Can I buy my tickets thru Ticketmania, then only buy a one day ticket with my 7 day package with dining?

Yes, that is how Disney is marketing now. Many AP holders are doing the same thing. You can use or not use the 1 day ticket, just make sure you look carefully at your savings as a 1 day pass my eliminate the savings from Ticketmania

You do have to buy at least a one day to get a package don't you? I am only really wanting the package for the dining option.

Yes, you must buy one day. That is how they are encouraging you NOT to use a broker. I couldn't get on Ticketmania site but here are some numbers from Disney
1 Day (no hopping, exp.) $63.63
7 day (hopping, exp.) $237.50
8 day (hopping, exp.) $240.69

so if you are planning 8 days in the park, the question is does Ticketmania save you $60.00 (the difference you'll pay for 1 day+ 7 day instead of buying an 8 day) off a $237.50 ticket . I can pretty much guarantee they don't. Also, with the latest package codes, though there are no guarantees, they seem to be giving ticket perks, ie free hopping and plus feautres.

Good luck in your decision

I don't suppose anyone has the straight answer on whether a one-day ticket can be saved for a later trip.

That is, does the 14 days start to run based upon your stay, or is from first use (which in the case of a one-day ticket could be years from now).

Over on the theme park board, you seem to get both sides claiming with authority that they are correct. Anyone have any actual experience.

I do not have actual experience but am a Disney TA. The official answer from Disney is they are good forever if not used. Also, they can be credited toward a ticket upgrade (ie if you want an AP next year).

The ticket on a package is good until you use it (as long as you haven't started it). If you have a 3 day ticket and you have 1 day used, you then have the remainder of your 14 days from first use - unless you have the NE purchased.

I still have my one day ticket (on my room key) left from October - I am a passholder, so it won't do me any good right now. I called Ticket Services back then and was told I couldn't use it towards an AP (although I saw it being done at the Epcot ticket booth - I told my MIL to ask, and they did that for hers). I was told by Ticket Services to give it to someone else. Of course, they aren't supposed to be transferable - but that is what I was told.

and of course, got a lot of conflicting information about saving vs. applying the 1 day pass.

Our passes expire in November (during our trip for NJ Teachers Convention week) and I was hoping to be able to apply them to our renewals. Now, we are also DVC owners and we purchased our APs w/ the DVC discount. When renewing, we would also want that discount and I was told that you cannot apply 2 things at the same time. So if I want to use the 1 day passes, I would have to forgo the renewal an just purchase a new pass, w/o using the DVC discount. Since the DVC discount is worth more ($100 per adult on a new pass) it wouldn't be worth it to use the 1 day pass towards a new AP.

I think what we'll probably do is save them for another time and if we don't think we'll be able to get enough trips in during the Nov 2006-Nov 2007 AP year, perhaps apply them towards a 10 day MYW non expiring pass.

I plan on asking questions of every ticket person I can during our February and April visits. Hopefully, more people who have purchased the 1 day pass in order to purchase MYW dining will actually attempt to apply the 1 day and we'll get some definitive answers.

I recieved the free one day park hopper for a DVC add on. I was able to use the value of the one day ticket (at the MK Window) toward my discounted DVC AP renewal in August. Hope that makes sense,
