Package vs. Room Only + Advance Tickets

Has anyone or is it even possible to get a decent savings by booking room only and purchasing advance tickets over just booking the package? Say for a 6 night 7 day stay.

Can you get a room only savings by booking something at the last minute?

Thanks!

I have never booked a package since I've either had an AP (Annual Pass), or just found it cheaper to do everything separate. Sometimes packages include unwanted things like too many days of park tickets - I like to have the option of NOT having to go to the parks everyday, especially on travel days. Plus with "room-only" ressies, if an AP code or a AAA rate is available, then it can drop the room rate 10-20%. Also, if you shop around for tickets in advance, you can get some deals on those too. Mary's site and newsletter (mousesavers.com) are great for this!!!

As far as last minute bookings, there used to be a few many years ago, but not anymore (at least, that I'm aware of).

HTH!!!

I am going in april and I started out booking everything seperately but this time it worked out that I will save $90 by booking the free tix up grade pacakage vs the room and the tixs seperately.

Tigger that is exactly my situation. We'll be leaving on the morning of that 7th day so we won't be in a park that day, plus we'll spend at least 1 day at a waterpark. So I'll need the 6 nights but not the 7 days. But with the current packages, the price difference from 5 days to 7 days isn't very drastic. :confused3:

Guess I'll just have to price out a few different options and make a decision.

Thanks!

We opted to do a package this time b/c the dining plan saves us a bit of money. We are there 8days 7 nights but we went for 7 day hoppers. We know we are going to the park 6 days but unsure about the last day. It was 5 dollars total between the 6 day and 7 day tickets, a dollar a person. We figured if we were only out 5 dollars it was worth it for flexibility.

Are you getting trip insurance? That adds $60.00 per adult to a package. My family has connecting rooms. One room has a package (with dining) and me and DD 10 have room only (AAA rate) and tickets. It was cheaper (not by much) to get the AAA discount and no package. Plus you have to pre-pay packages.

Well I've played around online and called Disney quite a few times in the past few days, hoping to catch a good deal. All the AAA room only rates were gone. But this morning the lady said I had a PIN???? At least that's what I think that's what she said.

Anyways, it was a free ticket upgrade to Hopper and Water Park Fun More, and yes my travel dates are after the current June 3rd free upgrade promotion. So I didn't get the room rate discount at POFQ like I was hoping, but I got some savings on the tickets.

And what's a PIN or PEN? I mean, I know what they are :) , but what are they in Disney language.

OK.... I now have a dilema.

I received a quote from an online agency and they were able to secure the AAA room only rate for me. So now I have a AAA discounted room only reservation on hold AND a deposit paid on the MYW Package with the free ticket upgrade mentioned above.

Any Way I can combine these 2 deals?

A PIN code means you are eligible for a discounted rate on Disney resorts for certain dates. Call back and ask about it - if it's valid for the dates you are going, you'd probably save more money than with AAA.

HTH!!! :teeth:
