split stay at the Contemporary. I believe the price is comparable to a moderate. They have a lovely pool, plus you will get all the perks as a deluxe resort and the convenience factor!! Whatever you decide you will have a wonderful time:) Marla

Since Animal Kingdom and Magic Kingdom are the 2 resorts you'll be visiting while staying in a Moderate, I would avoid Caribbean Beach Resort. The skyliner won't be a help to you and the resort is crazy huge although themed really well.

Of the 3 that are left, you have Riverside/French Quarter and Coronado Springs.

I would choose either Riverside or French Quarter to use the boats to Disney Springs on that rest day.

Further narrowing I would choose French Quarter because it's beautifully compact and it has beignets and Scat Cat Lounge.

If you had a younger child I would argue for Caribbean Beach or French Quarter or a Tiana room at Port Orleans Riverside. Nah, I’ll go ahead and make the argument anyway. 😀 The theming at those resorts is just so great and makes it more than a hotel! Caribbean is very spread out, but I have never minded that, and the tropical beach vibes there put me in vacay mode instantly. The pools at these resorts have excellent theming, too, but with one teen in tow she might prefer something more subdued like Coronado. You know your child.

Since you won’t be visiting Epcot or HS from the moderate (that was my understanding from your response?) the Skyliner is no benefit. When it comes to bus transportation, Port Orleans French Quarter is the way to go as it has the least bus stops of any of the Mods. It also has a nice boat ride to Disney Springs.

I think my ultimate vote would indeed be for French Quarter. It’s charming and compact, it is often seen as a more “adult” resort which might appeal to your daughter, transportation is good, and it has Mickey beignets! 😋 Plus you can use both the French Quarter and the Riverside pool when you stay there, giving you some variety. I love both of those pools!
I was reading this thread for tips for our trip as well. We’ve been many times but have never stayed on property at any resorts that were not DVC. After so many recommendations for Coronado Springs, that was they way I figured I’d go until I saw Mickey beignets! No question it’ll be French Quarter now.

As someone who’s stayed there and had them, those beignets have to be the most overrated food item on property, and I would not give up the dining slate (or the superior feature pool) at CSR for them tbqh. If you want them that badly just pop over there on the boat from DS.
