Wait a minute, you're NOT 24?! :scared1:

Of course I AM! :lmao: :dance3:

Age is subjective when you are from Michigan. I had to convince a relative recently he was not 40 but 60. He STILL doesn't believe me LOL.

I have also been able to convince my niece that her mom (My sister) is older than me. My Logic is simple-my sister MUST be older than me, since my dd is 7 and her dd is 15!!!!! :lmao: :lmao:

I think I need some pop! LOL

Help. I have been working on my first petti and I decided last night that I really need a ruffler foot to complete this project. We only have Hancocks and I know that they carry attachments but I am not sure that it will fit my machine. I have a WALMART BRother XR 65. ..cheap but good for a novice like me. Will this attachment fit my machine? How do I know if it will fit before I travel 30 minutes with 3 little ones and gas at 3.98 a gallon?
THanks

I would call one of the ladies at the hancocks and ask if it will fit and if it is in stock. also maybe google the part and see if it will work on your machine. do you have a joanns close.. I know they sell a lot of brother attachments... does walmart carry any attachments at all>>

and yes a ruffler foot is a must!!

Yes, go ahead and post silly stuff until you get up to 10!

OK, I have Heather's permission! JK! Thought I'd just post a little about my family to up my count a little. I'm Lara and I have more hobbies than I need because I end up feeling overwhelmed at all I'd like to do and I end up doing nothing! I am trying to weed back on a few though, because to add to the mix, I think I'm going to go back to school this fall or winter semester! :scared1: I'm married to my husband of 15 years, Kevin, who is a home builder. We built our "dream" home last year on what used to be his family's farm. We have three beautiful children - who you will be able to see in a few more posts! Abby - DD13 - is my tomboy. She plays basketball and softball for her school. Just a bit of bragging here - she was in 7th grade this past year and when she got done with JV softball, she was moved up to the varsity team, which went to state and won! She even got to play at the state tournament. She loves to play, but hates when we brag on her! Hayley - DD9 - is more of my girly girl. She won't wear much frilly stuff (her big sister's influence), but she loves playing with her AG doll. Nate - DSalmost4 - is my baby! He can be such a sweetheart, but is into EVERYTHING at the same time. He is such a boy! I've sewn for all my kids, but not much lately. I'm hoping to get back into the swing of it! Thanks for having me!

Yep! Cutting out 3 shirts! Hoping to finish sash on minnie dot dress! And maybe cut some more squares for patchwork twirl! Stopping in to say hi!

I am sooo behind on projects and yet I am still surfing the web.. ok everyone I am off to workout and then back to the machine!!

Is there a pattern for the patchwork twirl online or it is a YCMT?

I just asked at my local Joanns and they said they don't sell ruffler feet unless it is for the machines they sell in their little shop:scared1:

I don't have your specific machine - I have the costco version of the Brother i6000. I have used one of the Hancock's rufflers on my machine before. I think the brand is "creative solutions" or "sewing solutions" or something like that. ANYWAY, my machine takes the low shank ruffler. I would imagine yours takes the same. You have to unscrew the snap on clip, and then screw the ruffler foot on. It is a bit of a pain, but it works. If you don't need it today, I would check :wizard: for a snap on foot ruffler. It really is easier IMO.

:lmao: I just want to clarify, that even with subjecgtive age in Michigan, I am actually 33! I'm not 53!

I haven't listed family information on the board yet. I'm in the final organizational stages now. I wanted to have everything organized and ready to respond before I contacted all of the families. There are 5 maybe 6 families that I have on the list to contact. Once I have received the information from them that I need and have verified that they have a confirmed MAW trip, I will list the families individually by trip date on the board. Until I have that information, I can't post. It will be soon. Very soon.
Good! I thought I was "lost" on the other board! I can't wait to see what we have next!

Wow, $3.98/gallon! That's a BARGAIN! We paid $4.17 over the weekend. :scared1:
Yes, I'm sure there is a ruffler that will fit your machine. But, you need to know whether you have a low shank, a slant shank, or a high shank on your machine. If you can't find the information in your booklet, go ahead and call the customer service number and they will probably tell you what shank you have. The only ruffler I've seen at JoAnn (and my JoAnn usually has only 1 in stock) is the low shank ruffler. If you need a slant shank, let me know because I have an extra.

Thanks for sharing!! It's so nice to know a little bit about our "newbies". My husband builds houses, too! It's not his actual "job". He gets paid to paint cars, volunteers as a police officer, and builds houses "on the side". Can you say workaholic?

Welcome I can't wait to see your pics!
Our JoAnn sells ruffler feet, but they don't have a seperate little sewing machine shop. I've heard that some JoAnns are like that, though.

If anyone does have a "regular" JoAnn, the rufflers are by the sewing machines, in a package that hangs on the wall. They are $14.99 for a low shank ruffler, with all the bells and whistles.

Good morning everyone.

Sorry don't have any advice but i just wanted to say. IMO When it comes to Disney how can you go wrong with any of the resorts?!?!?!
We where originally going to stay at POR because our friend had 3 kids ad it was the best option with out going to a deluxe resort or a suite. DH always wanted to stay at AKL but we could never afford it. Then next thing you know it we are walking through the mall and we check out Doorway to Dreams and DH bought a DVC at AKL! So this trip we are staying at SSR since our resort isn't finished.

I will say though that over on the DCV board a lot of people LOVE WL. My sil and my girlfriend do love CS.

Sorry like i said I was no help!

Of course you were of help. Any little tid bit of info is helpful. There is nothing worse then waiting all year for vacation and then getting to your destination and hating the place. Thanks.

I haven't stayed at CR, WL or Coronado Springs, but I have stayed at POFQ and really enjoyed it! I liked the small feel of the resort, the great pool and the bus service was terrific. I stayed at POR and hated it! Just my two cents.

The thing I don't like about POFQ is that there isn't any room service and I kind of prefer a bigger resort. Not big big like Caribbean but good size ya know? Thanks for helping.

I'm sorry I didn't answer your question about resorts yesterday. I wanted to come back to it today when I had a somewhat clear mind.

We have stayed at WL several times and we really enjoy it. We love that we can get on a boat to go to MK, and we love the atmosphere. You asked about another resort, but now I don't remember if you meant Carribbean beach or Contemporary resort (I know it was a C :rotfl: ). If you meant Carribbean beach, we have stayed there several times, and we really enjoy the atmosphere. It doesn't have a table service restaurant (I don't think?), but we eat most meals in the park, so that didn't really bother us. I hope you have a great time whatever you decide.

No problem, thanks for the info. Last December my sister and I stayed w/the kids at the Contemporary. I love the monorail being right there it's just so convenient. Anyway, last night DH overheard me on the phone saying that the girls and I were going to go alone and the minute I got off the phone he was suddenly ready to start planning. I think he does things like that just to make me nuts. :rolleyes2 Anyway, I think we've come to a compromise and have decided on Coronado Springs but Wilderness Lodge is soooo pretty. But I won't complain seeing as how much it was last year;) .

Kind of quiet this morning , is everyone sewing?

Lori

I should be sewing but yesterday I worked (sewed) from 4am to 3:30 w/only a few breaks so I'm having a hard time making my way over to the machines today. Plus I ran out of thread and it looks like it's about to rain and I don't want to take the girls out in the rain. What's a girl to do right? lol

Maybe call Hancocks and have them check for you.

If anyone is looking for something to do, I just updated my Trip Report. :cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Well, it's about time! I don't ever read trip reports, but I am reading you guys and it's been kind of a while, you know. Let's be more punctual with your next installment. I'd hate to have to mark you down a letter grade!:teacher:

How interesting your Dh paints cars. My dad did that almost all of his life! I remember as a kid going to work with him and i :lovestruc LOVED:lovestruc the smell of car paint! I still do! Ok so that explains alot:lmao: I can even tell you how to fix a dent like in the old days from watching him so many times! As a kid i also thought I would grow up to be a car sander because I always had fun when he would let me help him:rotfl:

Ok I bet my Joanns did really have a ruffler foot i could use. I was in the center of the store where they sell the sewing machines looking at a ruffler foot or wat I thought might be a ruffler foot ad some Vicking sales lady cam rushing over saying her ruffler foots could only e used on a Viking machine! So she sent me to the other side of the store and when I asked a reg sales rep she said they don't sell them. :confused3 She must have just been a viking snob!:lmao:

as you can see I put elastic in the inside half lining to give me some support

and sometimes I even sew(iron on) interface lining to make it less see thru
(no need for a bra!!)
hope this helps

If I have a pattern for a size 7 (boys) and i want to make it bigger (size 10) how much should I add to the pattern? Or where can I go to find this info?

I've gone up a size or two depending on the style. Going up 3 sizes could be tricky. Basically I look at the pattern to see where extra is added as the size goes up. It's usually fairly consistent from one size to another but the amount of extra will change in different areas. I then add a corresponding amount to all pattern pieces as I trace. This works pretty well for simpler styles but if you're doing something more tailored or detailed, it might not work as well.

One thing to keep in mind is you may need to add more than the usual is length since often the measurements around don't change nearly as much as the length for bigger kids. If you have a similar style garment that fits well, you can double check measurements of your resized pattern to the measurements of the garment.

I hope that made sense!

That is really cool! Unfortunately for me, unless that elastic is made of titanium, I am still gonna need a bra. Especially on roller coasters!!!!:scared1:

Oh my! I must interrupt this discussion to say

I JUST BOUGHT AIRTRAN TICKETS to LAX! We are going to DISNEYLAND! Gotta go get some Mickey's Treat tickets now!

Yup Thanks! I found the inches measurement difference between the 2 sizes and it is only 2 inches for the most part so I a adding 3 to be safe. It is a bowling shirt so I think to add length I a, going to add a trim type part at the bottom. The little boys twin brothers shirt came out so cute! I am so excited to show them( my best friends boys). I even decided I am going to try a patchwork twirl for Nikki with all the scraps for the shirts I made!

You and me both sister! I can't go braless I hate flapping in the breeze:rotfl2:
