Packages vs. Discounts

Since it's obvious that Disney is about to offer a new Winter Package, I would like to point out a few things. When FTP was released it had to be booked by June. According to the new Winter package it will have to be booked by September 22. I wonder if Disney did so well with the FTP, that they didn't have to offer any more discounts? and are now planning to offer a Winter package to see if it will do as well, so they won't have to offer anymore discounts again for the timeframe? Am I reading into this too much? It just seems to me that right before the time they would normally release codes for a certain time frame, they offer a package to fill rooms. Perhaps we won't see any discounts for the rest of the year. I have an AP and the package will do me no good. It would for a couple of first timers in our group, but they will be staying with me. :( What are your thoughts?

My thoughts are they are no longer interested in big room only discounts. The best you can do is 10%-20% AAA/DC. They want to push the packages with UPH.

Remember that even though Disney has phased out room only codes, Disney has still been offering AP discounts. When the FTP came out in May everyone was up in arms saying Disney wasn't going to release AP codes, but guess what? Disney did. (For the time frame July 3 or 4th thru Aug. 23rd.) And keep in mind that Disney distributed AP codes even though the FTP was a big success.

The same pattern is already showing. Disney is about to come out with a package tomorrow, and some are panicking that AP discounts won't come out.

I'm an annual pass holder and my thought on this is Disney will release AP discounts, but it will be very last minute.
