Thanks for the nice comment on the watermellon outfit - I gues what I dont like is seeing all the skin by the armpit/shoulder area - do you think maybe I spaced the panel in too small of an area? or maybe didnt put the buttons back far enough to kind of close up that gap??? Like the one that Lexie was wearing yesterday was so cute!! I cant figure it out - its kinda tricky for me to sew for the kids when they arent here for me to try and dry fit or measure, you know?

Mrs MeKenna - I feel so bad for you guys - we were considering possibly doing foster to adopt, but now Im not too sure, it might be too much of a rollercoaster for me -I fall in love with just about any kid!!

Only 5 more days till we leave for Camp Promise!!!

thanks, Wendy

First, I don't think it looks all that bad but when I look at it compared to the photos of the pattern the top looks a bit big on her to me. I don't know but maybe it would help to move the button to make the neck smaller so that the neck wouldn't gap in the front and pull the shirt up higher on her armpits??? BUT....I honestly think it looks cute as it.

I bought a McCall's round neck pattern for my DD(9) and the pattern has a 16" zipper in the back.:scared1: The zipper goes through the round neck, the bodice, and the skirt of the dress and I want to use all different fabrics for those parts. I think I'm going to try to alter the round neck to make it button so I don't have to do a zipper. I'll save that project for a day when I feel brave.

Had to post my newest addition.

Have some cute material for Disney in September. Now if he will just grow, that way the rompers will fit.
He is just too cute!!

Just and everyday outfit, but DD loves it b/c it is princess. She wants to wear it to bible school tomorrow.
That is very cute for just everyday wear.

Hi Everyone,

Here is Abby in the watermelon outfit I made her. I used some peoples suggestion about 1 button on the shoulder, and found watermelon buttons to use there!!
abbymelon.jpg

abbymelon2.jpg

I used the 4/5 size for her - do you think i should have bumped her up a size for the round neck part? does it not cover the shoulders enough???? thoughts??? thanks!!

wendy
That outfit turned out so cute.

Oh that's sounds like heaven. I got sick of the meltdowns that went along with this hair
beforehaircut.jpg

SOOOO, I cut it all off!!! But you can see from my recent posts, it's already passed her shoulders again!!! I can't wait to get back from BBB so I can cut it again! Mornings were so enjoyable when it was this length.
afterhaircut.jpg
You have a pretty little girl. I have to keep Jenna's hair short too.

Here is the top that I asked the question about a page or two back.

th_ladybugoutfittop.jpg

The gathers are not what I thought they would be but it is a sweet top.

Here is the close-up of my ladybug applique.

th_ladybugoutfit1.jpg

I was contemplating put another ladybug on the "peek" of the skirt but since the applique on the bodice doesn't show on the inside (the top is lined and I did the ladybug before attaching the two pieces) I'm afraid it will look weird with just one showing on the inside of the garment.

I plan on making shorts to go with this top and possibly putting a ladybug on one of the legs of the shorts.
That top turned out really cute. I like the way that the front of the skirt is.

Sorry I have not been on much. Things at our house have not been wonderful. :( The adoption fell through and we have decided we are done with fostering and CPS. We are going to hopefully try IVF or some form of it next year, we are still looking at the specifics of it all including the cost.

Anyway I have moved my kiddos around and we have an extra room now that we only have intentions of trying once and even if the outcome is multiples we would put them in the same room. So I will for at least now have a sewing/ craft room! YA first for me to have enough room! For those of you that have a sewing/craft room what color did you paint it? I am trying to decide on something inspirational :) Any ideas? This is the room I am going to put a long work table along the wall where DD is sitting on the bed. And the shelves will hold my fabric and notions. DH wants to put a peg board on the wall for me to hang ribbon etc. My sewing machine will go smack in the middle of the shelved wall.

I'm so sorry to hear that the adoption did not work out. I hope that the IVF works for you.

I know that the circle is supposed to be red, but there isn't much/any red on the fabric and I though it would look weird. I think that I am going to make black shorts. This shirt is for Jackson. The 3-4 will fit him perfectly. I will make the smaller size for Coops. I think that Cooper will have a black stripe so that Wall-e shows up a bit better. I will make Coops yellow shorts, maybe. I don't know.
That shirt if TDF!!! I love it.

This is the project that I was working on for Father's Day. I gave it to DH on FD, and he loves it!

You have been super busy. I love the t-shirt top. The un-finished bottom is too cute too.

The dress turned out great! I'm sure she'll love it! Your kids are so adorable! I love your sons big cheesy grin!

thanks! I really do hope they like the dress. I love it and it just reminds me of her. Her dad is from India so she has got darker skin and these killer huge brown eyes that i think will just be great in the dress.

Thanks for the compliment on my son he is a ham!

LOVE the sweet little baby snuggle! ALMOST I said ALMOST makes me want to have another.

Has anyone made anything with this Butterick Pattern?

B5020.jpg

I am making view C with the straps from View A -- I have finished the top and the skirt and I'm ready to put them together. But when I was pinning the two together for gathering, there isn't anything to gather in the back.:confused3 I read the back of the pattern and it says: Tops A, C, D and dress B have front princess seams, self-lined upper front, back elastic casing and gathered lower front. Is it saying that only the front is gathered and the back is not????

Another thing that has me confused about it is: if it is not gathered in the back then why does the picture of the back show some gathering?

B5020a.gif

Any advice?

I love that pattern! I am no pattern expert at all but the butterick patterns confused the heck out of me! That is what i used for my nieces dress and honestly for most of it i just did what i wanted and hoped for the best. I can't wait to see what it looks like!

I am speechless! i love that so much! Nikki has a lot of black and white stuff with lady bugs that my mom buys her. Since my mom loves black and white. then for some reason she always ends up with lady bug things. too. I simply love it! I can't wait to see the shorts!

I have to ask would you mind if I borrowed that color palette/ idea to make my dd something. No clue what but I simply just see my dd in something like that. If you say no I will totally understand since it is your creation. I wouldn't want to take it from you.

they all came out perfect!

Sorry about all the posts yesterday i lost some and forgot what I wanted to say if i didn't do my posts a page at a time. Please forgive me!

QUESTION

when you make your outfits do you all zig zag all the edges of the cut material? I started doing that with my niece's dress and I did it with the pieces of my son's Mickey shirt that i am hoping to start today. I am afraid of freying.

Especially since after i washed my sons Car Shorts which were flannel the edges started fraying. No I have to find something to stop them from fraying. any suggestions?

A Ruffler Question too

where do you get the rufflers? How do i know what kind my machine will need. have a brother I think it is an XR-46. Are they expensive?

I think I might have accidentally skipped some pages, so sorry if I missed you!

Here is my latest:

That's adorable!!

I honestly think it looks GREAT! We are all more critical of our own creations. But, I think it's super-cute and so is your niece!

Wow!! Those cakes are great, especially the pillow one!! I wish I could figure out the rolled fondant. My one attempt didn't go so well. :headache:

The skirt looks really cute. It looks like you did fine without the pattern!

Celebrating a 1/2 birthday? That is too funny. She looks absolutely adorable, though!

Hi everybody. I was sent these hairbow links by someone in one of my sewing groups. The first 2 are free and the third has a membership fee that includes a bowmaker. The second link has the directions on how to curl the ribbon for the corkers-scroll down the page to find it.

http://ribbonqueen.com/store/product_info.php?cPath=67&products_id=338

Thanks for the links! We didn't have the first one, so I added it to the bookmarks under "Hair Things".

Hi all!!! We have been back for a week yet life got busy and I have not gotten a chance to post!

Erin got a lot of attention over her outfits! I need to post pics later, but the characters ate it up. The biggest reaction was from June over her LE dress. She just kept pointing to the dress and then to her and putting her hands over her heart to say she loved it. She even signed Erin's autograph book as "June, LOVE your dress!" Minnie made a big deal about it too. We even had a member of the Dream Team stop us and ask about her outfit! Darn it, no dreams, but it was nice to have that little talk with her.

I promise to be back with photos!
:welcome: back!!! I can't wait to see the pictures!!!!

That turned out SOOO cute! I like the idea of adding a ladybug to the shorts. Congratulations on figuring out that pattern. I read through it after you asked the question and I was like this the whole time. :confused3

I'm SO sorry to hear your adoption fell through. I can't imagine how devestating that must be. I know you loved those kids.

I'll pray that your IVF treatment is successful.

OH MY GOSH!!!!!!!! I LOVE IT!!!!!!!! You rule!!!! Look at that, I am just so impressed. What a couple of lucky little boys you have!

Okay, you went and made me cry! That is beautiful!!

I always have the kids (this was Sawyer's first year) make Henry a card/book for Father's Day. They draw pictures in it and then I write down what they say it is, or what they want to say to Daddy. Tessa wrote her own words this year, with NO help!!! Sawyer isn't talking much yet, so I just let his artwork speak for itself. :lmao:

Heather and Teresa! I was searching around the trip report board and found a report about a young college girl who is in the Disney college-training program. She is writing about her experiences....interestingly enough, she is a FGIT!!!!! I was reading it to see if it shed some light on your very grouchy FGIT.....not so much....this girl is a ball of energy. But here is the link to her report
http://http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1828676
Thank you for the link!! Did you see that I had a FGIT comment on my TR a couple of times? She didn't make me feel much better about the situtation, though.

Wow, you sew fast!! I love this shirt, it turned out SO cute. You are very creative!

He is beautiful! I love his big eyes! You made me a little baby hungry--time to go hug my puppy!
Me too!
BTW, I'll be happy to make the grandbaby's cakes. ;)

LOVE the sweet little baby snuggle! ALMOST I said ALMOST makes me want to have another.
No almost here *sigh*.

when you make your outfits do you all zig zag all the edges of the cut material? I started doing that with my niece's dress and I did it with the pieces of my son's Mickey shirt that i am hoping to start today. I am afraid of freying.

where do you get the rufflers? How do i know what kind my machine will need. have a brother I think it is an XR-46. Are they expensive?

I try to finish the seams with a zig-zag stitch when I sew. I also go over each seam 2x with a straight stitch. I didn't used to do this and the seams weren't as strong and they would unravel a lot.

I got my ruffler at JoAnn fabrics. It cost $7 with the 40% off coupon. Make sure you look there first! My brother sewing machine has a low shank (which is the kind they sell at JoAnn), but I'm not sure what yours has.

I was talking about Tarzan ;)

There are some instructions in the bookmarks for pettis.

I hear they are a real pain though!

That's why I've only ordered them! :thumbsup2
Right now I'm sitting here packing a bunch of them out to ship!
They sure are gorgeous!! All that fluffy goodness!

:cool1: :worship:   :dance3:

Can't wait to see the pettis in all of their wonderful fluffiness!!!

Hello everyone! How I've missed my sewing friends! I am still sick with sinus crud and three things in our house broke and we are leaving for PA Saturday so I have been swamped.

T: I don't know if I'll make it to Hancock's. I'll really try but my list of stuff to do before we leave is getting bigger each day instead of smaller. Your outfits look adorable!

Heather: Love the Buzz outfits and that cake is so cool. You just drew him on there, freehand? I am in awe of your talent. Megan thinks birthday cakes come from the Publix bakery and that's the way it's going to stay!

Ms McKenna:  I'm sorry you are having it so rough right now.

Love all the new things, especially Linnette sewing for herself. Here is what I have been up to:

IMG_0579.jpg

Tinkerbelle nightgown for Megan. The fabric is shiny on one side and soft on the inside. She said is a princess gown and she loves it.

IMG_0583.jpg

Petty Steph Warning: My neighbor and her daughter came by last week and they saw the nightgown on the table. The daughter asks me to make her one. This is the one I made the Thanksgiving outfits for and she never thanked me. I don't know if I should make her a peasant dress nightgown (much easier) or what. I really don't want to make her anything because I am petty. :guilty:

Here is the outfit for the Big Give. I just need to add a ruffle on the bottom of the peasant top. I tried the rolled hem on the bottom of the skirt and I am not sure if I did it right. And the ties in the back seem too short so I might take them out and try a few rows of elastic thread instead. So I guess it's really not done yet, lol!

IMG_0577.jpg

I am going to try to finish this today so I can mail it out before we go.

Okay I just totally LOST my entire quote and I can't even blame it on my little one...hahaha. Have no idea how I just did that..ugh! Sorry.

Anyway....lets see what I can remember.

Callie - I am SOOO sorry about the adoption falling through. I am thinking of you guys and saying some prayers for you. I sent you a PM!

SoHappy......I love your WALL-E shirt...that is awesome.....!!!!! Totally love it!!!

Lynnette.....love all your shorts and the other things you have been making. You are so fast at this...it takes me forever to make something!

tadamom.....l think it was you who made the ladybug shirt....that was so cute!!!!

Oh and I LOVED the Father's Day scrapbook.....!!!!

I am sure I missed some....sorry guys!!!

I love Megan's new nightgown! I've eyed that fabric before. Was it slippery to work with? No, I wouldn't make your neighbor a nightgown! I thought it was so rude when you made that gorgeous outfit and didn't even get a simple "thank you". You aren't being petty!!

The Big Give outfit is adorable!!! Isabelle is going to look gorgeous in it, too!

BIG GIVE OUTFIT

So here is my BIG GIVE outfit I have been working on. It didn't turn out exactly as I planned but I hope it doesn't look too bad. :confused3 I used CarlaC's easy-fit pants pattern and made the capris. (They really are supposed to be capris...LOL... my little one is just younger and (hopefully) shorter than Isabelle. Hahaha. Then I was inspired to paint princesses all over them. I had to paint Snow White twice because the first shirt I used was way too big!!!! I guess I bought a boy's tshirt instead of a girls and it was way too long. This shirt looks better. Oh and then I got some white hightops and painted them to match. I have to admit though, painting princess faces on the side of shoes was NOT as easy as I had hoped for either. Hahahaha. Anyway....what do you guys think????

Here is my little one modeling it:

This is ADORABLE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love it and I know Isabella and Alicia are going to love it!

Tinkerbelle nightgown for Megan. The fabric is shiny on one side and soft on the inside. She said is a princess gown and she loves it.

Ohhh, I love that nightgown, it's sooo cute.

:guilty:

I wouldn't make it either. People who don't sew have no idea how much work goes into it.

I am going to try to finish this today so I can mail it out before we go.
